Faithfully mimicking the rhyming text and illustrations of Dr. Seuss, this beginning reader [2.5 for me!] features those oh, so popular Sneetches. The easy-to-read text combines with the clearly drawn artwork so that beginning readers can gain confidence over the pages. The plot concerns the Sneetches planning a beach cookout featuring many youngsters' favorite foods: hotdogs and marshmallows. These are the perfect ingredients for a cookout, especially if the host provides different condiments for the hotdogs as seen in the story, and maybe a Hershey bar and Graham Crackers for a s'more dessert. YUM! Neither food is healthy, but they still taste so good.

The Dr. Seuss characters the Sneetches are back in a level one Step into Reading book about cooking at the end of the day at the beach. First the Sneetches roost their hot dogs on a stick and then take on sticky marshmallows. It's written in a verse narrative that makes it very accessible for young readers. The illustrations evoke the work of Dr. Seuss.
