One thing about Ms. Adesuwa's series is that, as the story progresses, the books keeps getting better and better. Welcome to another Malomo High Reunion Series review and this is the book 4: "A Broken Kind of Love."
I usually start with the FMC, but for this, I'll switch things. Olumese, Olu... 😍 He proved to me that "age is a number." This is a reverse age-gap romance, where the MMC is younger. Anytime I was reminded/I read that, "Olumese is a small boy," my anger would just multiply by hundred because, these people can't see how he handles Ogugua. Olumese is that guy, Dimkpa! Even tough babe O.G knew when to relax and let him take charge. Plus, his pocket is loaded, so he's not a boy. O.G used his eyes to see something shaaa. 😂
Ogugua... First off, this name sounds too masculine. Before I started reading the series, I thought "Ogugua" was the MMC, till I read AUKOL. My problem with her started with the name but, it is what it is. Ogugua is so independent, and I love it for her. She's just like me; we're broke oo, but we'll never admit it so we don't become a burden. 😂 My anger at her was channeled to the fact that she was always running away. Single people, naso we de do. "God when, God when" but we keep running away from men. God will help us. 😂🤲 I thank God that "What will people say" didn't make her lose a good man because, "people will always say."
Eva wanted me to dislike her, shaaa. I just hope there's a story for her and "her friend", Tisan (I hope I'm correct), but please, let's talk about her and late Omoruyi too, @adesuwaonwokedi. 🥹 I also loved Zinna; she's a good and loyal friend.
Jachike is just like Achalugo's, in "Love in Every Word," ex. The same smelling behaviour. He pissed me off, when he wanted to play mind games with O.G. I thank God he didn't succeed. He and Olu's fight ehh... 😂😂 It made me remember Karibi and Emeka's fight, *pour me water* I ROTF!! 😭😂😂😂
I enjoyed this story so much, and I highly recommend.

Writing a review for this one was hard because I didn't know where to start from.
Let's say that the Yoruba proverb is true. What you're looking for far off might just be within your reach. Since this year began, I've been craving a reverse age-gap romance. I'm a mood reader. Sue me.
Back to my tale. I'd been craving a reverse age gap romance and all the while, I had a copy of A Broken Kind of Love. All it took was a dead phone for me to find out.
Anyway to my review proper. (Clears throat and puts on glasses)
A Broken Kind of Love (hereinafter referred to as ABKL) is a swimmingly delicious tale of a hot, bordering 40, down-on-her-luck lawyer who knows her onions and meets the incredibly smart, wears-small-shirts-that-reveal-his-happy-trail tech CEO desperately in need of a lawyer. Said CEO happens to be a whopping decade younger than her and the same kid whose suspenders she adjusted on her secondary school graduation day.
Love happens in the most, well, unexpected of places and without any concern for the rules because love rules without rules.
Honestly, I loved this book. I think it's my favourite in the series. (Sorry Abolore and Bioye). Adesuwa O'man Nwokedi (hereinafter referred to as AON) knocked it out of the park with this one. Olumese had me grinning like an idiot with his lines. And man, did he have some rizz.
I have a hard time crowning him the book bae extraordinaire of the series because of his I don't want... (Read the book to find out), but other than that, he was pretty dreamy.
O.G. is the lawyer I dream of being at her age (well, except for the job-hunting part). Frankly, of all the FMCs in the series, she's the one I could relate to the most. Maybe it's because she's a lawyer. Maybe because I could feel her fear of rejection. Maybe because she cared about what people would think. Anyway, whatever it is, I loved her. I didn't like some of her decisions though. But the pair made for an interesting, riveting read.
Now that I think about it, we ought to crown AON as the queen of Nigerian reverse age-gap romances. She did it with Ozioma and Banji, Kris and Bola, and she's done it again with O.G. and Olu, proving that love indeed rules without rules.
P.S. I consider Jachike too insignificant to mention at all.

This book took me through every emotion possible. I cried, swooned, laughed, felt like throwing hands, held my breath, and cheered like a madwoman.
Ogugua and Olumese's journey is one hell of a ride. It's raw, messy, tender, and absolutely addictive!

Olumese is a man that wears his heart on his sleeve and knows exactly what he wants from the jump. Meeting O.G (older by 10 years and his elder brother’s classmate) didn’t just spark an interest, it shook his entire world and he knew he’d found the love of his life. But the real question is: will O.G put aside the shame, guilt, and societal expectations about age to embrace the man her heart has already chosen?
One of the things I loved most is how this story is unapologetically Nigerian. From Abuja as a backdrop (my city!) to Olu being a tech bro (my field!), everything felt real, relatable, and beautifully grounded. Adesuwa’s writing doesn’t just skim the surface of romance, it dives deep into the rawness of love: the awkward pauses, the doubts, the undeniable pull, and the kind of chemistry that makes you pause mid-page to whisper, is this really happening?
This book is layered with lessons too. It challenges biases around age and love, reminding us that love can bloom boldly at any stage of life. It shows that intelligence and sound judgment in a partner are deeply attractive. And it reminds men (yes, men!) to be intentional in love because Olu’s pursuit of O.G was pure, consistent, and absolutely heart-melting.
I’m two books away from finishing this series, but I just know this one will remain my favorite. It felt tender, rebellious, and deeply moving all at once. I laughed, I sighed, and I felt every heartbeat of O.G and Olu’s journey.

4.5 stars!!! A page turner I haven’t been able to drop it down since I picked it up. Catch me anywhere there is agw-gap romance. Then this done the reverse case, done right no crindge feeling. A woman being loved right. The book I read the fastest! The series gats better. But what makes me giddy is Olumese such a mature guy who loves BIG! His love is BIG, loud and swoon worthy.

An interesting story filled with lots of emotions as O.G and Olu navigate the rocky terrain of love and relationship despite age difference. Finding the joy and peace from the ashes of pain and sorrow, this book continues the Maloom High Series as snippets of the lives of other former classmates is seen.
Strength in relationships, forgiveness, growth and joy is well packed in this book. Kudos to the author.

Another great book by Adesuwa but oh my gosh! Why don’t these people ever just communicate? OG would’ve easily just told the guy she’s pregnant. Her little disappearing act after the surprise party was so selfish and I failed to enjoy the book after that. Still a good book though

I would’ve rated it 4/5, but honestly, I got veryyy exhausted toward the end. AON is one of my favourite writers but I’m tired of her self-sabotage fetish. The characters in her books frustrate the hell out of me!

Wow, I absolutely love Olumese! He really redeemed most of the men from the Malomo series. OG definitely had me stressed 😫😪, but I was still here for all the drama. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, kudos to Adesuwa! The plot was easy to follow and held my attention.

The MMC has my heart, very emotionally expressive and it broke my heart everytime the FMC broke his. While her reasons are somewhat valid, she stressed my guy mehn 😢. I’m still very salty at what the writer did to Omoruyi 🙄🙄

Olu my guy… Olu is the definition of a true lover boy. The way he loved up on O.G needs to be studied because!! He loved her with every fiber of his being, and the fact that he’s a whole decade younger didn’t matter one bit.
What I especially loved about their relationship was how, despite the age difference, O.G respected Olu. Not once did she stop him from being the man in their relationship, she allowed herself to be cared for, and it was beautiful to see.
Their love? Their chemistry (and they had LOADS of it)? Everything about them just worked, and I loved it all. Can you tell I love this book? 🤭 Olu might just be my fave Malomo MMC besides Bonju 👀💕.

I have a weird kink for age-gap romance, and I absolutely enjoyed reading Olumese and OG’s love story. If you’re a fan of the trope like me, you might want to pick this up.
This book follows Olumese and OG, who find love in the most unexpected place. With OG being ten years older than Olumese, there were plenty of barriers, self-doubt, and challenges thrown their way. I absolutely love Olumese—his intentionality is so beautiful to read. He’s expressive, sweet, and vulnerable. And the whole “we shouldn’t be doing this” dynamic? Loved it! Lol😂
That said, while I enjoyed the push and pull between Olumese and OG, sometimes it got frustrating—especially on OG’s part. Girl, just communicate with this man properly!
The dual POV is chef’s kiss. It gives readers full insight into the characters' thoughts.
Also, the way Adesuwa explores grief in this book is so beautiful. Uyi’s death was vividly written in a way that feels so real and immersive.
