What Are You Waiting For?

Looking for a guidebook that isn’t full of tired, lame, or even BS travel information? 101 Places to Get Fucked Up Before You Die brings together the most irreverent and legit accounts of drinking, nightlife and travel culture around the world. Part guide, part social commentary, part party invitation, 101 Places gives you all the info and inspiration you’ll need

* Blowout one (or several) of the year’s biggest festivals
* MacGyver your way into underground clubs and backcountry raves
* Throw down with people from the Himalayas to the salt flats to Antarctica
* Travel in every conceivable style—from baller to dirtbag—to some of the most epic spots on earth

Do you really know where to go out in San Francisco or Tel Aviv? How about preparing for Burning Man or Oktoberfest? The award-winning journalists and photographers at Matador Network let you know what’s up at each spot, whether it’s drug policies, how to keep safe, special options for LGBT travelers, or simply where to find the kind of music you like to dance to. No matter if you want to rage at Ibiza or just chill on some dunes smoking shisha, 101 Places has something for you.

So, hop a flight, raise a glass, and join us as we breach security, ride ill-recommended ferries, and hike miles into the wilderness all in search of the parties and places going off right now.

The great philosopher St. Augustine once said, “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” Wise words. But we’d like to add that if you travel and stay sober the whole time, those might just be some boring ass pages you’re reading. Unless, of course, you choose something from the pages of 101 Places To Get F*cked Up Before You Die ($14.00). The ultimate guidebook for people who like to have fun, 101 Places was written by the award-winning journalists at the Matador Network, experts in all that is travel.

It covers every type of venue there is to have a good time at, from the world’s biggest festivals that are on everyone’s bucket list, like Burning Man or Oktoberfest, to the places you have definitely never heard of, like underground clubs and backcountry raves (don’t worry, they’ll give you tips on how to get in). 101 Places To Get Fucked Up Before You Die also outlines important stuff you need to know, like how not to get arrested and/or shanked, where to find the type of music you like, even how to track down LBGT party spots. If you’ve got a passport, and a fully functioning liver, you need a copy of this party bible. We think St. Augustine would approve.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. This is a fun travel guide, written in the format of a typical guide, with various contributors giving their suggestions for places to eat, sleep and socialize. And by socialize I mean, of course, get wasted. The guide is not comprehensive, but rather a top 10 picks for different categories of partying. I wish it was written a little less as a guidebook format, and maybe more as short travel essays, as this isn't going to be a book you actually bring along in your backpack. (I was going to say suitcase, but if you are using a suitcase this may not be the book for you anyway!)

101 Places To Get F*cked Up Before You Die definitely is "the ultimate travel guide to partying around the world." It is hilariously informative. If you like to party and have an urge to travel, but your not sure where to go, this is the book for you. I have been inspired, by this book, to put on my traveling shoes and see what the world has to offer.

Eh I really wasn't inspired to visit many of these places after reading this. A few here and there maybe but thats it. I was more interested in reading which places they'd picked on locations I'd been to before to see if I'd been to any of them or missed them. I did like some of the first hand stories too.

Fun read; my experience of some of the cities listed are different in lots of ways and I'd recommend different spots in most but opened my mind to some places of have never considered places for drinking trips and have some ideas to take forward.

Not that I didn't like this book but I don't find myself being in many of these places. I've been fucked up in many places and they were just as fun.

It would be wrong to give this book a proper review, as I am obviously not in the target group. I will say one thing, though, and that is the fact that the section on my own hometown of Oslo is so full of inaccuracies that it's nothing but embarrassing. I just hope the other 100 places are described by people who have actually been to them. Still relatively entertaining though, and I would LOVE to see a rock/metal friendly guide like this. Anyone up for making one?

This was a rather amusing coffee table book when I was given it by a friend 6 years ago but you can get all the same information on google and there are no amusing story's that keep you reading. Also since the book was written many of the places mentioned in it have closed down , if anyone is interested I have a more detailed review on my YouTube channel

A party bible.

This has helped me plan a number of trips: Cape Town, Kings Day in Amsterdam, Full Moon parties in Thailand. It’s very clear about what each location has to offer.

If Tucker Max joined forces with a group of rowdy 19-year-old Australian backpackers and wrote a travel blog, bound it, and sold it for $20.00 this is what it would look like. Then again, with a name like that - what was I expecting?
