This was just weird, but I'm a sucker and I bought the series before reading it because it sounded good.

We have shifters who don't shift, shifters who don't realize other shifters exist, shifters who don't kill-even when threatened and attacked, and shifters that don't know that the government is after them.

I started out really liking this story, but as it progressed, there were too many things that dragged it down. The premise of the story is good but I don’t feel the author pulled it off. The dialogue between all the characters throughout felt very off, like they were all strangers under a spell. There were too many inconsistencies as well. Neither Connor, nor his brother Eagan, both shifters who allegedly can scent another shifter, were able to tell Silver was a shifter, yet Ana, not shifter but a witch, could. The point was made several times that when a shifter is mortally wounded or dies, they morph back into their human form, yet Silver was severely wounded and near death but he remained a wolf. His explanation was that he was too weak to shift. Hmm, nope, that just doesn’t fit.
And then there are the cabins. Connor’s lair and the cabin they built for Eagan and Ana are in the middle of the forest. Both have indoor plumbing, hot water heaters (they do talk about the hot showers), and wifi and internet access. How? How do they get the running water? Is it gas or electric heating their water and how do they get it? Perhaps the witches cast spells for them!
The final thing I didn’t like was that, as I got closer to the end, it was very apparent that there was not going to be a conclusion of any kind. I don’t mind series that follow a theme and introduce new characters along the way. I absolutely hate getting sucked into a series in which I have to get through half a dozen books to hopefully get an HEA for our MCs. It would have been really nice if the summary blurb indicated that this was a cliffhanger series.

I have always loved paranormal romance especially those with twist and turns as this one did. It was a bit hard to follow though, however it did keep my attention from the beginning to the end. It was told in a serious way with just a bit of humor. It was a pretty entertaining story line.

Connor had lost the love of his life to an accident and from then on had become a recluse, sort of. However when he came across an injured wolf, he was surprised to find out that wolf was a shifter who did not have any memory of name or history. He had named him Silver while he was a wolf and just kept calling him that afterwards. He had been sad for so long, now the feelings were coming up slowly. Silver comes off as an alpha of some sort, but was tender and very loving.

There was little sex in this story. However, you know from the moment that Connor starts trusting Silver that it will be hot and sensuous. There is lots of action and danger in this story, with lots of surprises in it. Shape shifting wolves is only one part of it. I did like this story, but wished that there was more history in each character, but it was pretty good.

I do hope that there more about them in the next book of this series and cannot wait to find out. I sat down with this and just sat there and read till the end. I didn’t want to take a break, not wanting to miss a bit of this story.

I have waffled on whether to review these books together or separately. I ended up choosing to review them together for a few reason. First of all, they need to be read in order. There is an overarching mystery and plot that extends from book to book. In many of the installments, the mystery overshadows the main couple. Secondly, I have very similar comments to make on each story.

Way too much telling me what happened instead of showing.

The story was okay, but I would've liked more details about the characters.
