ElenaAnna Stonewell, the dark and mysterious heartthrob senior at my prestigious university had just asked me out. Every woman was enamored with her, gay or straight, Anna was the epitome of seduction we all wanted a taste of. Despite being a poor sophomore student here on a scholarship - struggling to make ends meet while working part-time at a local diner and trying to keep grades up to par - I still felt blessed when she asked me out for a date during my shift. Our date was wonderful, like something out of a dream, and it felt like I was falling in love. But there was one problem. This wasn't a normal date. Anna had been watching me, learning about me, obsessing over me, planning our future together - and tonight, she executed her plan. To keep me forever. Anna Stonewell wasn't only dark, beautiful, and mysterious, she was dangerous. Very dangerous. Unknowingly, I had signed a death deal by agreeing to this date with Anna; because now I'd be staying with her until my very last breath.Anna It's time. The Stonewell's, my family, are retiring from our life of crime. We're leaving Michigan and disappearing off the radar, never to be seen or heard from again. Although our money is now clean, our past is far less so; death, destruction, sex and drugs have marked our history. We have enemies out there who'd like to see us wiped from record. But before we go, I stay behind to fetch my future Elena Allen. From the moment I saw her in one of my lectures a year ago, I was hooked; sweet and beautiful, she stole my heart right away. It might appear as though I've ignored her since then but that couldn't be further from the truth - I've been watching her, learning all about her loves and desires; by now, I know Elena better than she knows herself. Tonight, I'll need to find a way to get her to agree to a date with me - just one - and then it will be forever. She'll come with me to my private island as my wife... because there's no other answer I'm willing to accept.Jenna is a steamy lesbian romance author of fast-paced instalove romance. Paranoia, jealousy and obsession feature in Kent's first book of the series. Anna Stonewell is obscenely rich - her family dangerous mafia types. She gets what her heart desires using all/any measures possible. Elena Allen is squarely in Anna's sights. The poor and dedicated student is working hard to escape her circumstances. Little does she know that Anna intends to own her body and soul. This is a hot, intrigue filled story with an obsess fueled abduction. I feel that Elena is too weak willed on one hand, emotionally and sexually overwhelmed by Anna on the other. Anna - out of control bordering on manic. Is true happiness between them possible? Some oddities with the plot but I went with the flow. Book 2 hopefully will bring answers. Freedom to form your own opinion is a wonderful thing!!
I enjoyed this story. I’m into the obsessive “she’s my whole world” & “I’ll do anything for her” thing, so I liked this story. I’ll most likely read the next story, as I do like the whole mafia family on-the-run backstory. I also liked the spicy details of the smut, tho I would have liked it to be elaborated a bit more; I’m not shy with how much smut I like 😜 lol
I’m giving this story 3 stars as for as long as it was, I expected a little more; them telling each other they loved each other constantly got a little repetitive, tho the reason behind it made sense. Also, there were quite a few spelling and punctuation errors that were obvious; I wouldn’t mind proofreading for the author 😉
All in all, good story… and good stories get 3 stars.
I feel like this book is the ashes from which Jenna Kent will rise (or maybe has already risen cause I haven't read anything else by this author yet), like a Phoenix, one day. Then why 1⭐ , you may ask. Because even though I always, ALWAYS, root for all sapphic authors and their works, this story seems severely underneurished to me.
You know what they say, SHOW, DON'T TELL. The author has told me so much about the main characters and their motivation and their obsession with each other but yet not much of it was convincing or even logical. It was strangely unhinged and, appologies for my language, at times stupid.
It felt like the first draft that needs to be heavily edited, but even more so developed and deepened. Unjustified violence which felt like "just because I can" kind of thing and weirdly written dialogues. At this point, I'm starting to think that it's a good thing it was short.🤷🏻
i sped through this book in a day (technically its still august but ive already done my wrap up so its going in september’s) and there were moments i enjoyed but ultimately not enough for me to speed to read the next book
I had so much fun getting to know Anna and Elena. Hearing about Anna"'s stalking and watching Elena fight herself was done really well by Kent. This book could've been 200 pages longer and I would've eaten it up! To learn more about Anna and follow her on her journey to full on stalker LOL! The smut was fantastic! I love that Kent gave us dark romance in sapphic form! Thank you!
"Death Deal" by Jenna Kent is an electrifying rollercoaster of dark romance that had me hooked from the very first page. The chemistry between Elena and Anna is nothing short of sizzling, and their intimate scenes had me on the edge of my seat, or should I say, curling my toes.
The story unfolds with the Stonewell family, notorious for their life of crime, deciding to retire and disappear. This premise sets the stage for a gripping narrative filled with suspense, danger, and undeniable passion. The character of Anna, with her enigmatic skills, adds a thrilling element to the plot that keeps you guessing.
Elena and Anna's relationship is at the heart of this tale, and the way Jenna Kent develops their connection is simply masterful. I found myself rooting for them throughout, and their chemistry leaps off the pages.
As I read, I couldn't help but be drawn into the world of intrigue and desire that Kent has expertly crafted. And yes, those bedroom scenes were indeed toe-curling and left me craving more.
I am eagerly anticipating the second book in the series, as I believe it will be explosive, especially with Anna doing what she does best. "Death Deal" delivers on all fronts for fans of dark romance, and I'm here for every thrilling moment of it. Kent has created a captivating story that I won't soon forget.

A dark, instant and obsessive sapphic romance, a little plain but not too bad. Daughter of a mafia boss trying to get out and free after falling in love. I did not enjoy this and found Anna a little too controlling and toxic, but I think it could easily be somebody else’s cup of tea.
The writing somewhat let it down as well and is the main reason for low stars; over the top with punctuation and writing, no paragraph spacing or physical structure. I felt like there was nothing that immediately draws you in nor much of a plot line or any character development. Character description also reads more like a police report, why is it so direct and detailed? Who looks at someone and thinks ‘Ah yes her “petite height of five foot five” *insert extensive list of basic physical traits*…? A serial killer maybe? On top of being difficult to read and unchewably wordy it comes across as so creepy.
Eventually it had me intrigued but still seemed so strange, boring and plain bad especially before that point, I feel like it needs a better introduction and a heck of a lot more context. So overly direct and the dialogue is stiff and robotic, I don’t think too much editing would be needed to make this a 3* book, especially with it marketed and trigger warnings, but I would have liked a more substantial plot to make it a solid read.
I've read a few Insta-Love romances, but this one was really intense because it has more dark elements. Possessive and extremely hot. I like that! Anna Stonewell is the young woman that everyone wants. She is rich, dark and always gets what she wants. She wants Elena! Elena couldn't have dreamed that Anna wanted her! She is poor and alone. Her everyday life consists of studying for college, working at the diner and not eating enough because she thinks about others before herself. Anna always ignored her. Anna knows everything about her, but Elena has no idea and is overwhelmed by the day her life changes fundamentally. She wants Anna, but what that means is insane and simply unbelievable! The little summary at the beginning of the book about the type of stories Jenna Kent writes prepared me for what to expect. This is my first book by her and I think I would definitely like to know what happens next with Anna and Elena ;) If you like insane Insta-love stories with dark elements, this is your book!
just finished The Blackburn series and didn’t realize Anna and Elena had their own duet. i really enjoyed their first book. Anna is over the top obsessed & possessive. Elena is just trying to get by, she was poor, alone, tired & her days consisted of studying and working. ——Elena and Anna are so soft together. they were perfect. and i loved how Elena wasn’t afraid to yell out her feelings to Anna. she was very upfront with the way she was feeling. ———now they’re married and living on a private island. like damn, okay period. but i knowwww some shit is about to go down in their second book.

fav quotes💍🩸❤️
“I need her like air to breathe, plain and simple.”
“She'll stay mine until I take my last breath, and even then, I'll find a way to keep her with me in the afterlife.”
“She's all of me, forever, and nothing will ever take her away from me... not even death.”
So to start, I didn’t really get into this very well. That doesn’t mean it’s not good! It’s very fast. It’s definitely an instalove (which it says in the description but honestly I didn’t read it until after I had started it lol, I just saw that it was FF and had a pretty cover so I one clicked it), fast burn romance and I’m not a big fan of that. I love the pining, the tension, and the drama of a good slow burn. This wasn’t that. It was good for a fast burn romance though. I like Anna’s whole obsessive “you’re mine” st@lker thing she’s got going on though. It’s also very $mutty, which I love lol. I just wish there was more, like drama to the book. It is good though and I’m going to read book 2.

A very short read that left me feeling unsatisfied with questions about the plot. Why was Anna so enamoured with Elena? Why was Anna the way she was? What is her backstory, her history? Why was Elena so quick to just go along with the events? I needed more substance to the characters. The spice was spicing though, so I enjoyed that aspect of it.
I could tell this author did not hire an editor. I counted many mistakes with punctuation, the spacing between em dashes, the confusion between when to use a hyphen vs. when to use an em dash, missing words, needing to separate lines within paragraphs and no dialogue tags after characters say something making it sometimes hard to figure out who is speaking, etc. It took me out of the story quite a bit.
Idk if it's just because I got the kindle ebook version, but this read like a Wattpad rough draft. Surely this wasn't a polished and published piece of work? Not with how riddled it was with typographical errors, whole words missing in some places, and even a time or two where the wrong FMC name was used. I saw it through though and overall it wasn't bad or offbrand for this writer's particular flavor of storytelling. The book just felt underdeveloped and downright unedited.
I loved this book I can't wait for the second one to see how much Anna and Elena's relationship has grown even more (if that's even possible for it to grow even more as it's perfect already) Jenna gets better with every book she writes and I honestly cannot wait for her next book! If you love obsessive and in love dominate women this is for you.
This book was definitely a page turner. The minute I started I was hooked. Elena and Anna are such great characters. I am excited for the new book. I am interested to see how they develop. They are so connected. I feel like they will be a dynamic duo.

I think I’ve read a few of Jenna Kent’s now and they’re all unhinged, smutty, sapphic chaos🤣
I wish they were a little more fleshed out sometimes, like the build up of the stalking etc etc, and a little more time before they’re utterly obsessed with eachother and all is forgiven, however they are really easy reads and they’re that unhinged they keep you entertained 🤣
Anna is in a dangerous family and she is obsessed with Elena, a woman from a poor background. Anna has to leave with her family or be hunted down, she wants Anna to go with her. Problem is, they haven't even had a date, yet...
2.5⭐️ wasn’t my fav, the spice was just the same word and scene all over again. there was not enough angst for the situation. there was obsession but not really deep. honestly it all felt very superficial
Characters felt very one dimensional. ;( Elena not having a set personality and switching between being okay with this kidnapping plot and being appalled by it.
Anna Stonewell has been secretly monitoring Elena Allen for the past 6 months. What she doesn't know is Elena has been fantasizing about her for the past year. They go on 1 date and end up hot and heavy back at Anna's house. The story gets more complicated from there. They share a strong bond even after Anna brings her to the family home against her will. This story intrigues me and I can't wait for the next book. This is a very steamy dark romance.
