Now fully updated to reflect recent airline mergers, advanced technology, and changes in the airline industry, this handbook provides astounding information about airports, aircraft, and air travel. "I can't imagine what's missing from this (book); you could damn near fly a plane".--New York magazine. Color illustrations.
Obviously much of this 1978 volume is dated now (including, alas, all the stuff about how delighted the pilots will be to welcome you into the cockpit) but it still does a good job of demystifying airports and aircraft. I especially enjoyed the colour illustrations of airline liveries, many of which are no longer with us (vale Pan Am, Dan-Air et al) and the spotter's guide to aircraft ditto (Caravelle, Concorde).
Good historical book for Aviation enthusiast while this book is somehow "ancient" for the current 21st century of aviation. Nice model and infographic to explain how aviation work from the departure to the arrival.
