In Earth’s last city one man will rise to tear it down.Finn Brasa works the reclamation yards of Metalhaven, one of nine work sectors in Zavetgrad — the only remaining refuge for Earth’s population after the Last War.Most of Zavetgrad live in fear of the Authority, who punish dissenters with brutal public trials that entertain the masses and tighten the yoke of fear around every worker’s neck. But as a rare ‘double-five’ Finn’s undamaged DNA makes his genetic material a valuable asset and gives him licence to bend the rules. Then, Finn’s defiance crosses a line, and his privilege runs out. Sentenced to death alongside his brother in all but blood, Finn’s only chance to save them both is to kill the prosecutors who have been trained to turn their trial into a bloodbath.Just as he’s thrown into the arena, a secret is revealed that offers Finn not only a way out of Zavetgrad, but a chance to tear down the Authority and break the chains of every worker in Metalhaven and beyond. But to do that, he’ll have to still be standing at the end of the trial.Hero of Metalhaven is the thrilling first instalment of the Metal and Blood series, a cross between The Running Man and Star Andor. It’s a story of struggle and rebellion against the backdrop of a planet ruined by cataclysmic war. If you love dystopian, post-apocalyptic stories like Wool and Red Rising, coupled with the action and imagination of Star Wars, you’ll love it.

Finn is one of those guys who should get ahead. He's good people, hard working, clever, genetically blessed - the whole package, right? You know there is a catch - the guy can not keep his mouth shut! Good people, remember, so his heart is in the right place, but man does that mouth get him in trouble! And this time, it might just be more trouble than he can survive!
Earth has become a harsh labor planet with a colosseum inspired justice system/entertainment arena. This crazy fight for survival becomes much more as Finn, never willing to accept the draconian rules forced on him, fights to change them. He's clever, and has some surprising allies. The odds are stacked against him, but he has some unexpected help and advantages too - and well as some serious enemies willing to cheat and stop at nothing to take him down. Loved the ending - what a great set up for the next book!
Hero of Metalhaven was an adrenaline-packed unexpected read. It's a dirty, gritty world with a lot of potential and I can't wait to see how Finn further disrupts it!
The unlimited imagination of the author G J Ogden again brings us an amazing story. A story of spaceships leaving the earth to an unknown place taking the powerful, rich and all which worth taking, while using the poor for slave labor to retrieve all that worth taking on the ships.
Is there a twist in the making.
There is much more to this book which is for me to know and you to discover. Beautiful penmanship and a great beginning in an awesome series.
Beautiful narration by Doug Tisdale Jr. of every character in this creation.
This story was a riot and so much fun to read. Introduced to Finn and a futuristic world that is not much fun to live in if you are not an elite which our hero Finn is not. Get to really know Finn and what he really thinks about his lot in life and meet some great characters as the story begins, many at the beginning I loved to hate and made me laugh. Then the fun really begins and get a story full of action, danger, wise guys, and a system that is harsh and crazy. Loved watching Finn and his interesting choices and wonder what he might do next and have to survive next. And really wanted to see how it would end. A well written and fun story that grabbed my attention from the beginning and did a great job sucking me in.
What's Broken💔 Can Be Fixed. ADULT Dystopian science fiction🚀 In this novel about humans, the earth is all but destroyed by war💥 and Different classes of humans are Developed. Some are much more equal than others. The book was very slow going at 1st but finally picked up Towards the middle. Finn🐺💪, in the worker🛠 class, has a big mouth which gets him into trouble incessantly, first with his fellow metal scrappers🛠, then with the work and law enforcement because he is constantly under surveillance. Usually he has the ability to talk his way out of the trouble But finally He is arrested when he goes too far. This is the 1st book in a series And ends in a cliffhanger.
I am a bit puzzled with previous reviews, I'm not sure we read the same book. I was disappointed on passing the halfway point and the MC was still peeing people off and getting slagged off by a workmate, that should have been sorted sharpish and then moved on. As it is we've just got past chapter one and moving on a bit, enemies created on both sides.....end of the book! It would have been more honest to get elsewhere and get some idea of what could be accomplished and with who. This has developed into the biggest cliffhanger since JR!!. I will persevere with a second book and hope it develops more.
I loved this book. Very often when trying out a new to me author I have to give the book a while getting started. Not this tome. I enjoyed reading it from the first. I find the writing rich and well developed and the same can be said for characters and story line. I have already pre ordered the next book in the series, voting with my wallet as it were.
What a story. Finn has special DNA that makes him different from everyone. Will he be able to save the city. Plenty of action, danger and more. No stopping until you find out what will happen. Didn’t disappoint.
Start of a new series in an environment that reminded me of Running Man. Finn isn't sure what he is, it seems, but always wants to help others and never keeps his mouth shut. And that will lead to severe complications.
After war has devastated the earth, the survivors lift segregated lives, those who have and those that do not. Finn Brasa is on the lowest rung of the totem pole. Hoping for something better, he finds himself on trial and fighting for his survival. Good opener to a new series.
Despite constantly tripping over his own pride, the hero manages to survive. His hubris has a price, even though he was warned he still fought authority to the end.
Absolutely brilliant book . The storyline is gripping and the characters have a great personality. I found it hard to put down and the book won most times. I totally recommend this book
