This was a great slow burn romance book. This was a bit outside of my comfort genre since I don’t read romance very often, but this one was very good. I loved the main characters in this book and it was very well written. If you are looking for a romance book, I recommend giving this one a try.
Searching for a swoony romance with all the right guilty pleasures? Look no further than Skye McDonald's new book, "Just Your Type." The latest in her Anti-Belle series, this novel follows Megan Riley, who after a spectacular breakup is reevaluating her life trajectory to figure out what's next, and Luke Paris, a bit of an uptight business genius who is crap at social small talk but great behind a keyboard. I won't spoil a thing, but as with all her books, McDonald masterfully navigates between points of view as Megan and Luke untangle their romance, and who they are as individuals along the way. This volume is the perfect next step in the series, featuring intertwined cameos from the other characters we've already met in the Anti-Belle world . . . and some who will feature more prominently soon. (Thank goodness! I already want more.) Equal parts sass and steam, this book is one you won't want to put down---I sure didn't!
Y’all. This is my first foray into the Anti-Belle series and I most definitely started out of order… but…. This book was amazing. I could not put it down. I loved all of the characters and their vibe with each other (and I will be starting at the beginning asap) and from the moment Luke and Megan met, I knew there would be sparks! So many fun twists and surprises and some super steamy love scenes that you should definitely not be reading during breakfast in Panera….. I legit binge read the second half of this book in one rainy morning. I highly suggest you get to know this crew, if you don’t already. You will laugh, you will cry, and you will most definitely want more! I cannot wait so read Quinn’s story when it comes out!
I enjoyed this story, it made me laugh, cry and scream with frustration over Megan's antics. The two main characters are realistic and relatable. Would recommend!
Megan Riley is a hairdresser who owns her own salon, 615 Styles. She lost her parents and brother in a tragic car accident in her teens and received a $10 million settlement which she has parlayed into $2 billion. Her financial advisor Darius brought a new investment opportunity to her attention which just so happens to be the app (Chat Me Up!) her friends have created. She becomes a silent major investor.
Luke Paris is the newly hired CMO and marketing genius for her friend's app. He is very stiff and formal. He spent the last 6 months on his own self awaking journey.
Megan recently got dumped by her boyfriend over a year and is having an existential crisis. She decides to close her salon for the summer and take time off to find herself. They meet when her friends Liv & Will send Luke to her salon for a haircut before the four go out to dinner and a concert. Her friends the Addisons ask her to be the brand ambassador/local Nashville consultant for Luke. After the party she goes home, downloads the app and uses the alias Pearl. Luke also goes home and creates a profile on the app using the alias Wolf. Pearl and Wolf make a connection and open up to each other. Meanwhile she and Luke are attracted to eat other but don't act on it because of their working relationship. At a promo event Luke realizes she is Pearl and she has a major freakout (she tends to run from her problems). They eventually meet back up at his mother's Hamptons home and end up hooking up for a week until she freaks out again and takes off. They reconcile and get their HEA.
It was so good to be back in the Anti-Belle book world! I have read all three other books and enjoyed them all. This was no different.
Megan Riley is close to her small group of friends, but they don't know a secret that she keeps. Because of a family accident, she inherited (and since invested wisely) a large sum of money. When her financial advisor brings an investment opportunity to her about a different type of dating app, she chooses to invest and then finds out it is her friends' app!
In the beginning of the story, Megan is dumped by her boyfriend, but doesn't find herself too upset about it. Instead, she feels at a loss in her life. She temporarily closes her hair salon, decides she is in her first date era only and seeks to find herself.
The app brings Luke Paris into her life, too, as he is the CMO for the app. They don't hit it off at first. She finds him very stiff and formal. He unknowingly insults her, too. I like that the more time that they spent together the more they talked and got to know each other.
Thank you so much to the author for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Title: Just Your Type Author: Skye Mcdonald Genre: Romance Trope: Secret billionaire, online dating, grief, and healing Format: EReader Length: 318 pages
My thoughts: Just Your Type is a slow-burn romance between Megan and Luke.
Megan has just been told by her ex that she isn't what he needs. This sends Megan into a stand still with herself as she tries to figure out what she needs in her life.
Luke is very career driven when he sets his mind to something that he is unable to fully relax in casual social situations.
Megan and Luke's relationship is refreshingly different from other books I have read. It feels more real as there are struggles they both suffer that they need to overcome about themselves.
I recommend reading this book if you are looking for a slow burn and reading about characters finding themselves.
This was a really sweet, funny slow burn enemies to lovers.
I loved both our main characters. They stood on their own but so perfectly complimented each other. The banter was on point, and at times, hot as hell.
I was cheering for both of them throughout the book. That last hair cutting scene had me happy dancing as I read. And the ending was unique and so very them.
Woah! What a read. I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster. It covers grief beautifully, covering mental health and includes neurodiverse characters.
I loved how it was written, it flowed really well with chat messages, friends that are like family and an amazing storyline. I am so in love with the characters and wish I had friends like them.
After losing her parents, Megan wins a settlement that leaves her very financially secure and with clever investments she is set for life. She often invests in startups which leads into her investing in her friends al without them knowing. Luke is brought on board for the app therefore being embraced in the friendship group. I just loved their connection and their story where sometimes I just wanted to swoon ( especially when he spoke in French).
This is a must read in which I throughly enjoyed. It is the first book by this author but won’t be the last.

One of my biggest qualms (in general) with rom-coms is that the FMC usually decides to overlook character flaws, both in herself and in the MMC, and skip off into the sunset without trying to fix their own issues. You throw that with the “billionaire-complex” found in a lot of contemporary romances, and you have a book that is predictable and a little lackluster.
That was NOT the case for Just Your Type, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book for that reason! Megan is a hairdresser by day and occasionally moonlights as “Boss Megan”--a woman who, through unfortunate circumstances, came into a large sum of money. Instead of letting that money sit, Megan put it to work and was able to compound her savings, yielding her a billionaire. And what do billionaires do? Invest in more projects to make their money grow. One of these startups happens to be an app, coincidentally created by her friends, to help people talk to each other. It’s like a dating app but without the pictures. Megan, after a really awful breakup, decides to not only back the app, but also join as “Pearl.” While campaigning for the app, Megan meets Luke–the marketing director for the app. The two are like oil and water in person—Megan is outgoing and effervescent, and Luke is awkward and closed-off. However, the two need to work together in order for the app to be a success. Along the way, Luke and Megan find that they have more in common than they originally thought, and are learning that they may care about each other more than each is willing to let on.
This book exposed the character flaws of both Megan and Luke, and waited to give them their happily-ever-after until they had worked through some of their own issues and trauma. I absolutely LOVED that Megan had to do some soul searching before she could fully commit to Luke, and I appreciated that Luke let her do that without trying to excessively win her back or, on the complete opposite end, get under someone else to get over Megan. I also really enjoyed the gender reversal for the billionaire—way too many books focus on the man as the billionaire, and I liked that Megan was both female and down to earth about her status. Luke is such a wonderful character, and I enjoyed the ASD rep—I felt like it was well written and Luke’s characteristics were seen not as flaws by the other characters, but as simply a part of what makes Luke, Luke.
The writing was engaging, the storyline was unique enough that it wasn’t overly predictable, and the characters are well detailed. I enjoyed the text conversations strewn about within the story, and I loved that we didn’t have to wait forever to find out who Wolf was on the app. Totally a great and engrossing read, and I will definitely pick up more by this author in the future.
“Did you think there was anything you could request that I’d not give? You wanted a kiss. Done. You wanted space. Done. You want me on my knees? Fucking done.”
So if I’m being 100% honest I wasn’t sure about this book to start. I felt like it was taking me a minute to get involved with the characters. I figured out that’s because while not necessary, it helps to have read the other books in the series to understand the people mentioned and the dynamics. Set all that aside I also prefer my romances a bit shorter… However.
This book was really good. It has a diverse friend group with huge found family vibes! It has humor and banter. It has a lot of banter! I wouldn’t really say enemies to lovers but definitely some tension between the two main characters. This one is a slow burn and I mean a SLOW BURN but the anticipation and banter make it okay.
I loved that really it was Megan going on a journey of finding herself and what she wanted from life! It was beautiful to watch her work to find that. The book has a few emotionally intense moments towards the end, and I think they are more impactful if you’ve read the other characters stories. I love when the book makes the female the billionaire character and I liked the approach the author took with that.
It has a lot of the natural rom com predictable plot points. Yet, who doesn’t enjoy those it just makes it more entertaining I think. I did struggle some with the shift in Luke that we see, but I guess it makes some sense, it just was hard to adjust to it for a minute. Overall, this is a cute romance. I really enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed this read. It did take me a little while to get into, but once I did I loved it.
This can be read as a standalone (as I read it) and still be enjoyed but I think you would hit the ground running with this of you have read the previous books.
Megan is 28, a secret billionaire, hurt and shaped by her past. She is having a summer of her, which involves stopping any real connection with people and self sabotage. But she does find a great new job and meets Luke Paris a reserved, grumpy, business minded man, who doesn't do small talk and makes her have very inappropriate thoughts.
Then there's Wolf, she meets him on the app she has invested in and is working with Luke to promote, it's all anonymous with him, but things are more than surface deep and smoking hot, all online ofcourse. When Wolfs true identity is revealed and Megan revels the parts of herself she hasn't revealed to anyone, it's still not clear if true love will win out.
Loved Wolf and Pearls exchanges, everything about the Hamptons and the HEA
A fun and quirky read.

Just my Type is a steamy, slow burn, opposites-attract, enemies-to-lovers romance. It is part of the Anti-Belle series. Megan is a sassy, outgoing hairdresser and secret billionaire. Luke is a hunky, grumpy, brilliant, and somewhat socially awkward Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for a dating app. Megan just happens to be a silent investor in this app that is owned by a friend. Megan was dumped and decided to take some time off to find herself. Luke seems to be having a similar journey. The two meet at her salon when friends bring him for a haircut. There is attraction at work, but Megan thinks their relationship needs to remain professional. The two end up joining the app and get paired unbeknownst to either due to chat names Pearl and Wolf. The two hit it off and get to know each other through these chats. But what happens when they realize they are paired together? I thought this couple had great chemistry. The story was hilarious at times, and after some drama, we do get a happy ending. This was my first book by this author, and I look forward to reading the others in this series.

This was an enjoyable read. It is book 4 in a series so I felt I lost out on knowing the character's contentions to each other. There were times when I felt like I was missing pieces to a puzzle. However overall a good read.
The contention between Luke and Megan was slow to ignite but once it did I was all in. I liked that the characters had an in-person attrition but really delved deeper via an app. In a world where everyone seems to be on some sort of app, this book really brought that to the forefront.
I liked that the author made the app about talking and not just dating. I enjoyed seeing Luke learn to loosen up and watch Megan come into her own self. Plus the chemistry between the two was hot. I found myself rooting for them because they were imperfect alone but together they were perfect.
I would say that if you want to read this book start at the beginning, it will make getting to know all the characters a lot better and you will love them all even more.

While Just Your Type is book 4 in the Anti-Belle series (the only one with a cute cover, looking forward to the others being revamped), the story was very easy to follow without having read the first books. But, my interest was definitely piqued and I am excited to read more from this group of friends.
Anyway, back to Megan and Luke. Loved that she was the billionaire in the relationship, while to be fair he is still from a wealthy family. The way they connected both through an app and in real life, with all the connected longing and sighing and miscommunication was very sweet and believable. And turned hot and believable.
Did not like the “sapiosexual” idea (the people who say they are that, are not my type of people) and please do not say “bodily fluids” when you mean tears (“I exploded in a mess of bodily fluids and noise.” Ew.)
It took a while for me to get hooked, but then I really enjoyed this read!
I received an ARC of this book (thanks!) and these are my own opinions.
This is a swoon-worthy, slow burn romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The back and forth between Megan and Luke was light-hearted. The hair-cutting scene had me smiling and kicking my feet because it was a perfect way to begin wrapping up the story.
It is a romance book with the centralized focus being on the two main characters, yes; but it focuses on the romance and love we have to show ourselves. It covers grief, mental health, and includes neurodiverse characters. It’s a relatable story that I am glad to have read.
I was deeply moved by some incredibly beautiful and poignant moments in the story, which left my heart aching for all the characters. In the end, this book was not only filled with humor but also radiated a heartwarming feeling. I’m eager to read the next installment in the series!
This is the fourth book in this series and this is Luke and Megan’s story. Megan is a hairdresser who owns her own tragedy, and she suffers from survivors’ guilt after she lost her family tragically, and was left a large fortune, which not even her friends know about. When Megan finds out that her friends need an angel investor for a new app they are developing, she has the funds to help. Luke does not like socializing or small talk, but there is an instant connection between himself and Megan. This is a well written story which has secrets, opposites attract, undeniable chemistry, humor, witty banter, romance, tragedy, loss, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner. Megan and Luke are at odds on the outside, but when they get onto the app and just talk, their real backstories, emotions and fears come out, bringing them closer together. Love the characters, their undercover names, the swell of emotions and the entertaining situations. Totally enjoyed the storyline right from the start, with the unique backstory of Megan the billionaire as she hides who she is from the world, and the great group that surrounds her. It was great to see how they finally get in front of each other as they should be. Well done.

This was such a fun read and I loved following along as Megan discovered who she was and watching her start opening up to Luke and to her friends, having her realize that no matter who she is, her friends love her just the way she is. The reveals and twists within this story were fun to discover - from the secret that Megan was keeping from her friends and why, to having Luke and Megan discover each other's secret identity in real life. I really enjoyed Megan and Luke's story and I can't wait to read more from this author.

I love a good slow burn romance and this was it y'all! In this book our MC is Megan who just had a horrible breakup that is having her question everything. She has had some tragedy in her past as a younger person but is making a successful name for herself as business woman in her older age. Lucas is coming into her salon by request of a friend and also he is the CEO of the new app that Megan is a huge investor in. So of course when they meet you anticipate some kind of problem eventually being between them learning all of this. Well it was a good read overall. Adding in that they both make a profile on the APP to talk to eachother.
Wow, what an amazing read. This was my first Anti-Belle book and I must go back and read the rest. I have not laughed this much while reading a book in ages. Also, I swooned no less than 15 times. Megan and Luke are great characters and I loved the dynamic between all of the friends. This is the second book I have read by Skye and I must say, she is great at describing characters and providing background that feels relevant to the story.
I received an Advanced copy of this book for free in exchange for giving my honest review.
Slow burn romance . Luke and Meghan narrate . On paper , they’re polar opposites and incompatible but Luke finds out he really would like to find the real life version of Meghan . I laughed and cried and swooned and swore in anger all while reading this book. It gripped me from the beginning and didn't let me go. What an awesome introduction to this author. I can't wait to go back and read the first 3 in this series.

A fun read, the story of Megan and Luke who meet when he moves to town. They meet in real life but also unknowingly through an app that conceals their real identity - what will happen when they work it out? looking forward to the other books in this series.

I didn't like the whole Adam and Meg vibe from the last book, but Luke and Meg I cannot GRT enough of. I wish this app was real. And I am so happy for Meg her journey of finding herself is amazing and inspiring, maybe I should go on a solo trip and start journaling
Woah.... loved Luke and Megan's story. It's definitely a roller coaster of emotions throughout the book. Also, some foreshadowing with her hockey series. Can't wait to read the next one.
I have to agree that this is one of Skye's best yet. It's a slow burn and I loved that we got to see so many of our fav anti-belle characters sprinkled throughout!
This is a grumpy /sunshine slow burn spicy romance. He is awkward around people. She makes friends everywhere. She is afraid of losing people, and he is as steady as a rock. She has money that she hides from everyone. When they start working together, things get interesting. A good read.
I like the angel investor angle! Interesting. Marvelous writing; great characters; love the slow burn What a pleasure to read. I didn't buy her 2nd time running away, hence 4 stars.
