I feel like I’ve done this before. Except…not exactly like this.
There’s zero logic behind this feeling I have, this feeling that I’ve woken up in this hospital before. The doctors insist I’ve been in a coma since Halloween and only just woke up. Yet I remember waking up and seeing my best friend sitting by my bed but she’s not here now. I remember meeting two nurses who the doctors swear don’t exist. They say the mind is a complex place and it was just a dream, an unconscious desire to wake up. But I can see it clearly in my mind and no dream has ever felt more real.
Just when I’ve convinced myself the doctors are right, that science knows best, my aunt and uncle tell me that I’m a witch.
A witch.
I thought they’d lost their minds or were playing a prank…until I leave the hospital and find we’d moved hours away to a small community of witches. All I want is for this nightmare to end and for my life to return to normal. But my magic is too powerful to ever go back to life before the accident. They tell me my magic is the only reason I survived, yet I can’t shake this feeling that I’ve lost something huge…and the phantom pain isn’t the only thing haunting me. Something lurks in the shadows of the night and I’m afraid it might catch me before the truth comes out.
Because the more time I spend among witches, the less I know what’s my imagination and what’s real…
Miss Frankie is back and ready to brew up some potions and kick some demon butt. Chandelle has taken us through a whirlwind of emotions as we start this book with our heroine back in the hospital starting over from her coma with no memory of her time in the vampire court. I loved getting to return to the arcana community in Tampa and learn what has been happening since the Coven relocated to Eden.
It was fun getting to see Frankie have a superhero kind of origin story as with the last book she was whisked away into danger with the vampires. Having a non-human new bestie in disguise helps too, I knew something was off but dang that was wild. Plus, Chandelle can't help to tease and torment us when it comes to Cooper’s soulmate and life expectancy. Yes, I am thoroughly traumatized by those last few chapters and that major cliff hanger.
As with every book she writes, Chandelle has captured my attention with her wild found family of characters and witty writing. I have so many questions from this book and loved getting to see them revisit some story beats that we all wanted more information on, such as Aspen, the sister of the former devil card who tried to summon her sister back to speak and summoned a demon.

I am so glad I got my Coven back ! Frankie is a perfect addition to the fam and I cannot get enough. The first book was great but I missed the craziness of the Coven, so I’m happy we got more of them in this book. I dont want to spoil anything and I feel like I will if I keep writing. So all i’m gonna say is please read this book, obviously read the whole series. You can thank me later.
What a journey Frankie is on. I definitely enjoyed this book and I can’t believe the ending. I am super excited for the next book but a little disappointed that it’s not out yet.
I love the concept of The Potion Witch (The Coven: Vampire Magic Book 2) by Chandelle LaVaun, it was very well written and thought out. I love how in this book by we find Frankie back in the hospital not remembering anything about what she had experienced in book one ,The Blood Witch. But as time passed and she sees Everest again she starts to think that she’s losing her mind because she keeps having the weird dreams. Once she meets back up with the Coven and gets all of her memories back she realizes that she isn’t going crazy that her powers are growing and that Queen Sweyn is after her. She later on finds out that Cooper Bishop is her soulmate but she is struggling with it because she doesn’t have any feelings towards him. She is madly in love with Everest but doesn’t know if she can really trust him or not. As time goes on things starts happening and some secret start to be reveal but how will Frankie handle everything that she finds out? I guess that you will have to read The Potion Witch to find out what happens. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
You know that weird sense of deja vu??? Maybe you should listen to it next time because it has happened before!
Witches, surprise soulmates (OMG!), and cliffhangers (darn you Chandelle... write faster!!!!!) There is so much adventure; no one has a second to take a breath, I swear!
The book is centered around Frankie and her adventures(trauma), but it was amazing to get caught up with everyone else in the Coven and see what they have been up to.
This is the second book in the series, but not the first series in the 'Coven' world. Technically, I suppose it could be a stand-alone. But I would not recommend this as a stand-alone. This author has world built a whole universe of supernatural and humans and their rules. Some things may seem familiar, but their rules in this universe do not always line up with the generalizations outside of this book universe. I would definitely read the first book in this series before this one if I had not read the other series before this one. But it will be worth it!
The Potion Witch: The Coven: Vampire Magic, Book 2
The Potion Witch: The Coven: Vampire Magic, Book 2 ~~ The stakes are higher in this thrilling sequel as Selena dives deeper into the Coven’s dark world. With the lines between good and evil growing increasingly blurred, she must confront enemies from within and beyond while embracing her growing powers. This installment adds depth to the magical system and intensifies the romantic tension, all while weaving shocking revelations into the plot. The emotional weight and character dynamics are stronger than ever. Chandelle LaVaun elevates the fantasy even further with her brilliant storytelling and vivid world-building. The book was spectacular and I would definitely recommend reading this book and the entire series. I cannot wait until book 3 comes out. I waited as close as possible to the 3 book coming out because I wouldn’t be able to wait so long in between, but book comes out this month !!!
This book was absolutely incredible and has jumped to the top of the list as my favourite book so far this year.
I’ve loved every book in The Coven series and The Potion Witch is just as good or perhaps even better. I was completely hooked right from the start. So much happens in this story and there were so many twists and surprises that I never saw coming. I was completely shocked more than once. I seriously couldn’t put this book down and just devoured it.
I love, love, love Frankie and I loved her new friends. She’s so strong, confident and loyal and the kind of person that you’d love to have as a friend in real life.
The storyline was very clever and I loved the characters, magic and the descriptions of the worlds and events.
Honestly 5 stars doesn’t seem enough to show how much I love this story. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Chandelle does it again she keeps you on the edge of your seat and will have you up all night trying to figure out what is happening in this book. The strength that Frankie shows throughout the book is amazing and makes you realize what a great character she’s going to be throughout the series. She has been through so much and it just keeps getting more piled on top of her. Frankie and all of her traumas that she went through our eye-opening and then she finally figures out what has been going on. The rest of the Coven seems to have had a lot of recent adventures that were just as crazy as normal. You continue to see the relationships of all of the Coven mates grow and get stronger. Can’t wait to see what’s next.
This is just a phenomenal series’s and I can not believe we are only on book two. I have done nothing but read the last few days since I started this series as I can not put it down.Today I was up at 4am it is now 8pm and I have done nothing but read.
It is fast paced, the characters are amazing, Frankie well it is no surprise she thought she was crazy, however I love how her character just keeps growing as well as the characters around her. The Archie move was fantastic.
If you have not started this series this series yet, what are you waiting for? Get on with it!!! I promise you won’t regret it. It is the best I have read in a long time.
OMG, another fabulous installment in The Coven series, this one does not disappoint! After the traumas that Frankie went through in The Blood Witch, you'd think that she'd appreciate a reset but nothing in the Coven is ever easy! She is now experiencing disturbing visions and dreams and just knows that something else is going on. But she makes some new friends who provide her with unwavering support and a lot of answers, oh and Everest pops up again, so there's always that distraction! But when things get really hairy there is a lot of upheaval and change and nothing will ever be the same again.
That ending!! I need to reread this whole world; it's just so good. There are so many twists, the storyline is fast paced, and the characters are fun to watch grow. So many things happened that I was just not expecting. I live when Tegan shows her crazy but seeing most of the Coven again made me so happy. The ending just blew my mind. It is a cliffhanger, no surprise there, and it's such a good one! I need the next book in the series! This is spicy but if you purchase and want pg-13, you can contact the author with proof of purchase for the non-spicy version. I live that she offers that!
What do you MEAN I finished the whole thing in 5 hours 😭
The Coven has been an obsession of mine for a LOOOOOONNG time, but I won't lie, I was a little disappointed by the quality of the previous two books. (For various reasons , some things felt rushed, etc) They were the only two in the entire Coven that I hadn't given 5 stars. (They were a 4 and 3 respectively) BUT it seems this curse has been broken! The Potion Witch came in strong and I was hooked from start to finish! I can't wait for the Scarlet Witch!!!
This is a long read, so recommend starting the story early in the day, or readers will be up all night unable to put the book down. The author takes you on a heart-stopping action-packed whirlwind quest/magical journey - and in this installment the author breaks your heart and then puts it back together again. The Potion Witch reminds me why Chandelle remains one of my all time favourite authors. Absolutely outstanding addition to this series - it is on my 2024 Favourite Reads list and the next book is on my Must Buy list.
Chandelle LaVaun is an evil genius and this world/universe she’s created is insanely brilliant! From the very beginning this book is going to have you on the edge of your seat and second guessing your sanity. There were moments I did lose my mind! Pretty sure everyone who loves this series as much as I do knows the exact reason I was cursing her but by the end I was relieved then blindsided…. Again. I would give it a 10 if I could. Keep up the amazing work Chandelle you devil.
I loved this whole series and couldn't put them down. I can't wait fit the next one. These books are not young adult, and have a let of adult moments, do just be aware of that. They we recommended to me by Amazon even though I only read young adult and do not want go read adult content. I well say though that they were still great books! I just skipped this sections, however Chandelle does offer a young adult version for free if you buy the book here, if you need it instead. Great books either way!!
WOW! This book is a Rollercoaster ride that takes the reader from 0 to 100 in one page. We hit the ground running from the very beginning with Frabkie trying to figure out what is reality and fake while staying at the Vampire Castle. As a reader it is difficult to tell which version of each character is true. Frankie manages to meet up with the coven (can't spoil the how, and when) leaving Everest behind. Frankie has been one of the top five heroines that Lavaun has written and I can't wait to see where the next part of the story goes after that reveal and cliff hanger we are left on.
WOW! This was such an awesome read! I definitely missed the coven. Lots of action, a few twists that had me screaming -oh no ma’am you did not go there! Frankie is a force and a great addition to the coven. She’s fierce, a protector and such a great friend. Everest, he’s my new favourite in this series now, I cannot resist a shadow daddy! Near the end, when he uses his magic, reveals something, there’s hair grabbing, fangs….🫠🔥!!! That ending! Off to read the new book now because I can’t wait to see what happens now
I just can't get enough of this series and all these brilliant, and oh so colorful characters 😉. I have literally been binge reading from discovering the very first book of all the series, and read straight through to this point so far in about 1 1/2 weeks. The world building is phenomenal! Then these characters make you feel like you know them, and definitely want to hang out. I cannot wait to read the rest and be caught up to the most recent release. Definitely on my fave series to read list!!
Wow! This was a slow crawl for me. I have loved this series since I started reading it for Bittina. I hated that it took so long to see our friends again but the moment we did the story sped up so overall was worth it. I loved Archie. I think he was a DELIGHT! And what a fun way to play that. I really like Esther and I can’t wait to find out what her roll will be within the coven. I am worried for our friends who are still knocked down from the previous books. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I hang on every word of The Coven series. Frankie is an epic female role model. She is strong, smart, sassy, and unafraid to fight for what, and who, she believes in. Seeing more of what The Tower is capable of was exciting! The Potion Witch is packed with twists and turns. I flailed, screamed, gasped, and snort-laughed. Waiting for The Scarlet Witch is going to be torture, cause we know Chandelle loves it 🤣
I absolutely love Frankie, and this book does not disappoint. My poor emotions are still not recovered. And Everest? Oh my, I definitely need to know more about him. So much happens in this story. It picks up without missing a beat, and you learn so much more about the civilian witches and other things that I won't spoil. This is one of my favorite seasons. So buckle up buttercup because this is one ride that you can't get off of until the end
I got into this series because it was adventurous, and it keeps you guessing. To me the love stories, although cute, were secondary to the action. The didn’t really focus on the grown up aspect of relationships and it was a nice YA series I used to “cleanse the pallet”. But this has completely changed gears and gone grown-up in a big way. It took away from the story for me. I generally recommend the coven to my friends with teen daughters but that won’t be happening anymore.
I felt like someone was asking the questions, "How are we connecting? How do we get Frankie closer to where...? When? What? Why? The questions were being answered, but they did not make a lot of sense... they seemed disconnected. This book missed the flow of the first book. It got better and now another year until the next book?! I thought this was the end...ugh!!!!
OMG this was sooooooo good! Once again I found myself totally under this authors spell as we continue from book one and carry on with Frankie’s journey. Brimming with twists and turns as the author weaves their spell and hooks you from the get go, once started I just could not put this down. Love the world building, love the storyline, and absolutely love the characters and I would love the next book……please.
Amazing book! I have been a fan of Chandelle's for a long time. This is the latest installment of her series The Coven. It was such a fantastic read, I finished it and immediately re-read it. Frankie is an awesome character. It does end on a pretty big cliffhanger- so MA'AM, please don't make us wait a whole year! I'm not getting any younger MA'AM! Im going to re-read the entire series again and hope I make it last until the next book.
Chandelle has done it again!! There are very few authors who can get me in my feelings like Chandelle can. This book took me back to my feelings in "The Secret Witch" where I was so upset about the soulmate situation. I was super p.o.ed in this book but I made it to the end and am excited to see how things continue in the next book.
Keep playing with our emotions, Chandelle. I'm always game to read your emotional rollercoasters!
I half listened and half read the book. And I agree with the others, that Frankie's voice is nasal most of the time like her nose is plugged up. The book is very very very GOOD! But the audiobook voice for Frankie is horrible. She's done a GREAT job in all the books in the Coven series so far except for Frankie's voice. Hopefully the next book the reader will do better
Frankie is finally awake, and I don't think she gets a second to breathe from the moment it happens. New faces and old faces. Old magic and new magic. Soulmate surprises and many, many battles, this book has it all. Be warned ... it ends on a cliffhanger you won't see coming. And unfortunately, it's a whole another year till we will see how it plays out
Oh my goodness that ending…. Ma’am…. Absolutely loving Frankie and Everest’s story. Insert climb that mountain joke. But seriously, I’m loving seeing them on just a day to day basis. I’m loving all the interactions and new people and the group. Those twists ma’am… they absolutely be twisting. Love it! 🖤
Wow what an incredible follow up to The Blood Witch! I’m loving the multiple POVs, especially with so much going on. This book is an absolute whirlwind and it leaves you craving more! Frankie is such a strong woman and I really love the way that she handles herself. I can’t wait for the next installment especially after the end of this book!
