Alex’s own hand shook slightly as he reached up to cradle her cheek in his palm. She flinched at the contact but didn’t shove him back as he’d feared. He stroked his thumb gently across the silken curve of her cheek, dying inside because he needed so much more. “It was me,” he whispered back. “Whatever I did and didn’t tell you back then, it was still me.” He wrapped the fingers of his other hand around her palm, pressed it to his chest over his pounding heart. “I’m still the man you knew, no matter what else has happened.”

 photo tumblr_memkgmdc8U1rkmcsko1_500_zps89b87d7a.gif

Instead he leaned in closer and put one hand on the door, caging her between it and his body. “I don’t want you to think, I want you to feel. Feel me, Grace. Feel this.” He grabbed her hand again, pressed it tight to his chest. “Feel that? The connection? It’s still there, you know it is, because it’s real. Whatever else I lied to you about, I never lied about this.”

Sorry.
Sorry means you feel the pulse of other people's pain as well as your own, and saying it means you take a share of it. And so it binds us together, makes us trodden and sodden as one another. Sorry is a lot of things. It's a hole refilled. A debt repaid. Sorry is the wake of misdeed. It's the crippling ripple of consequence. Sorry is sadness, just as knowing is sadness. Sorry is sometimes self-pity. But Sorry, really, is not about you. It's theirs to take or leave.

Sorry means you leave yourself open, to embrace or to ridicule or to revenge. Sorry is a question that begs forgiveness, because the metronome of a good heart won't settle until things are set right and true. Sorry doesn't take things back, but it pushes things forward. It bridges the gap. Sorry is a sacrament. It's an offering. A gift.

"Then I guess I'll have to keep showing you how I feel about you until you actually believe it."
For a moment he thought he'd gone too far, that she'd shut down and retreat from him emotionally, but instead she studied him with an almost wistful expression.
"How do you feel about me?"
(…)
"You're the only woman I want, and I'd do anything for you."

Except for the prologue, Rekindled picks right up where Extinguished left off. Still, you could read Rekindled as a standalone if you don’t mind to read out of order. Keep in mind that all the secondary characters have been introduced in the previous books, though.

Alex met Grace four years ago while working another high-risk job in the Middle East for the NSA (National Security Agency) and fell hard and fast for her. However, due to an incident they separated 'involuntarily'. Now Alex is back in Islamabad, Pakistan. A terrorist and his minions are keeping him and the Titanium Security team on the go. As chance would have it, Alex spotted Grace a few days ago on a market in Peshawar and can't stop thinking about her. His source confirmed that she's residing in Islamabad for the next few days. Grace's professional background is very interesting. She's got a PhD in chemistry and is a chemical weapons inspector for the UN. Of course her stay in Pakistan is work-related; she has no intention whatsoever to get involved with Alex once more. Regardless, Alex is very determined to make amends and win her heart all over again. Although before that will happen, Alex and Grace have a few barriers and dangerous situations to overcome.

Rekindling old but not forgotten feelings…

"Alex. Quit stripping Grace with your eyes and get in here."

Since I read and loved Absolution and the fifty-year-old main characters Luke and Em, I was asking Kaylea to write more stories about mature H/h. So when I started to read her Titanium Security series and set my eyes on Alex for the first time, I found myself in the same position again. Asking Kaylea to please, please give Alex his own story. I gotta tell you I was on pins and needles to get my hands on Alex and Grace's book. Come to think of it, I’m pretty much game to put my mouth and hands all over Alex’s delectable body and I wouldn’t mind to enjoy his expertise, sharing some out-of-breath moments with that gorgeous man myself. I make no bones about the fact that I'm a sucker for older, mature main characters, especially when it comes to my heroes. Alex fits the bill but the same can be said about Grace as well. Alex is 51 and Grace is 46. Come on, who wants to read more stories that feature main protagonists in their 40s and 50s? Newsflash, publishers, I’m not the only one! We’re all getting older and I believe that reading tastes change which, in fact, is very positive. Despite all the big sales of YA/NA books, I believe there is a market out there for my kind of book. My kind of hero. A very sexy and mature man in his early fifties who craves a second chance at love. And he's ready to give anything and everything to get his Grace back.

Besides, let's not forget that sex gets better with age--comparable to good wine. Believe me, Alex gives fabulous head, and I’d volunteer any day. Rekindled is an action-packed, fast-paced and emotional read with some angst that ends on a very beautiful note. The sex scenes are steamy and enticingly written by Kaylea Cross. It goes without saying that Grace and Alex share some intense chemistry and their longing and passion for each other is very palpable. Although Grace doesn’t make it too easy for Alex to win her back, and he was quite ready to beg to enfold her in his arms again. I loved the beautiful final chapter in which Alex showed his best side; he was charming and teasing as all get out. And the epilogue was the icing on the cake. No, scratch that. The icing on the cake was the final chapter and then the author decided to add some chocolate sprinkles on top of the icing when she wrote the epilogue. Fair enough.

What I especially loved about Alex is the fact that while he clearly holds the reins in the bedroom, he’s not ashamed of making himself vulnerable when he interacts with Grace. Of course he’s the expected tough alpha male on the job, though. Near the end is an angsty and very dramatic scene that proved how much these two love each other. I know this scene was very “apt”, yet the author accomplished to surprise me and left me rather shocked. Also, all the MCs of the previous books made several cameos and got a chance to do something good. Gage…you know I love you, you sexy beast! As I see it, Kaylea writes some of the BEST mature heroes. Luke, anyone? And with Alex she added another gorgeous specimen to her collection.

Alex couldn’t take back what happened four years ago, but he could offer an apology to bridge the gap and push things forward. Like the citation states, sorry is an offering and a gift all at the same time and Grace accepted it, washing away the pain and sadness, refilling the hole in her heart for a well deserved second chance at love.

"I XXXX with you that night, and every day since." Maybe not physically, but his heart hadn't known the difference. "I've missed you so goddamn much," he said hoarsely.
He caught the flash of surprise and tenderness in her eyes, then she put her free hand over his, pressing it against her cheek. Holding him there. "I missed you too. But I'm here now."

Four years ago, Grace Fallon and Alex Rycroft’s relationship was ripped apart following a devastating attack on her in Mombasa, Kenya. The normally stoic NSA division head and leader of the task force experiences a major distraction when he sees Grace in Islamabad. He’s not moved on and she’s still angered and hurt by his abandonment. She’s also there leading a team of UN chemical weapons inspectors who are trying to iron out a deal involving the Syrian government. It’s highly sensitive enough but now, because of Alex, she’s become the focus of one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world.

This was the final showdown for the task force and it was pretty intense and exciting. Yes, there’s a novella that follows but it is clearly an afterthought as this book has a finality to it that works. It was fascinating to see Alex so unsettled while at the same time focused on dealing with Malik’s escape (we knew that was inevitable). His developing relationship with Grace did not take a secondary place to the task force operations as the author adeptly managed to integrate both extremely well and culminating with an explosive climax. And, the epilogue is one of the best as most loose ends were neatly tied.

I’ve enjoyed this series and especially liked the suspense aspect. The writing was nimble, expertly researched and downright effective in making me nervously turn the pages. I got invested in these characters and look forward to one more visit through the novella.

Brilliant!

5 fantastic stars!

This book was an AMAZING ending to one of my favorite series!

The writing, story-line, and characters were wonderful to read and experience.

I couldn't put it down until I was done.

I absolutely LOVED Alex and Grace together!

Alex knows he messed up with Grace 4 years ago. He knows he destroyed whatever trust she had in him, and that he broke her heart.

 photo http3A2F2F31.media.tumblr.com2F9f2d2226ef6ad6537f550ba0992870e12Ftumblr_n083zpLo9K1rh1wv4o1_500.jpg

Because of the undercover work he was doing he couldn't stay with her after she got hurt, and he has lived with that guilt and regret ever since.
He knows that Grace is the one, the only one for him, and now that he knows she's in the same city as him he will stop at nothing to get her back.

However, time is not on their side. They both have highly important jobs to do and deadlines to meet, and Alex knows that if he pushes Grace too far too fast he may end up losing her forever.

The author did an amazing job of writing the passion and intense attraction that sizzled between Grace and Alex.
It came across as raw and primal, and it was easy as a reader to become engrossed in their story.

This was such an incredible story of second chances and redemption.

I really liked how the author wrapped up the story with Alex's nemesis Malik Hassani. Justice was definitely served.

...but, my most favorite part of the story was the incredible epilogue.
Thank you Ms. Cross for letting the readers know how the team members from "Titanium Securities" ended up getting their "Happily Ever Afters"!

Opening Line: “Arms folded across his chest, Alex Rycroft leaned back in the hard plastic chair and stared across the stainless steel table into the prisoner’s dark, defiant eyes.”

This was my very first read from Kayla Cross, even though I’ve been hearing about how awesome she is for years. I’m not sure what I was waiting for but it was worth it; living up to all the hype with a fantastic, smart and sexy romantic suspense. I will definitely be picking up her entire back catalogue. I should also mention that while this is book #5 and the last from her Titanium Security series I read it as a standalone and did just fine. (Followers of the series will appreciate a wedding at the end including cameos from all past heroes/couples.)

I have to mention first off how much I loved reading about a more mature couple, I’m just a couple years younger than the heroine Grace and I’m not dead either so this was a welcome change. And Alex, jeez what can I say? A fit and fine (like wine) 51. Bring it on.

I think one of my favourite things about this story was Alex’s unwavering love for Grace. From beginning to end he just loved her and was willing to do anything even if that involved just waiting (for 4 years). He unapologetically admits to not having slept with anyone else in that time as they just couldn’t compare, sigh. Grace doesn’t give in easily, I mean there’s a lot of hurt for her to work thorough but come on, how could she resist? Together their sexual tension is palpable and then there’s that little indiscretion in the hotel car park. Nice.

Four years ago Dr Grace Fallon lost everything in a terrorist attack. Left alone with a bullet wound to her belly, she lost her future and the man she thought she knew as Jack. Turns out he was just using her as part of his latest mission; their love affair was a farce.

NSA agent Alex Rycroft had no choice but to leave Grace in the hospital and he’s kept a quiet distance ever since not wanting to inflict any more pain in her life. But when his nemesis Malik Hassani escapes custody and locks his sights on Grace and the chemical weapons she’s involved with eradicating nothing can keep him away from her. He’s willing to sacrifice everything to save her including his life and she’s forced to except his protection.

Rekindled is an edge of your seat, action packed, emotional read. It’s a sweet and sexy second chance at romance between a mature couple with intelligent writing, steamy sex scenes, a great bad guy and a nice virtual vacation via the exotic location in Pakistan. Not much more you could ask for really.

A story about second chances and healing…

Four years ago, Alex met Grace while being an undercover for NSA. The two fell in love fast and ended abruptly, resulting in them both having broken hearts. Alex being an undercover had to leave Grace which left her devastated. After four years, Alex saw Grace again and found out that she is now a chemical weapons inspector for the UN. Alex knows that he can’t do anything about the past but still attempts to make amends to Grace which made her vulnerable to Hassani’s machination. Aside from Alex & Grace we also have Sean’s & Zahra, as I read his POV, his fears and on how he treated Zahra my heart broke for him💔. Good thing we have Alex to guide him. 😊

“Much as he hated what had happened to him, hated the weakness and the terrifying prospect of spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair, he knew he’d never needed anyone as much as he needed Zahra now.”

All in all I like the resolution of the story and the entire series. The suspense kept me on edge, KC did an amazing job with the plot and the chemistry of Alex and Grace. 😏👌🏻👍🏻

“ Feel that? The connection? It’s still there, because it’s real. Whatever else I lied to you about, I never lied about this. Us. ”

“ I bled with you that night, and every day since.”

*2,5 stars*

As far as I'm concerned, this serie is a poor remake of the author's Suspense series. The Suspense series wasn't perfect but it has some great books. The Bagram Special Ops series is original and good. But this one? Total loss of time and money. The only reason I read it all is because it was a challenge and the books are shorts.

That being said, Rekindled was maybe the best in this bunch even though there were holes like houses in the plot, too much sweetness and don't get me started on the bondage scenes... *rolls eyes*

A 4.0 STAR read. This wasn't my favorite of the series but I'm glad Alex got his HEA. He certainly was intense and alpha with his feelings towards Claire. Very "growly". I think the issues they had in the beginning regarding their past were resolved a little too quick for me but overall I liked it. A good, second-chance romance. Loved catching up with Sean in this one too. Looking forward to seeing what comes next in this series.

Solid second chance romance and a good suspense plot, but the best part of this book, and series as a whole, are the action sequences. They are fantastic. Kaylea Cross knows just how to put the reader right in the middle of the action and make them feel everything.

When NSA agent Alex Rycroft catches sight of Dr. Grace Fallon, it was like being dropped through a rabbit hole. Right in the middle of an important manhunt, he can't afford to lose focus, but there is too much unresolved for him to let her go without trying to get to her. Four years is a long time and the time is now.

Dr. Grace Fallon was a victim in a terrorist attack that she survived but lost her trust in a man she loved with all her heart. When she comes face to face with Alex again, she knows that her heart still isn't completely mended. But, how to you face the man who ripped it apart, without it happening again?

Grace is in Pakistan with a UN team there to negotiate with Syria to disarm their chemical weapons. It is important and secret work, career making work. When Alex reappears in her life and tells her that she is in danger, because of him, she just doesn't know what to do. Accepting his protection and being near him is not what she has in mind for this trip. The terrorist Alex is hunting also has a different ending in mind and that is for both Alex and Grace to end up dead.

This one left me with emotional residue. I LOVED it.

Who doesn't love a second chance story? I love the more mature characters, the complex dilemmas, and the hot I-know-what-I'm-doing sex. Of all the characters in this series, Alex is the stoic one, the one who is always in control. So, it is a joy to see him finally let go and FEEL. They say that still waters run deep. I love watching/reading Alex dive into the deep end. I am moved by Alex's profound sense of regret because of the choices he made in the past that got in between him and Grace. I am completely captured by the deep emotions in this story. Kaylea Cross gives us a hero that has a deep sense of yearning, who realizes a need to be open and vulnerable.

Can you tell I'm totally enamored with this character?
You will be too.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book five, the final one in the Titanium Security series.

When reading a series, it’s hard to be as objective with each book in the series because no matter how hard I try not to, I’m comparing the books… I liked Rekindled better than Singed, Burned, and Extinguished but still not as much as I liked Ignited.

The gist: This is Alex’s book. Alex is the NSA guy who has been in charge of the investigation into the terror network that has been the ongoing plot of this series. He’s Claire and Zahra’s boss. Four years earlier, while working undercover in Mombasa, Alex met Grace. They had a whirlwind romance that ended abruptly and resulted in both of them having broken hearts. Now Claire works from the UN as a chemical weapons specialist. Alex spots her in Islamabad while he’s there investigating the terror network. His connection with her is brought to the attention of the bad guys and they attempt to use her as bait in order to take Alex and the Titanium team out.

I REALLY liked Grace. It’s pretty much impossible NOT to like her. Alex was alright. As a character, he was about like Sean for me – he didn’t really interest me. It WAS endearing how much he cared for Grace, though, and regretted the way they had ended things. Their romance is a second chance one and it’s sweet.

As with books two through four, the story itself is what appealed to me as opposed to the romance aspect of it. This one didn’t necessarily have my adrenaline pumping, but it was fairly intense. Quite a bit happens in it and it’s like a race against the clock in some ways.

There weren’t any discrepancies that jumped out at me in this one, so that was a plus. There was a scene in the SUV, however, that had me scratching my head. Grace and Alex are in the SUV and he’s just parked in his hotel’s parking garage. Instead of going up to his room to get it on, HE climbs over the console, reclines the passenger seat back and they dry hump and get all hot and bothered. When he pulls back because he suddenly realizes they’re in a car with a perfectly comfortable hotel room just a few floors above them, he leans up on his knees on the seat. Okay. Not only was like “Huh?” because they were groping in a car like teenagers in the parking lot of the hotel, the fact that it was in the front seat didn’t compute for me. Alex isn’t as big as Hunter and Gage, but he’s still a big man, powerfully built, yada yada. How big is this SUV??? He climbed over the console to get to her instead of pulling her to his side. Then the passenger seat must just be massive in order for him to kneel on his knees between her legs on it. And the roof must be incredibly high in order for him to kneel on his knees on the seat. CLEARLY I read too much into things like this, but it bothered me. It wasn’t a MAJOR annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless.

I did like the drama of the story in regards to the terrorist plot and all that. I skimmed most of the sex because the scenes literally went on for PAGES. I read on my iPhone with teeny tiny font. I’ve figured out that one page of a book spans about 2 screens on my phone. I’m not joking when I say that one sex scene was eleven screens long. Roughly five pages. For ONE SEX SCENE. Don’t get me wrong here, I like a good sex scene, but five pages for one scene is more than ‘a bit much’ for me. Then there is the equivalent of about five or six pages of story and then ANOTHER approximately five page sex scene.

I did like the resolution to the story. There was closure on all fronts of the story and each couple in the series. Overall, Rekindled was a good book and I enjoyed this whole series. Decent characters, the couples had plenty of passion, and the drama was intense and never ending. This is a good series to read if you like a romance novel with depth, intrigue, suspense or whatever. I, personally, am a fan of these kinds of romance novels.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Four years ago, Dr. Grace Fallon lost everything that mattered in a terrorist attack she barely survived. Now she’s stronger than ever and in Pakistan with a UN-sanctioned team for the most important assignment of her career. She’s dedicated her life to eradicating the world of chemical weapons, and long ago accepted the inherent risks associated with her job. Until the man whose memory has haunted her for so long suddenly reappears and inadvertently makes her the target of one of the most dangerous terrorists on the planet. Forced to accept Alex’s protection, it’s impossible to deny the white-hot attraction still burning between them. And while she trusts him to guard her from this new threat, Grace must once again decide whether to risk her heart to the man who once shattered her entire world.

Now he’ll risk everything to win her back...

Four years ago, NSA agent Alex Rycroft left Grace because had no choice. But never again. Malik Hassani has escaped custody, he’s on the run, and has locked onto Grace as a means to target Alex. This time Alex will do whatever it takes to protect her—and convince her to give them another chance. Walking away from her nearly destroyed him and now that she’s back in his life, he can’t let her go. When the unthinkable happens and Grace’s life hangs in the balance, he’ll sacrifice everything to save her—including himself.

MY REVIEW:

What a great read! This was full of action and suspense, kept me biting my nails up until the very end (and thank you for that, Ms. Cross, was an excuse to go get a manicure).

I love old friend/lover stories, and this one fell right into that bucket. Grace was shown to be this strong woman who battled with the pain of a broken heart and then thrust back into the life of her former love. She showed bravery in confronting her past and also with dealing with threats tossed her way. She’s a woman many should strive to be like, and she was one hell of a likeable character.

Alex was a surprise. I didn’t realize in previous books, or rather maybe it was because so much time had passed between books, that he was an older character. I liked seeing the way he took charge and worked to save the day.

One thing I have to give Ms. Cross kudos for is the chemical attack here. It was gritty and made this book stand out among others in the genre. Reading it, I found my jaw had hung open at the surprise and details she put into play with it. It was very nice to see it happen, and a very real scene that was gripping.

Rekindled is a book that packs a bunch and knocks the breath out of you—in a good way! I whole heartily recommend this to read now!

SPOILER ALERT. This is an honest and highly subjective review, proceed with caution. You have been warned.

Rekindled
is my top most favourite in Titanium Security‘s series. Below are the reasons why.

Today, we gather around to celebrate that our terrorist leader, Hassani, has finally have a bullet buried between his eyes, forever. Sorry, if I sound like a cold-hearted sadist. He deserved it. The honor of course goes to the Titanium Security‘s boss, Alex Rycroft, who did the deed. Bow down, people. Finally, the team gets their truest happy endings yay!

Although, to be honest, it was a relief Hassani‘s dead but I wasn’t quite happy with the way he died. Such a mercy, very quick at that, too. I was expecting something like an extreme torture, great punishment to befall on him upon his wrong doings, before death sentence. So unfair but oh well, it’s fiction. Also, ditto in real life.

The romance though, I can’t comment much more that that it was the most intense and emotional I’ve ever read in this series. Grace and Alex, they had this strong connection and the chemistry was overwhelming.

The plot was amazing. I was almost going mad because of the Hassani. The action scenes were marvelous! It was crazy and got a few scary scenes I was convinced two or three people in the team wouldn’t make it alive, after all those deaths and I kept thinking “everybody dies”. Particularly on Sean’s unfortunate incident. Followed by Grace’s. I was terrified for them. No worries though, all is well in the end.

That’s the final of it. I’m going to miss these awesome guys, the team. If you haven’t read Titanium Security series, well, you should. It’s amazing, you know. Unless you’re not into action and suspense, it’s too bad then. I, of course, as always, will keep tabs on Kaylea Cross’ books.

Highly recommended.

3.5 Stars for older couple (yay- over 20!), second chance romance, military suspense awesomeness!

Dr. Grace Fallon had her world turned upside down 4 years ago. She was injured in a terrorist attacked that not only got her shot, took away her chance of having kids, but also she found out that her boyfriend Jack was using her as part of an NSA mission and left her alone and recovering in the hospital.

Four years later, Alex is working to take down a huge terrorist when he finds out that Grace is nearby. When he finds her, he knows he can not be without her and will do anything to explained to her what happend 4 years ago when she knew him then as Jack.

The suspense side of this story was intriguing but I really wanted there to be some dirty ties between Grace's ex-husband somehow just to add to the mystery, but sadly that wasn't the case. While Alex and Grace had some steam factor I would have loved alot more but with them starting over there was too much to overcome first. The author states that this is the last in the Titanium series and alot is tied up especially with other people in this book. I read this as a stand alone btut have since picked up other books in the series as some of the team members were very interesting.

While Alex was the team leader, you could tell he was more than just a man who barked orders, he had a heart and cared for his team like members of his family.

A great read and thank you to Kaylea Cross for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my! Go get this book and read it! NOW! Wait, you might want to read the previous books in the series first because a) they're really good and b) this books picks up immediately at the end of the previous book and you might be a little behind if you just read this one. Truly though, you could read just this one and it would be soooo worth it for the minor confusion you would feel cause Kaylea Cross will catch you up...I just think you'd miss out on not being in love with the whole cast of characters. I shed a few happy tears while reading :)

With that being said, yes, I loved all the characters in the series, but Alex Rycroft is amazing. I absolutely LOVE the fact that he's 51 and Grace is 46. It gives me hope ;) Alex is such a hard guy and seeing him with Grace made me melt cause he was so protective and concerned and apologetic (you'll understand why when you read it). And Grace was a great heroine. She was smart and strong and thankfully she had a forgiving heart.

This is one I'll read again.

Alex knows he messed up with Grace when they broke up four years ago after he met her on an op. He knows she doesn't trust him but Grace is the one. Grace is a chemical weapons specialist and is working to eradicate the stockpiles and use of chemical weapons and has landed on Malik Hassani's radar. This is a great story of second chances and redemption and the bad guy gets his just reward. It's really nice to see a mature couple in a story like this. Thoroughlyl enjoyed this series and will be checking out her other series as well.

Received an ARC for review

OH MY!!! A hot mature guy and gal. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Cross, but boy, oh, boy can this girl write.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good epilogue and this one has it in spades. I wasn't lost at all while reading this and getting involved in all their lives. I will definitely be going back to read the other books in this series.

Thanks for the good read Ms. Cross.

I really liked this one. I'm a sucker for second-chance romances and this certainly fits the bill. Plus, it's refreshing to have a 50 year old hero who is hot, alpha and take charge yet very vulnerable when it comes to his woman. There was an interesting terror threat at the forefront of the story and made this a suspenseful read.

It was ok but not great. A few good scenes like Alex chasing after Grace & almost getting her killed in the process. Alex finding out that Syrian are just leaving their hotel even though Grace has informed him that they have just arrived.
Once again Grace is this strong woman, stronger after she betrayed & yet falls to mush when Alex shows up. Disappointment.

Ah, the final Titanium book (aside from the novella I'm about to start) and Alex's story with Grace does not disappoint. I'm a little sad to see this series end...

Grace is a chem weapons analyst whose goal is to rid using chemicals as weapons. Alex met her a few years ago and the chemistry between them was instant and they began falling for each other. One problem with that though - Alex was undercover and Grace knew him as Jack. When Grace was shot during an attack at an event she was at, Alex broke cover to make sure she survived. But doing so meant he had to be flown out of the region before Grace was out of surgery. Graces's ex husband was there to fill her in on Jack/Alex as well as add some sordid details that broke her heart.

Fast forward to the present and Alex is still in Pakistan wrapping things up after Hassani's capture. He spots Grace (because she coincidentally is in Pakistan too for a top secret chem weapons meeting with Syria) and decides to follow her. He never got over her and he will do anything to try to have her in his life again. He knows this will be very difficult with how things were left between them. And he's right. Grace wants nothing to do with Alex at first.

He finally starts getting through to her - because she isn't quite over him either. But then Hassani escapes capture. Alex is Hassani's number one target now but he knows going directly after him would be suicide because of his security detail. He quickly finds out that Grace is important to Alex so he captures her and lures Alex to where he's holding her with the plan being to kill them both. Naturally things don't go as planned. Grace and Alex survive and Hassani is killed during the coup.

I loved Grace and Alex's story. It's about forgiveness, redemption, lost love and how far one will go for the one they love the most. Alex was more than willing to give up his life for Grace. All the Titanium men were willing to sacrifice themselves for the women they love. But it never came down to that because all of the women are badass women that are capable of rescuing themselves when need be. I love this series. Now on to the novella to finish things up...

Oh boy!! WOW!
Where do I start! Ok, I have a guilty secret, I love second chance/redemption stories, and yet I hate them with a passion if they are not done well. I am old enough to know if something didn't work out the first time, there's practically no chance of it working out the second time around unless there are huge changes made. And I'm petty enough to want the reason for the parting to really work at fixing what they messed up... but and I'll be bluntly honest here, it's different between men and women. Why? because it just is, I love seeing the H grovel and hate it when it's the h. I think it's because relationships are still largely driven by the H, he does the chasing, he does the asking, he does the proposing, so any break up in the relationship is generally in some way shape or form his responsibility to fix.
However that is just my opinion, which brings me back to this one.
It worked, this was a story that fed my deep need for redemption, that fed that hunger I have for a good second chance romance and shot this story and these characters to the very top of my list of favorite books and I will be reading it over and over.
Alex suffered for some bad situations that drove him and Grace apart, and while I won't go into big details, Grace did not make it easy for him. She made him work for her trust and boy did she make him work for it, so much so that I was in tears and ready to jump into the book and beg her to just give this wonderful man another chance.
Wonderfully done, I rarely give 5 stars, a story has to touch me on all levels and this one did that and much more.

This is one of the best in the series. Alex and Grace's story was phenomenal, along with the rest of the gang. Of course, Sean and Zahra's story is still ever present in the rest of this series. I was crying for Sean and Zahra, but also for Alex and Grace. This story broke my heart several times.

Here we have the more mature military man and Alex rycroft and then we have the beautiful and intelligent Dr. Grace Fallon, expert and chemical weapons. It has been 4 years sense these two saw each other and they last communicated with each other two years ago. Alex desperately needs to speak with Grace. Grace wants nothing to do with Alex because he's the one who shredded her heart. As usual, danger lurks for this entire team and those around them.

Such a great story.

Alex and Grace have been through a bad marriage and when they met, the chemistry between them was wonderful.

Grace felt Alex was using her to achieve his goal in investigated a group of terrorist, while the truth is Alex was never using her but he hid his true identity. His feelings towards her are genuine.

After 4 years, they meet again and this time Alex would do anything to win her heart again.

I'm glad that Sean slowly gain his strength again and he could walk 😊😊

In general, the first book is still my favourite in this series.

So I loved Alex, which is unsurprising because I’ve liked him for most of this series, but I was pretty blasé about Grace. She was fine, but nothing about her really made me love her.

Whereas Alex is just so lovable and protective and loyal and was basically running himself into the ground to protect his team and Grace.

The action was good in this book, but it has been for a few books now so it was unsurprising. And I was happy to see the storyline come to a resolution.

The romance was fine but took too long for such a short book. The book was only about 250 pages long and the main characters didn’t get together until almost 2/3 of the way through. I feel like you just can’t slow burn it that much if the book is short.

But the book was enjoyable and the series good. I’m glad I didn’t let the first book deter me from finishing it.
