As Dennis Pratt reluctantly prepares for an anniversary trip to Mexico with his wife, Patricia, he becomes convinced that she is having an affair when she loses twenty pounds--an obsession that changes the whole course of their lives.
Just the name made me want to read this book...then alot of the book took place in Fargo N. Dakota, where I am flying into in about a week, so that gave me some good laughs, it was a so so book until the last chapter which totally caught me by suprise and I loved it!! Basically its about a middle ages man, daughter in first year college, his wife is planning a trip to Mexico that he is not to excited about, he is kinda bored with his job, trying to learn to play golf so he won't look like an idiot on the course in cabo.....thinks his wife may be cheating on him, but he's not to sure about that....pretty funny overall.
Against his wishes, Dennis Pratt of Fargo, North Dakota, has agreed to a vacation in Cabo San Lucas with his wife and a group of her friends. He dutifully begins to practice his golf game and take swimming lessons. But he's wracked with suspicions of infidelity on the part of his wife, and since he works part-time as a hazardous waste processor, he has plenty of time to spy on and confront her. By the time they get to Los Cabos he finds that he is ensnared not only in marital problems, but in some very serious criminal accusations. I was in turns sympathetic and exasperated with Pratt. Some sections of the book were tiresome, but the ending was pleasantly unexpected.
About an OCD guy who works at a toxic material recovery center and accepts some business waste despite being only allowed to accept home waste. He aspires to better his golf game for a pending trip to Mexico with his wife who he thinks is cheating upon him. Surreal inner monologues and secondary story. Wraps up in a surprising weird way. Swearing.
This is one of two books that will live aboard "Bella" until Don and I have both read it. Am now at over half-way thru and am anxious to get back to the boat to finish this highly entertaining read. Done on our most recent cruise. I highly recommend this book for those of us "of a certain age" who find ourselves insanely happy living a whole new life in Mexico.
