We Are Eternal: What the Spirits Tell Me about Life After Death

Rate this book
For over 20 years, internationally known medium Robert Brown has seen every form of crossing over. As a psychic investigator, he has tested and retested the claim made by spirit communicators: that there is no death. Though many prominent people have sought Robert's services, including Princess Diana, Robert has also helped thousands around the world communicate with their lost loved ones. Now he reveals what those who have crossed over want us to know about the other side and this world, sharing stories of clients who have gained peace of mind knowing that their loved ones do go on.

This book will explain all Brown has found to be true in mediumship and the spirit world, including how the spirit world works through spirit communicators-or mediums, how the process of spirit communication actually works-how John Edward does what he does on TV, what happens when our physical body dies and our beta body reaches the other side, and what the spirits really want us to know about abortion, capital punishment, suicide, evil spirits, and man's inhumanity to man. He has also witnessed first hand some of the world's greatest mediums, and through these interactions, what he has learned could change people's views on life and death forever, confirming that there really is life after this life.

Robert Brown psychic investigator and medium to the stars was born in London, England in the 1950's; his mother was almost 40 years old at the time, and he had several siblings as well. The first time he actually remembers seeing anything he was 5 years old. His mother was giving him a bath in the sink, when she had to leave to answer the door. He states that she was gone no longer than five minutes when he looked at the window and saw a man laughing at him. He started screaming and, of course his mother came running. He adds, "before you start thinking it was a 'Peeping Tom' we lived five floors up". This would not be the last he would see of the laughing man. The next time he was 8 years old. Looking through some very old photographs ( which he had a great fascination for doing ), he came across an old photo tucked behind another. It just fell out, he says and he knew instantly that he had seen the face before. He wasn't scared, just curious and went to ask his mother who the man was. It turned out to be his mother's brother whom he had never met. He had died a tragic death, some years before Robert was born.

Robert Brown answers a lot of questions about mediums and psychics, but honestly I had a hard time finishing this 256 page book. This book could have benefited by a good editor; very scattered and poorly written in my opinion. I have read many better books on this subject. I was happy I only paid $1.00 for this one at a book sale.

A POPULAR MEDIUM TELLS OF HIS LIFE, AND MANY OF HIS VIEWS

Spiritualist medium Robert Brown wrote in the Preface to this 2003 book, “Most of the world’s religions have held out to their believers the promise of better things to come… [But] they are careful to prevent their followers from having complete knowledge of what is to come… probably out of fear of losing control. Certainly what I have found to be true about what happens after the body dies has been known to some people for centuries. Yet it is only in recent years that there has been a definite return to thinking for ourselves, to realizing that we are responsible for the way we treat the Earth and each other and know, for ourselves, what happens to our souls… The truths that I have discovered about life after ‘death’ are equally available to all.” (Pg. xiii-xiv)

He continues, “There are … universal laws … By understanding them and … cooperating with instead of fighting against them, we can live the lives that we desire, choose, and deserve… these laws are very simple. Over the centuries mankind has sought to explain these laws, often complicating them in the process, through ignorance and fear of the many religious institutions, through the egos of scientists who found evidence of these laws but who could not demonstrate… their workings… It is my belief that the time has come for us all to understand these laws and take charge of our lives… The many roads … ad blind alleys that I have traveled in pursuit of these natural laws and the answer to man’s oldest question about life after death have led me to the conclusion that WE ARE ETERNAL.” (Pg. xviii)

He recounts, I was sixteen when I was introduced to my good friend and mentor Peter Close, who set me on the path of self-discovery… His mother, Esther… was also a healer and had considerable experience with a group called Spiritualists… During [a] visit I listened as Peter spoke of the comfort he had found by attending meetings held by these ‘Spiritualists.’” (Pg. 10-12) Later, he adds, “I was desperate to find out more information about Gaye Muir and her mediumship abilities, but my parents were justifiably concerned… [But] Peter somehow assured them … that the Spiritualists were good people … He also thought that it would be a good idea for me to meet Gaye Muir. He knew that she ran a development circle and as a teaching medium she might be able to give me the guidance I needed…” (Pg. 23)

He continues, “After Gaye left, I tried my hardest to join Ivy Northage at her ‘School of Mediumship.’” (Pg. 32) He goes on, “One very important aspect of this school was that … those being groomed to work as mediums should be given the opportunity to experience working in front of an audience or congregation.” (Pg. 36) But before long, “I completely walked away from Spiritualism, disillusioned… One of the hardest lessons I had to learn was that not everyone who claims to be a spiritualist is necessarily spiritual… Not to mention mediums with enormous egos!... Was this what it was all about? Money? If that were the case, I was going to have nothing to do with Spiritualism or mediumship at all. I had resolved to turn my back on that community entirely.” (Pg. 42-46) But soon, “Surely to do this work well would take all my time… I, of course, had to live and had bills to pay. I also saw no reason for living in a cave and begging… Perhaps in order to fully develop my abilities and powers, I would have to devote everything I had to Spirit.” (Pg. 46-47)

He states, “It has long been suggested that apart from the physical body we have a secondary body, often referred to as the beta body. Many people maintain that this beta body is the seat of the soul, the REAL you!... While the physical body is alive, the two are connected, and in some people this cord ca n be extremely elastic, allowing the beta body to occasionally roam far away from the physical body… Many people believe that this theory helps explain the many near-death experiences people have had… It is only when that silver cord is actually severed that death… occurs and the physical body ceases to be… But … the beta, the real you, continues.” (Pg. 59) He adds, “Fortunately… we have a preponderance of people who can prove… that there is indeed life after so-called death. There are a number of [mental mediums’… living all over the world… Some may seek fame and money, but most genuinely wish to share what they have found to be true…” (Pg. 61)

He explains, “As an ordained minister I am well aware of the contentious---to some OFFENSIVE---statement that Jesus was a medium. Yet only when we understand the workings of the natural laws will we know that this is the clearest explanation that we have of the phenomena of his healing and teaching ministry. This does not in any way suggest that any medium before or since was or is of the same spiritual development as Jesus.” (Pg. 74)

Of suicides, he says, “Do they regret their action?... Yes… for the pain that they inflicted on those they now realize truly loved them… whom they witness being in pain and distress on the Earth plane.” (Pg. 82-83) Of children who pass at an early age, he asserts, “It is my understanding that the souls of children who pass before their parents are highly developed spiritually. It is often the case that the younger someone passes the more spiritually progressed that person is. It is these children who come to bring out the love in their parents, for … that kind of love can never be ignored. These children are our teachers.” (Pg. 91) Of those with physical/mental challenges (e.g., Down’s Syndrome), he states, “have you ever noticed that another part of the body or personality is compensated? This occurs because the soul is perfect, and even if one part of the physical body does not function, the soul… shows its beauty in a pronounced way in another.” (Pg. 103)

He observes, “It is of no surprise to me that in America three of the foremost respected mediums were either raised Catholic or are practicing Catholics. What does surprise me is that the Catholic Church has not spoken out about them. Could it be that the knowledge so long buried in the Vatican vaults is the same knowledge that these and many other mediums regularly demonstrate[?]…” (Pg. 108)

Of pets, he states, “I have often been asked, ‘Do our pets also survive death?’ I can categorically state, YES! and I have witnessed the actual proof… Our pets do not … suddenly … acquire the ability to speak English. They can, however, retain their ability to communicate…” (Pg. 114) He says of reincarnation, “I find myself in a quandary. In the first place… I have found no evidence to prove that man reincarnates… And yet I remain a firm believer in reincarnation…” (Pg. 118) He also says, “I have met some people who claim to be … in contact with those who are evil… like does attract like. That universal law operates here on Earth and in the spirit realms The majority of us will not come n contact with evil, and we will be met at that point of death by loved ones.” (Pg. 143)

He summarizes, “I have come to the conclusion that communicating with Spirit is not for everyone. Some people do not desire it, others are opposed to it, and some, on both sides of life, are simply not ready for it. With my mediumship… I am always trying to push the known boundaries.” (Pg. 167)

This book may appeal to those interested in mediumship.

I recently lost my mother very tragically and unexpectedly. She was my best friend, we had a very special relationship I will always cherish. As being someone who all my life has struggled with death; fear of death, the unknowns, is there anything after death, her sudden passing has been exceptionally difficult.

I've never been a "religious" person, when asked my typical response is, "I don't know what I believe in, but I'm more spiritual than religious". I have only been to one medium, it was a group reading. I was never spoken to, however the whole experience was mind blowing.

With the sudden passing of someone so important to me, I've been struggling with so many thoughts, questions, emotions. Death has always scared me, and I've always told myself I have to believe there is something after death. With my mom's passing, I feel that now more than ever.

I was looking for a book to read from my bookshelf today, and the first book my eyes landed on was this one. I don't recall where I got it from, but after picking it up and reading the covers, I knew I had to read it. I'm very glad I did.

This book really opened up my mind to all the things I want to believe in. It has given me hope that there is indeed life after death, and that one day I will be with my mom again. It also gave me peace knowing that she is watching over me, she is still here, not in body but in spirit. And I feel that her and I will communicate in the future, when we are both ready.

For anyone suffering a loss and trying to make sense of it or find peace, I strongly encourage you to read this book.

I'm halfway through this book and will probably put it down, never to finish, very soon. I wanted to hear some amazing stories about contact with the dead that might sway me, but Brown isn't very big on anecdotes.

Not only that, but he's in serious need of an editor. Every page has 10 or 20 dumbbell mistakes on it, from grammar to malapropisms to impossibly complex sentences to contradictions to whatever fault you can name.

I did get something out of the book. However, when I got to his pontifications about pets in the afterlife and discovered none of my questions were answered, I realized it was time to put the book down and not waste any more time.

I really want to believe it all, but it deserves more study on my part.

Couldn't finish. Didn't have much in the way of speaking with Spirit as it did on his training and accomplishments and hobnobbing with other 'famous' mediums.
