The popular Kanji de Manga series continues with an all-new selection of 80 kanji geared toward English-speaking manga fans who want to learn how to read, write and speak Japanese. Original manga characters help students identify the most common kanji characters used in everyday Japanese. Includes definitions, pronunciations and sample compounds, all in a fun, friendly and familiar format.
This is not as fun nor effective as I thought but it sure does deliver on its title. The first problem is the "manga" strips doesn't have a bigger story arc to it so it's like reading a book of example sentences with pictures. Also, one of the example sentence has the son calling his father sissy because his father couldn't catch up to him? Hello? What, you couldn't have found a better word for that? This is another problem with this book series. The book attempts to teach you Kanji and Japanese but the English itself is clunky and strange so I have a hard time absorbing the new words and find myself focusing on it's flaws instead. The last thing is... the manga strips are drawn left to right... That's a missed opportunity.
