This is a required textbook for a class I'm taking this summer. I personally think you could get a much, much better education in visual literacy by doing a few Google searches and picking up a Robin Williams (not that Robin Williams) design book. I quit reading this when I got to the chapter about how to decorate a classroom.

A book that teaches about visual literacy should be visually enticing. At minimum, it should have colored pages--not black and white. While the author has typical educational information, the book in itself is boring, slow, and not interesting. Hypocritical.

A little dated (published in 2002), especially the section "Into the Future" that speaks of "palm-size computers that double as cell phones, fax machines and Web browsers." I did get a few tips about creating presentations for the large screen that I am looking forward to trying.
