Starrycard Creek Bachelors #1

The Business Card Boyfriend

Rate this book
Hailey Higgins just got dumped at the altar—and she’s nearly broke. Her only saving grace is a remote cabin a long-lost relative left her in the tiny mountain town of Starrycard Creek. It should be the perfect place to shut out the world and shun love. Under no circumstances should she want anything to do with the ruggedly handsome Finnegan Starrycard. Finn is a growly, self-proclaimed bachelor for life. He’s the local handyman. That’s what it says on his business card. And this handyman has deemed her cabin to be uninhabitable.

Out of options, she can’t say no when Finn offers her his spare bedroom while he makes the necessary repairs to her place. Two love-haters under one roof sounds ideal until a boozy night leads to an agreement. Roommates with benefits. All physical. No feelings. And heaven help her! This handyman works magic with his hands, his tongue, and his . . . well, you get it.

She cannot fall in love with Finnegan Starrycard—or the picturesque town, or his endearingly quirky family. Still, the longer she stays, the harder it is to ignore the chemistry between them.

In Starrycard Creek, the locals say love is always in the cards. Hailey would like to think she’s done with love. But thanks to one grumpy handyman, love might not be done with her yet.

This just might be a sign of a series on par with, if not better than, the Bergen brothers series by Krista. No lie. Hailey and Finn have some comedy, some embarrassment, a gang of rogue raccoons, kittens who cause mayhem and inspire love, and so much more. But they also have some sadness and heartbreak along the way. Don’t worry, though. It all works out with a grovel of epic proportions, as well as a glimpse of that which is coming next. All in all, this is an excellent read that I’m glad I’ve experienced.

Now, I do have to say this. The coincidental and fateful events within these pages aren’t all obvious. Some are subtle. Some are as bold as bright pink lipstick while also being as slick and impressive as a finely tuned Porsche. But the emotion that I experienced reading this story surprised me like nothing else. Hailey and Finn drag us through their angst and misery and near-miss of a love that could last through think and thin, but it’s actually sort of necessary. The events that require some service to a community are also just as necessary. Because sometimes you need to truly be humbled before you can find your way to appreciating the best thing you’ll ever have in life. So get comfortable, enjoy the laughs, and feel the twinges of sadness, because it’ll all come together exactly as it was meant to be.

I would give this book ten stars if I could! I really need a great fun read and Business Card Boyfriend fit the bill. So many emotions…laughter, tears, the urge to knock the hero upside the head and just that feel good feeling. I have to say be careful where you read this one because you will laugh out loud and there will be tears. I got some weird looks when this happened to me in a doctor’s waiting room lol. Finn and Hailey have a hilarious meet cute and their story is fantastic. He’s her “business card boyfriend” and she’s a runaway bride. By the end you’ll want to visit Starrycard Creek to meet Finn, Hailey and his wonderful family. If you’re like me you’ll also want to add cherry chocolate ice cream, cherry turnovers and orange marmalade to your grocery order. If you like cherry licorice you’ll want to add it too. This is book one in this series and I can’t wait to read the others.

(i was sent an arc of this book for free in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own)

Another 5/5 for an @kristasandor book! Her stories are so addicting, I can never put them down and I always have to keep reading. Once you get a little taste you can't stop! I absolutely love the setting for this book and I wish that it was a real town I could go visit or even live in. The hero of our story is such a chef's kiss grump that I couldn't help but love him from page one. I read this in one sitting and I am already itching to read book 2! If you are a fan of the #grumpysunshinetrope You're going to love this book and this author just as much as I do. Now if anyone needs me I will be having a #kristasandorromance book binge!

Welcome to the town of Starrycard Creek, I absolutely love this quirky little mountain town and all it’s inhabitants. For two people that absolutely have given up on love they have quite the adventure ahead of them. Finn and Hailey have quite the meet cute, but it is pretty on par with how their story will unfold. They are so perfect for each other it’s crazy. But they are both so guarded because they have been hurt in the past, so this is a story of learning how to trust each other along the way. Throw in Finn’s sassy scene stealing niece, McKenzie, who is always throwing the adults for a loop. As well as crazy small town life and it is a recipe for a beautiful love story. It is a story that will give you all the feels, that’s for sure. They do have some things that they have to work through but they figure it out in the end and become a stronger couple for it. I am so happy that they got their happily ever after. I can not wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

This has got to be ONE OF the hottest, sweetest and most hilarious romance I have ever read! Krista wasted no time getting to the good stuff with these two and man I love her for it!!

These two fell hard and fast, but when you’re trying to forget love that’s not necessarily a good thing. Finn and Hailey have been given the big ol F you from love, and have harden their hearts. Fate and the magic of Starrycard have other plans though and when these two meet nothing will ever be the same.

I just know this series is going to be another fave for me! I love that Krista keeps it all Colorado because as a Colorado girl I try to picture which of our amazing places is her inspiration.

This family, The Starrycard’s is hilarious and loving! I can not wait to see what’s to come.

This was a super fun book! Loved the runaway bride aspect, and of course I love a grumpy MMC. I like how he saw her and was instantly like, yep she’s mine. And how they were both able to grow from their relationship trauma. The spice was spicy and the banter was great. It was a fun read!

I read 30% and then skimmed to the back of the book. The MFC really comes off as dumber than a box of rocks and clingy to a no good user ‘fiancé’ in the first chapter. The MFC is in love with the idea of love. And we are also told that she followed her boyfriend as he moved from job to job in different states (she never questioned him why he got a different job but just assumed it was a career move up) and that she was a teacher. That begs the question did she teach in those different states? If so, how did she get certified to do so?

On top of that, when she leaves her fiancé with good reason, as a ‘run away bride’, the reader is expected to believe she made a 600 mile trip in 7 hours in a beater car to a cabin she inherited (was she driving at 100 mph?) with no money (didn’t she ever stop for gas?), in a too small wedding dress and stiletto heals that she couldn’t even walk in, plus she didn’t even have any other clothes to change into!

I won’t even go into her first encounter and subsequent activities, ‘bedroom’ and otherwise, with the MMC ‘handyman’ that had me rolling my eyes.

We really need to lower the average rating here. This book was beyond corny, totally unrealistic, way too wordy, and utterly ridiculous. I made it 3/4 of the way through then skimmed the rest and definitely don’t feel like I missed out on anything. Even the “spice” was amateur hour.

I enjoyed traveling to the small town of Starrycard Creek. I love getting to know a new town and all of its little quirks. And Starrycard Creek makes paper, how unique is that?

I never get tired of Krista Sandor's humor and the way her characters find themselves in strange situations. This book is a little grumpy/sunshine and a bit secret relationship. Haley and Finn would have never crossed paths without both enduring unwelcoming circumstances. What I enjoyed most about this book is the way that the little details are woven together to build a history that ends up influencing the future.

If you are looking for a book that has some good laughs, relatable characters, and just a sprinkling of angst, this is a great choice.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most scintillating, heartwarming, and hilarious romances I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Krista Sandor wastes no time delving into the heart of the story, and I couldn't be more grateful for it.

Finn and Hailey's love story is a whirlwind, and while falling fast and hard is exhilarating, it's not always ideal when you're trying to forget the pain of past relationships. Both have experienced heartbreak and have grown cautious. However, fate and the enchantment of Starrycard have different plans, and from the moment these two cross paths, their lives are irrevocably altered.

Pacing was off, and though it was a pleasant and fun read for about 30% it is like reading Julie Anne Longs magical elements but having them explained so you don't miss the meaning.

The last 30% was an absolute slog.

What a fantastic romcom from Krista Sandor, The Business Card Boyfriend had me captivated from the start. I Loved it. I was so riveted by Finn and Hailey and the small town of Starrycard Creek, I love this town and the people who reside there. This is one sweet and amusing book and Hailey and Finn are a match made in heaven. They have both been hurt and given up on finding love...But isn't that always when you unexpectedly find love when you are not looking? These two have quite the journey to a HEA. After running from being left at the alter, a remote cabin in the woods sounds like bliss and the perfect way to escape. But the cabin is not in good condition and this is when Finn comes into the picture. Local Handyman he comes to Hailey's rescue, offering her his spare bedroom while she fixes up the Cabin. This is were life of these two characters gets very interesting and super steamy. They cannot deny their attraction to one another and the chemistry is out of this world, so it is inevitable that they should explore each other and agree to have a physical relationship, no feelings just sex. But you can't ignore feelings especially when things between them change, there are some hilarious situations they find themselves in and I adored reading it, and the exchanges between them. Confession time, this is my first Krista Sandor book and I found myself loving every moment reading it. This is the beginning of a new series and I definitely want to read the other books that will come next. Krista Sandor WOWED me with her words and the characters she has created along with the town of Starrycard Creek...This book is the perfect mix of Funny, sweet, romantic and super sexy. It has everything you could want in a captivating read. You won't want to put it down. EXCELLENT book.- Cat W.

I originally ran to this book because of a TikTok video that was posted. Starting off the book, I wasn’t captivated at all. It was hard to get into and the situation of the story didn’t match the true vibe on the FMC. However, because of the video I saw with the excerpt from the book, I keep going. When I finally got to the part, it wasn’t the same at all, and it changed the ENTIRE dynamic of the scene. However, the family/back story of the MMC had interested me a little and I simply hate having book that I DNF, so I read all the way through.
The MMC made me want to scream. He experienced very similar past experiences as the FMC however, he acted like a terrible person and treated the FMC exactly how all her previous SOB partners had.
The spice level was probably around a 1.5/5, and like 90% of the book all happens within a 1 week time frame. It all just seemed very quick and not a very riveting story. I gave my rating in the TikTok comments as well, but I have since been blocked. Lol

On the worst day of her life, Hailey gets a lifesaving inheritance - a cabin in the small town of Starrycard Creek. It will be perfect for her to go there, get away from her cheating now ex fiancé, and start over. She never imagined how her life would change though - meeting a grumpy gorgeous Finn, and all the lovely residents of her new small town.

Finn's been burned by love, so now shuns it. Then a woman shows up in his town and she needs help renovating the cabin she just inherited. Now Hailey's living with him while he helps her fix up her cabin, tormenting him with her beautiful spirit. He doesn't do love, but he can certainly indulge in a secret roommies with benefits thing without anything getting to his heart, right?

I want to live in Starrycard Creek with Finn's family. All of them are so sweet, funny, and simply adorable. Finn's the grumpy one in the bunch, but deservedly so considering his past. He, unknowingly, was just waiting for Hailey to come along and help him figure out his critical component. The humor, the smokin' chemistry, the witty, snarky banter, and the wonderful characters - my kinda small town.

If I knew nothing about this story and had only seen the cover, that would be enough to make me pick up this one. I’m usually not so…surface, but one glimpse, and I couldn’t look away. And as awesome as the cover model is, our hero, Fin Starrycard, is all that and more!

Since it's the first in the series, we get a little more about the history of Starrycard Creek, CO, and the Starrycard family, beginning with the family patriarch who settled in the area and made a business of creating artisan paper now known throughout Colorado and beyond.

Our hero, Fin, may be local royalty, but he's been unlucky in love lately. The last attempt burned him badly enough that he's hidden away at the family cabin in the mountains and pretty much avoids human interaction.

Hailey Higgins has been just as unlucky, most recently having been left at the alter, so when her great-uncle leaves her his cabin in Starrycard Creek, it looks like a sign from the universe for the next step in her life. The only thing she knows about the area is on a business card that came with the key to the cabin – Finnegan Starrycard, Local Handyman.

So, I’m always a little apprehensive when an author I’ve come to love starts a new series. Will I like it as much as her previous books? Will I fall in love with this new book world? Will the characters become life-long friends? Have no fear, my reader friend. With a Sandor book, we can count on having new people and places we'll fall in love with and will live in our hearts forever. This book world is unique and charming, and it jumps off the page in vivid detail. It took me less than a page before I was drawn in and fully immersed in this fictional world.

The Starrycard family is quirky and funny but warm and welcoming, and I can’t wait for more of them. Fin is growly and grumpy, with good reason, and I loved watching this complex, vulnerable hero get a second chance at love. Hailey is delightful – strong and sassy but kind and big-hearted, and she fits in perfectly in this town and family.

With kind-of-outrageous grandparents, a pseudo antagonist you'll want to see get his own HEA, and a four-legged family that will steal your heart, this one has everything you need for a phenomenal emotional ride. This romance is an epic night out with friends and a cozy night by the fire wrapped in your favorite soft blanket all in one. It's the most fun you can have while keeping your clothes on and staying this side of illegal, so make your romantic heart ecstatically happy and don’t miss this sweet, steamy, hilarious, unforgettable read

I'm fairly certain this book came across my radar as a result of a few lines dropped on TikTok. The genre isn't one I often choose, but I'm also in the middle of reading a pretty dark romantasy, and I needed something lighter for a couple of nights.

While I don't see myself reading more in the Starrycard Creek Bachelors series, I have to give The Business Card Boyfriend by Krista Sandor top kudos for humor. I laughed out loud a lot during the beginning and into the middle of the book. The line "your upstairs lady parts are showing"—or something like that—about killed me.

The two main characters are likable enough...Actually, Hailey becomes more appealing as the plot progresses, but Finn—for me—not as much. There's a surprising amount of internal monologue from Finn, which I loved in the beginning, but his "am I too grumpy/broken for love?" ruminations wore on me. I needed the storyline to keep the pace and momentum set from the first chapter, and it seemed it got a bit stuck with Finn. I had to push through some of those parts because I was invested enough to see if the author went with a HEA or not.

The "magic" or lore behind the Starrycard paper was a nice touch, and it put me in mind of some works by Sarah Addison Allen. The ending is VERY Hallmark movie-esque, and if that is your jam, you'll enjoy it. The book has quite a bit of spice—very NOT like Hallmark. ;-)

If you like sexy banter and wit with a few steamy scenes like those found in Barbara Kellyn's rom-com books and over-the-top family dynamics/banter found in Amanda M. Lee's paranormal mystery books, I think you'll get a kick out of The Business Card Boyfriend, too.

This book was, without a doubt, one of my top reads of 2023!

Filled with all the passion, humor, and heartfelt emotion that Sandor brings to all her writing, you will not only fall in love with Hailley and Finn but with the entirety of Starrycard Creek! I was captivated from the first chapter to the Bonus Scenes as the Runaway Bride found her way to the Grump of Starrycard Creek and they both discovered what is really important in life and love! There are so many sweet moments in this book that showcased the way two people who have been burnt by love could find their way not just to each other but to the type of connection that stands the test time, all the while being inspired by the love that surrounded them and learning from the loves in the History of Starrycard Creek. Hailly and Finn's story shows that even though life isn't all hearts and flowers, when you find Love its made all the more sweeter because of how easy own arrogance, fear and uncertainty can cost us that what we so long for. As you can guess, this story has so many wonderful layers and examples of Love that you cannot help but fall into each and everyone one of them. There is also the added bonus of even a wonderful mystery about Hailley's reclusive uncle who left her his cabin... but it adds such a wonderful thread to the story's tapestry that saying more would rob you of a wonderful tale.

If you love stories with families that can't help by meddle in the best way, coworkers who are like found family members, and enjoy a story where Fate steps in to lend Love a helping hand check this book out. If you love watching as two headstrong people come together with banter and charged dialogue, not to mention some very steamy scenes, than this is the start to a great series that you don't want to miss!

Wow, this book was everything I was expecting and so much more!! An amazing beginning for a brand new series that I know for sure will become a favorite of mine.

Krista has become one of my to go authors because all her stories are fantastic, she definitely delivers in the entertaining, sexy and heartfelt moments and The Business Card Boyfriend is not short in all of these.

Hailey Higgins has always wanted a love story similar to what her parents shared when they were alive, unfortunately for her that moment hasn't come yet because after she is dump in the altar she swears off love. After she is left without practically nothing but a letter in her purse stating she has inherit her late great uncle's cabin, she decides to take a leap of fate and head to the small and charming town of Starrycard Creek.

Finn Starrycard wants nothing to do with love, this grumpy local handyman (that's what his business card says) has been burn and he doesn't want a repeat of that. So when Hailey is literally put in his path, some kind of business agreement is form between them because there is just something about this woman that drives him wild.

Finn and Hailey have so much chemistry but their guarded hearts make it difficult to trust each other completely but what is meant for you is meant for you and I love how both of they have their own personal growing in this story realising at the end what is worth fighting for.

If you love:

*Grumpy/sunshine
*small town romance
*very sexy times
*sweet
*found family
*cute kittens, crazy racoons and a little niece that makes the most hilarious comments

then this is the book for you.

Get ready for a fun and quirky new small town series from Krista Sandor with The Business Card Boyfriend!

There is so much to love about Hailey and Finn's romance- it's got
✨ Jilted Bride
✨ Grumpy Handy-man
✨ Instant Connection
✨ Forced Proximity
✨ "Just for Fun" agreement
✨ Meddling family
and its packed with laughs, heart squeezes and heat as well.

I had so much fun reading this book. Hailey Higgins thought she found love until she's dashing away from her almost wedding- now she's done with it. When fate intervenes and she finds herself heading for Starrycard Creek- a small mountain town in Colorado where she meets Finnegan Starrycard- the grumpy handyman on the business card in her bag. Finn is done with love despite his whole town and family believing that "Love is Always in the Cards"- but he can't deny the pull he feels toward Hailey.

The pull and burn between these two is hot and quick- but the real bang is all those sweet little moments where these two obviously want and feel more than just an arrangement but neither one of them is brave enough to admit it. I love how well these two complimented each other, Hailey is all sweet sunshine while Finn is grumpy and growley- except when it comes to her. The connections that these two kept finding to each other, this town and how they kind of paralleled another romance was really fun and interesting to uncover bit by bit.

Hailey's growth made me so happy, that she was finally confident enough in herself to know what kind of love she wanted and most of all deserved. But what Finn did to prove his love for Hailey was so adorably sweet and really just perfect for this whirlwind kind of romance. I adored this small town and all the other Starrycards- how all the women tended to have a hand in meddling in Finn's life after his heartbreak and the whole town took notice of his strange eating habits. Now I can't wait for more of the Starrycard men to find the magic of love for themselves!

Hailey Higgins has been dreaming of a love that rivals any fairytale and when she thinks she has found that it turns out her love isn’t that at all just a nimrod she is better off without. WIth nowhere to go, no family to turn to, and her hopes of love shattered she finds a letter from the mayor of Starrycard, Colorado it changes the path her life is on. Hailey’s first run in with Finnegan Starrycard is not so much a meet cute as it is a meet disaster. Accused of being an axe unaliver, the confused and grumpy Finn is instantly attracted to this crazy jilted bride but being burned in the past he knows to stay clear of any kind of feelings. The banter between Finn and Hailey is hilarious and fun, but the steam is off the charts hot. As much as they both try to fight the feelings that are attached to the chemistry they have it’s impossible for them not to feel it but Finn is truly consumed with pain and guilt from his past and that will either leave him all alone in life or going against the pain and fighting for something real. This small town is full of amazing people who make you want to be part of it and the Starrycard family are truly the greatest. With love surrounding them everyday will they be able to keep up their mantra of never wanting love again or will these two broken souls mend each other and see that love is always in the cards? This is going to be journey for all the Starrycard siblings and I am here for every second of it!!!

If you love small town romances with plenty of laugh out loud moments welcome to Starrycard Creek. I have fallen hook line and sinker for the quirky residents of this mountain town and if I could have given Finn and Hailey’s story more than five stars I certainly would have.
Hailey arrives in Starrycard Creek in her wedding dress, broken down on the side of the road, trying to get the cabin she never knew was hers until she gets a letter with a business card in.
When she comes across a man with an axe about to chop a tree down she is convinced she has met the local axe murderer. What follows is an entertaining, captivating and funny story that took over from real life.
The Business Card Boyfriend ticked all my boxes, I swooned, I smiled, I giggled and I laughed out loud. I fell hard and fast for Finn, I want Hailey as my bestie but the person who stole a big piece of my heart was Finn’s niece, a first grader named McKenzie who at times stole the show with her classic one liners. This is the perfect start to the new series for Krista Sandor and if the rest of the series are as good as this book she will certainly have a hit series on her hands. I can’t wait for my next visit to get to know more of the quirky residents of Starrycard Creek.

A heartwarming story that combines love, humor, and the charm of a small-town setting.

This story starts when Hailey is left at the altar, and discovers that she inherited a cabin in the small town of Starrycard Creek. She carries a pickle jar full of love notes that her parents wrote to each other on handmade paper sent by her uncle, and I can't think of anything more romantic to have as a keepsake. These notes not only provide a touching connection to her parents, but also show the enduring power of love.

Finn is the grumpy recluse that lives next door, but comes to her rescue even though opposites attract. Hailey's warmth and optimism balance Finn's initially surly disposition, creating an entertaining push-and-pull of emotions.

What truly makes this book shine are the well-drawn characters in the small town, especially Finn's family. The grumpy/sunshine trope is one of my favorites, and bring the story to life through both tender and humorous moments.

If you're in the mood for a book that will make you laugh, swoon, and believe in magic, this is one you won't want to miss. Krista Sandor's storytelling is a true testament to the magic of a well-crafted romance novel.

This is the first book in a new series and I'm already in love with this small town and the Starrycard family. This book had me from start to finish. One of my favorite things was the sense of humor. This book had me laughing through out the whole book. This book is jam packed with feels, but it also brings the heat. I loved Hailey and I won't lie reading the beginning of this one was a little rough seeing her go through that, but she ended up right where she was meant to be. Finn is going through the motions of life and keeping his mind busy with handyman jobs, but the night that Hailey comes crashing into this life he will never be the same. Also this book has adorable little kittens and for this cat lover that is always a win for me! I love all the little revelations Hailey makes if her great uncle's past. I also love the story behind the Starrycard paper. The special meaning for Hailey as well because everything comes full circle. Finn's grand gesture top notch! It's going to be hard to beat for any other book boyfriends that's for sure! I can't recommend this one enough. Now I'm going to eagerly awaiting the next book in the series because I have a feeling it's going to be oh so good!

The Business Card Boyfriend is a delightful and entertaining read that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The story follows Hailey Higgins, a jilted bride who finds herself in the picturesque town of Starrycard Creek. There, she meets Finnegan Starrycard, a ruggedly handsome handyman who is a self-proclaimed bachelor for life. Despite their initial animosity towards each other, they cannot ignore the chemistry between them. As they navigate their feelings, they also have to deal with their past heartbreaks and the challenges that come with them.

The characters are well-developed, and the chemistry between Hailey and Finn is palpable. The Starrycard family is also a delightful bunch, filled with humor and an abundance of love. The setting of Starrycard Creek is charming and whimsical, making it the perfect backdrop for this heartwarming romance.

Overall, The Business Card Boyfriend is a well-written and enjoyable read that will leave you with a smile on your face. While it may not be the most original story, it is still a great addition to the romance genre. If you're looking for a light and fun read with a happy ending, then this book is definitely worth checking out.

I hope you are ready to fall in love, laugh and swoon with Hailey and Finn. This is a new series that will take you to a quaint, some say magical history filled little town that is the home to the Starrycard family.
Hailey is on an emotional rollercoaster as she has just left her groom and his new girlfriend at the altar. Now she is on the quest to find the remote cabin that an uncle she never had the pleasure of meeting has left her. Hailey even though is down she is not out, and she is taking this cabin and new town as a sign of new beginnings. Finn Starry is man of many talents, mechanical engineering, patent holder and most recently handy man as proclaimed by his mom. When teacher Hailey finds herself broken down with a crate of kittens and on the porch of her in desperate need cabin, Finn the handyman swoops in! Hailey and Finn have an instant attraction but they both make it known out loud that they are not in it for love and that is not in the cards for them. Fate is fickle and this town and all the people in it have secrets and hidden treasures. This was a funny, sweet, sexy and emotional trip to this wonderfully lovely fictional town, and I cannot wait to get in invite back!!

i think the book was okay... the heroine somehow felt a little slightly delusional about the whole love thing but didn't make me dislike her at least...

i was actually more puzzled by the author's choice of words which is "descendent" because it doesn't seem to be the correct word. firstly there is a difference between "descendent" and "descendant" as far as i checked (because i got confused by the choice of word):

Descendant: used as a noun, refers to someone who descends from someone else.

Descendent: refers to the act of moving downwards.

additionally to this, it wasn't the right word to use in some of the context too. like for example in chapter 5, the hero was explaining the history to the heroine, so he was saying "... A descendent of mine founded starrycard creek in the eighteen hundreds."

how can someone that was born way before the hero be his descendant? the hero's children will definitely be his descendants but someone before him is descendant?? i would presume the correct word is "ancestor" right? or is there something wrong with my english? -_-'''
