Bad pacing. Unique world, but still very undefined at the end of book.
The story just meandered. I had trouble with logical plot holes and horrible pacing.
The main character, through most of the front of the book, keeps considering the knowledge that he's learning to take back to his world. So there's no real excitement to understand his experiences and the new body that he's in. Throughout the entire book the main character searches for answers, and is repeatedly given tidbits but never a clear understanding. After a while, it's just annoying and convoluted. Throughout the entire book he can never figure out the magical mechanics of the world and it's so convoluted you just stop caring and it becomes an annoying Factor. The sporting cast is always a constant conflict with the main character, at times they are insufferable, and take away most of the main characters agency. The main character allows this and it becomes tedious. Main character also has the ability to absorb knowledge... But can never seem to do so. I found the whole story meandering, slow-paced, and just not worth caring what happens in follow-up books. If there are future additional books in this series, I'm going to pass on them.
