Rate this book
Olvina the plucky chicken is back for another adventure!

Olvina can swim about as well as she can fly, but her reluctance to swim hasn't been a problem until she's on vacation in Hawaii with her friend Hailey. Will Olvina let her fear of the water spoil her fun? Not with Hailey on the job.
Children (as well as chickens) may find learning to swim a daunting challenge. This reassuring story shows that with a little courage, lots of practice, and the help of a good friend, one can accomplish just about anything.

Learning how to swim is a first for many elementary aged children. This book shows how easy and fun it can be to learn to swim. With the help of friends and supportive comments, Olvina learns to swim in the pool and the ocean! Swimming is something all children should learn, and this book could be a great way to introduce swimming.

This book is appropriate for ages 3 to 6 in early childhood classrooms. The book “Olvina Swims” was Grace Lin, talks about how Olvina learn to swim. At the beginning, Olvina is hesitant about water. When Olvina get nervous about learning to swim, her friend Hailey encourages Olvina to practice more. I like this book very much. Many children learn how to swim when they are young. Some of them have fun in playing water. Some of them feel nervous into the water. It shows that children when they are trying something new, they need friend to support them, have courage little by little, and do lots of practice. Friend is very important in our life. Talking with friends, they will encourage and help each other to overcome problems and challenges. When I was young, I said that I can’t draw. But my teachers and classmates encouraged me to try again. Once I began, and put my mind to it, I could see the fruits of my labor. I learned that I need to be able to let go of things, bring my idea out, and do what I can do, that’s it. This book helps children not to give up when they are fail in something, and encourages them try it again and again. In this way, they will do better and better.

This is an adorable book about how much courage and practice can help you achieve something you really want. While on vacation with her friend Hailey, Olvina the chicken has to learn how to swim. In the book, she learns to swim in the pool and the ocean. This is a great book for children because many children are learning how to swim while they are younger and then can relate to it.

Olvina, the very "chicken" chicken of "Olvina Flies" is back. Now she is conquering her fear of the water, which she does with the help of her penguin friend Hailey. Kids will cheer on Olvina, especially those who have had similar fears of their own!

A great book for a child who is hesitant about water, or just learning to swim. Simple, straight-forward and depicts that many people ( or animals) get nervous when they are trying something new.

An interesting series featuring Olvina the chicken (in more ways than one). This time she faces her fear of swimming.

Another Grace Lin picture book. This is for younger kids. It's a great little story about learning to swim.

So my favorite thing in this is 1. there is a giraffe in the pool and I love that and 2. the life guard at the ocean is an alligator. Which is worse, needing the life guard or drowning. haha. Hopefully, it's a nice alligator.

I think this would be a good story for kids, but it's not the most exciting story for an adult to read, honestly.
