Since the first feline walked into the first human dwelling and decided they liked the staff, Cats have been going where they want and doing what they do. Whether hunting, lounging or deigning to grace their companions with company, cats will continue to do what cats do.
Which is anything they want.

I've had a very varied life. I grew up in New York, on Long Island. I went to school to become an Engineer, then joined the Air Force. After that I worked first in Robotics, then in Aerospace as a Flight Test Engineer. I moved into the medical fields, then into more Technical markets working for a number of high tech companies where I became a Contractor. I used to own and raise big cats. I love motorcycles and old cars. I'm a pilot and former martial arts instructor. I'm a fan of the Reno Air Races. Then there's the stuff I'm not supposed to talk about, but that's another story. I've seen a lot of interesting stuff go by, met a lot of interesting, wonderful, strange, or sometimes just psychotic people. I've had the opportunity to work on some truly game changing technologies. And while I've had some very bad things happen to me in my life, I've never let it stop me. Keep smiling. -John
This book reads like a collection of short stories written by a group of eighth graders. Cute but not groundbreaking and could certainly use some constructive criticism.
My favourite quote:
“Inevitably, rats come and rats go on the underside of the gangplank. Think of them as a free-ranging version of your human herpes.”
This was something alright. I would've DNFed it so fast were it not for book club. I think the stories were too short for any real plot or character development - everything seemed to resolve itself too quickly and conveniently.
"Shot, shoveled, and shut up" and "Sneeze and diarrhea!" were some highlights...
It you like sci-fi and if you like cats, it's a MUST read!
A fun collection of short stories built around the concept that in the future, humans have dozens of planets we've colonized throughout space. And, just like back in the days of sailing ships, cats are our companions and help keep ships vermin-free. Oh, and cats have been genetically engineered, and cross-bred with alien DNA, so now they are sentient, have human-level (or better) intelligence, and can speak to us telepathically.
I'm not a horror fan, so Biting Off More Than You Can Chew didn't appeal to me, but the rest of the stories are awesome and made me want more set in each imaginative, adventurous world. I want to give special mention to John D. Martin's wonderful Patel family story; I met the family and friends in Cow Not Found and loved them, so I was glad to read Grey, a story set earlier in their colony adventures.
I'm a ScFi freak and a cat lover. Got my first cat 🐎 71 yrs ago, Midnight. Have a MaineCoon, a white spotted moggy and found a tiny grey kitten in mu garage this week.. Yup someone dumped it. It snuck in my house today so it's mine now. Read my first ScFi book at ten, read 2 or 3 a week now that I'm retired. So ScFi and cats in one book YES! Perfect 🥰
A fun fast read with a variety of storytelling styles. Great for cat lovers with plot points utilizing traits we all know and love in our feline companions. Rounded up from 3.5 to 4 for a couple of the short stories with very creative world building.
