A wonderful find and a quick read. This book is an interview with an elderly Austrian woman, Maria Simma, who has been receiving visits from souls in Purgatory since 1940. She was 25 years old at the time of her first visitation. Maria is a very simple, humble soul and she answers all the questions put to her by the author, questions which we all would like to know about what happens after death and how we can live now so as to go directly to the arms of Jesus when we die. Maria offers many positive suggestions. Mostly she emphasizes charity and forgiveness; let go of all grudges, criticisms, and disordered/wrong attachments. And most of all, begin to help the souls in purgatory now, through your prayers, Masses, sacrifices, willing acceptance of suffering and acts of charity.

What a little gem I found in this book! Sister Emmanuel of Medjugorje interviewed Maria Simma when she was 82 years old; Maria came from a poor family and lived in a pretty village in Austria.

Maria had such a great faith and a wonderful devotion to Our Lady and to offering not just her prayers but most of her life for the souls in Purgatory. The stories that Maria has to tell in this book are amazing and so moving! Her love of her fellow human beings is remarkable. Maria tells us of so many ways in which she personally has helped the Holy Souls and gives us many ideas that we can take on board to join her in our own lives. The goodness of this lady shines out of the pages of the book. Maria died in 2004 but I am sure that her own time in Purgatory was very brief due to all her works of piety and kindness.

I was taught as a child the importance of prayer for the Holy Souls and have always included them in my own prayers but after reading this very small book I felt a renewed understanding and a need to do far more with my life than I do at present. It is never a waste of time to read about something that we thought we knew all about, with time we forget or become lax in our efforts and a little nudge now and then certainly does me good!

I'm trying to immerse myself into this topic (soul in Purgatory) and I find this book useful for that purpose. I really want to help and also be more aware.

Estoy tratando de sumergirme más en este tema (las almas del Purgatorio) y encuentro este libro muy útil para ese propósito. Realmente quiero ayudar y también ser más consciente.

This book is bringing the message of hope in the afterlife. Through ups and downs in life, if we bear them patiently and try our best to keep doing the right things, in the end everything is going to be fine.

This book totally renewed my spiritual beliefs and strengthened my prayer life. It used stories from Maria Simma, a gifted woman who can see and talk to souls, to give several revelations about Purgatory, Heaven, and the like. Chills definitely ran down my spine at first, but as I continued to read, I began to do self-reflection about my actions and motives towards other people. It provided a great deal of enlightenment. It was perfect to read during the Holy Week. Thanks very much to my sister who lent me this one and her co-worker who owns it. :)

Oh my, what a great short read. Maria Simma was an Austrian nun who lived from 1915-2004. When she was 25 she was graced with a very special charism, the charism of being visited by many souls in purgatory and being able to communicate with them! In her own words she shares some amazing secrets about the souls in purgatory. She answers questions such as:

What is purgatory
How do souls get there
Who decides if a soul goes to purgatory
What are sins that most lead to purgatory
How can we help a soul be released from purgatory
Are there religions which are bad for the soul
Are there children in purgatory
How can I avoid purgatory

This a remarkable interview on after death realities, one that all of us will realize.

Considering death, as I often do, this little book was a bit of an eye-opener to if and where Purgatory exists and why. Though I'm not Catholic and am convinced of very little, for now, telling God that "I Quit" will remain on the back burner. I've made many bad decisions in this life I'd probably wind up with even less options....Thank You Sister Emmanuel for your patience in putting this together.

If only we read this book, we won't live another day for others without praying, fasting, loving, repenting, offering up to Christ, forgiving, asking for forgiveness and receiving the Sacraments. We can still grow In our faith, and pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Please read this book and once you do, give it as a gift to your loved ones. God Bless you all!

I have heard about Maria Simma and her encounters with the Purgatory Souls many years ago through my uncle. He lent me a book about her and ever since I've never stopped thinking about it. I have purchased the book again twenty few years old later, which has prompted me to pray for the Purgatory Souls knowing how much it helps them to reach Heaven and also how much they can help us the living here on Earth. Highly recommend to read it and not just once.

Thanks to the writings of many Saints, I have a tender love and deep devotion to the poor souls in purgatory. Such a beautiful, well-written pamphlet. Remember to pray daily for your dead, and for those who no one prays for. Their gratitude for your immense love will never end and only help you in eternity.

This was a very helpful book for me to gain a better understanding of purgatory. The book also includes a few useful prayers, chaplets, and novena's to say for the souls in purgatory.
I also found helpful the list included of the Indulgences and how to gain them.

Simply wonderful for a religious Catholic trying to understand the role of Purgatory in human salvation. Answers many questions competently and thoroughly. Worth twice the price.

Given to me years ago as a birthday gift from my brother-in-law Noel who died in 2009. I will ponder its contents and read it again before passing it along.

I think everyone should read this book. Great insight into purgatory.
A place we are all going one day.
My brother told me he was "praying for purgatory". I said I am still praying to go to heaven
