Kane and Phoebe have an interesting history and one of the best first meetings ever! It sucked that they screwed it up in the past, but how great is their second chance. I liked that this time around they took the time to talk about what went wrong and then took steps not to make the same mistakes.
The drama in Phoebe's life was crazy! More so when you find out why she had a stalker. I'm glad that was taken care of and everyone is ok as they can be for surviving something like that. But I was more interested in Phoebe learning more about her dad and the new connection she had to Ford. I want to know about the funeral, the will, how the families will integrate. So many unanswered questions, hopefully we get answers on future books.

As a huge fan of Carrie Ann Ryan' I was very excited to read "His Second Chance" which is an emotional rollercoaster that masterfully blends romance, suspense, and a second-chance love story. The plot revolves around Kane Montgomery Carr and Phoebe Dixon, whose once-passionate romance ended in heartbreak for reasons Kane never understood. Now, with Phoebe's life in danger, Kane is thrust back into her life, reigniting old feelings and uncovering hidden truths.
The mystery of issues between Kane and Phoebe. As they navigate the dangers posed by the stalker, they are also forced to confront the reasons behind their breakup. The revelation of a startling secret adds depth to their relationship and the story as a whole.
The chemistry between Kane and Phoebe is palpable. Their journey from heartbreak to rekindling their romance is filled with tension, passion, and heartfelt moments. The emotional depth and raw intensity of their relationship are beautifully portrayed.

This book was hard to put down! In one of the better books by this author, there are moments I never expected. It is an emotional rollercoaster filled with angst, romance, suspense, and a second chance at love.
Kane and Phoebe, had what he thought was a great romance, only to have her leave for reasons, he did not understand. Phoebe is back, front and center, and her life is in danger. Kane will be the one protecting her. Old feelings, solving the danger, and the admission of secrets make for this unputdownable journey for these two.

An amazing suspenseful second chance romance. It will completely captivate you from the beginning as it takes you through an emotional ride. I loved reading Kane and Phoebe’s journey as things start to unravel. I loved their chemistry. It’s an entertaining and a must read. A great addition to this wonderful series.

So good that I didn't want to put it down, but sadly had to. This is the 6th book in The Montgomery Ink Legacy. I hadn't read any of Carrie's books before and this one just intrigued me!! I was hooked from the start!! I just love Kane and Phoebe.. This book has it all from heat to angst and everything in between! Carrie know how to draw the read in.. I can't wait to read more!!

I’m a huge fan of second chances and Isabelle Ruther and Aiden Snow did an extraordinary job of bringing Kane and Phoebe’s emotionally charged journey to life. Kane gave me some serious cinnamon roll vibes. I think I fell head over heels for the guy. This was another enjoyable story in the Montgomery Ink Legacy series. Anyone else want to be adopted into cheese obsessed family?

“His Second Chance” is an emotional rollercoaster ride from start to finish, it's a second-chance romance that is both suspenseful and thrilling. It's Kane Montgomery-Carr and Phoebe Carr Dixon's story in which Carrie Ann Ryan added even more branches to the Montgomery family tree!
Kane and Phoebe met when she jumped into an unlocked car when she saw a bear while on a hike with Claire, her housemate and best friend. The car was occupied by Kane who was waiting for his cousin Kingston. Kane was stunned when this intriguing stranger jumped into his car but was far from unhappy about it. As they waited for the coast to clear so they could rejoin their companions they chatted and he became intrigued. Later when all four meet up Claire persuades Phoebe to take Kane to dinner to thank him.
Dinner led to a steamy relationship which Kane thought was progressing perfectly but then Phoebe ended it, she felt she needed to break things off but she never gave Kane any explanation and he was left heartbroken.
But when Phoebe is frightened by a stalker it's Kane she turns to, he does own part of a security company after all, but the timing is off and she is there when Kane is shot fortunately it was only a flesh wound! Despite his broken heart and still not knowing why she broke up with him, Kane is determined to protect Phoebe at all costs.
The more time they spend together the more old feelings resurface and Pheobe realises and finally admits that she made a mistake ending their relationship instead of talking to Kane about her worries. But that doesn't mean everything will be easy from now on she has to explain her actions to Kane and there's still a stalker to catch and an old adversary of Kane's to bring to justice.
Phoebe's family is complex and even more complicated than the Carr family and brings a lot of new and interesting characters into the frame.
I don't want to spoil this wonderful story by giving too many spoilers so I'll just say this is one you won't want to miss. The characters are brought to life wonderfully by the excellent narration of Aiden Snow and Isabelle Ruther who were able to make the listener aware of every emotion beautifully.
The story is well-written, fast-paced, intriguing and hot don't miss it!

His Second Chance is Kane & Phoebe’s story, and with a ‘brief’ flashback, starts roughly where Last First Kiss ends.
Kane Montgomery Carr is one of the numerous Montgomery owners of Montgomery Security with his cousins (and their significant others). Phoebe Dixon is his ex-girlfriend…though he isn’t sure exactly how/why their relationship fizzled out.
How did they meet? Well…that first meeting involved a hike, a public restroom, a bear, and an unlocked car…I won’t say who was in the car & who ‘jumped’ in to escape the bear.
Phoebe comes back into Kane’s life…when she needs a body guard & help trying to figure out who is sending her weird messages and such…and Kane won’t let anyone else take the job. He may be trying to also rekindle their romance. Plus…there is still the little problem Montgomery Security is dealing with—their former competitor who seems to still have it out for them.
Can Kane & the rest of the Montgomery Security figure out who is stalking Phoebe? Can they also track down their own ‘stalker’…plus there is a few other ‘surprises’ that will shock everyone within the pages of His Second Chance.
I loved this book…I always enjoy the second-chance romances…where a couple can work through their problems and find their way back to each other. I also LOVED the the little extra shock that sits within the pages…sorry—can’t say more until the book hits ‘electronic’ shelves on the 15th…but it’s a surprise everyone will love.

I’ll be curling up later with both the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Spring series (where Kane’s parents are introduced), plus the Less Than series (which is the spin-off series for Kane’s aunts/uncles on his father side). Since we’re in the heat of summer—on July 15, grab a cold iced coffee (or ice tea), a comfy chair, and turn the fans up high, as you immerse yourself into the Montgomery Ink Legacy world with Kane & Phoebe’s story.

Kane and Phoebe’s story is filled with angst as he gets His Second Chance to prove to her that he can be everything she needs in her lover, but also with enemies after them the highest sense of danger increases the fear and drama. I loved every movement of their story, whether they were fighting, crying or loving one another, Phoebe and Kane we so obviously made for one another, and fate would have put them together one way or another (and you’ll understand that better once you know the BIG SECRET). Kane is a big protective gorilla, one that doesn’t understand when he is being overbearing sometimes, but he is determined to always stand between danger and those he loves. Phoebe is determined to stand on her own two feet, however sometimes she needs to allow others to be there for her to lean on and Kane is just the shoulder she wants and needs. Together they are a perfect match and I loved watching them change and grow together, seeing the way they gave and took in order to be just what the other needed in any given situation. The passion was there for them even when they weren’t together so honestly, I have no clue how they resisted one another as long as they did, but when they gave into it, that heat was palpable for sure. The drama of not only the secrets revealed in this one, but also the dangerous villains was beautifully written, and I have to say this is the first time I didn’t fully see it coming (might have had an inkling, but I was still surprised). The next story promises to be just as interesting as Claire and Kingston have to overcome their issues and deal with one another in order to find their HEA together in One Night With You (coming in Nov-ish). I read a lot of romances, including everything Carrie Ann has ever written, but I can say with all authority that this is a read I will not be forgetting any time soon and one I will be recommending to readers far and wide.

As an avid hiker, Carrie Ann Ryan has put my ultimate fear down on paper, meeting a bear on trail. At the same time, she has given me one of my favorite book themes, a second chance romance.
When Phoebe Dixon and her friend Claire decided to go for a hike they never imagined they would come across a bear. Claire had the good fortune to be using the bathroom at the trailhead when the bear made his appearance, Phoebe was left making a mad dash for safety. When she found herself lucky enough to find an unlocked car door she never imagined she would also find an incredibly sexy man in the back seat. Hopefully, she didn't just get in to a car with a serial killer.
Kane Montgomery Carr is one of the multiple co-owners of a very successful security agency. His family and friends have had their share of ups and downs. Recently, one of their biggest competitors tried to take them down in dramatic fashion to eliminate the competition. When Kane met Phoebe everything happened so quickly. Their romance built up to a quick burn but came to an end just as quickly with no logical reason that Kane could define. Ultimately, he would respect Phoebe's decision and give her the space she needed. When she literally showed up on his back door step looking for help with a suspected stalker, Kane jumped at the opportunity to have her back in his life even if it was just a job.
Kane and Phoebe started their love affair with an interesting, unique, and heart pounding meet cute. Their romance was like a fire, burning quick and with little to no control. The chemistry between Phoebe and Kane was seriously intense and off the charts. The beginning of their story had my heart pounding just as much as their ending. 'His Second Chance' was a fast paced story that had me reading late in to the night just to find out what would happen next. I absolutely loved it, so much so I read it twice!

What a rollercoaster of romance, suspense and second chances this book is.
Kane Montgomery Carr and Phoebe Dixon once had a passionate romance but it ended in heart brake. Kane never really understood the reason they broke up. Kane is co-owner of the Montgomery Security Company. It seems that Phoebe’s life is put in danger and it now up to Cane and Company to protect her. All is going nicely between Kane and Phoebe until Kane is shot. Even though it was only a flesh wound, Kane becomes even more protective of Phoebe. As Kane and Phoebe spend more time together the old feelings they had for each other are starting to come back. Phoebe eventually comes to the realization that the feelings she is experiencing are real and she made a mistake when she ended the relationship years ago. Like most people who have been hurt, the two of them will need to learn to trust again. This is not going to be as easy as they think because that stalker that is trying to hurt Phoebe is still out there. Phoebe and Kane will not be able to act upon there feeling until the stalker is caught. The Carr family can be a bit complex and Phoebe‘s family probably has more issues then the Carrs do. But they all work together for Phoebe and Kane. Phoebe and Kane have fabulous chemistry and hopefully it will never cease to exist.
The ending of this book is AMAZING. There are fireworks, suspene, danger and love. I do have to admit that I yelled out loud many times reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

**Audiobook Review**
Oh the web Carrie Ann Ryan weaves with her stories! “His Second Chance” is an emotional, steamy and thrilling second chance romance that added some amazing branches to the Montgomery family tree.
Kane Montgomery Carr has always had a protective side so owning a security firm has made sense. The protectiveness he has crossed over into his personal life and to Phoebe Dixon, the woman he fell for hard and fast. But after their relationship ended, Kane still had feelings for her. Phoebe feels the same but Kane’s lack of opening up ultimately was too much for her. But now with someone or something stalking Phoebe, they are back in each other’s lives. And the feelings they had for each other are still very much there.
I loved how Phoebe and Kane first met. It made me laugh and I thought it was such a good meet-cute.You could tell from the beginning that there was a connection that they had from the beginning and grew stronger as the book went on. I loved Phoebe from the beginning and despite how much she cared for Kane, she cared for herself and wanted to be happy. Holy Freaking Smokes. His Second Chance is going to rock your world as you know it and leave you staggering.
His Second Chance opens with a funny meet cute involving a bear. So yes, this book starts with a giggle. The meet cute progresses to a short-lived relationship. However, the relationship is not working for Phoebe, so she breaks up with Kane. But she does not explain why.
However, when Phoebe finds herself with a stalker, the first person she turns to is Kane. She finds him locking up Montgomery Security and dealing with a threat to him. With her appearance, he now has to focus on keeping her safe. When someone gets injured, and requires a hospital visit, Phoebe finally tells him why she came to visit him. Obviously, he decides to become her personal bodyguard. But he has ulterior motives, as well. This is his chance to find out why she broke up with him. But does he really want to know? And, is he willing to work on the problem?
When the stalker gains entry to Phoebe and Claire's apartment while both are home making dinner, due to a spectacular diversion, will she be able to let Kane know? When one of the girls is critically injured, will the other be able to save her? Will Montgomery Security be able to save the girls and neutralize the threat?
I will admit I am glossing over some details in His Second Chance. There are some spectacular fireworks in store for you that will outshine what you saw on the Fourth of July. My neighbors are still wondering if I am okay after my reaction to the scene.
Aiden Snow is my absolute favorite male narrator and he does not disappoint in his portrayal of Kane, and the other characters. He actually has a very good female voice to go with his alpha male, growly male voice.

When she starts receiving messages, Claire fears she may have a stalker and turns to Kane for help. Claire shows up when Kane is being held at gunpoint, and Kane is shot protecting Claire. Kane knows he will do anything to protect Claire from her stalker. As Kane and Claire spend time together, both realize their feelings for each other are stronger than ever. Will Claire realize she made a mistake in breaking up with Kane? Will Claire tell Kane why she broke up with him? Is Claire's stalker and the man who shot Kane the same person? Can Kane dial back his protective instincts and be more open with Claire? Can Kane save Phoebe from her stalker when she hits her panic button? How will Claire and her siblings react when they learn a huge secret after their father dies? I absolutely loved His Second Chance by Carrie Anne Ryan! His Second Chance is a roller coaster ride of emotions from beginning to end. Kane and Phoebe are a great couple with amazing chemistry who truly love each other but sometimes have difficulty communicating with each other. His Second Chance has a stalker, danger, secrets, family, hot chemisty, and a fantastic meet cute. I would highly recommend getting His Second Chance and the other books in the Montgomery Ink Legacy Series by Carrie Ann Ryan. This is a great book. I really liked the then and now chapters and how Phoebe and Kane originally met and started their relationship, definitely a crazy story. When the story itself starts, Phoebe has gone to talk with Kane about possibly needing some security help, but someone is there and she and Kane both end up hurt. This starts him and Kingston staying with her to help her figure out who might be stalking her, but they are also trying to solve a case of their own when someone got away that shouldn’t have so that’s two cases they’re trying to solve. I did like it when Phoebe and Kane spent time together and ended up having the awkward conversation about what happened between them. They are somewhat back together when Phoebe gets tragic news in her personal/family life. All I can say next is that chapter 12 was an OMG moment for me and never in a million years would I have seen that jaw dropping plot twist. Which changes everything. Unfortunately, while she’s dealing with that her stalker shows up and the situation isn’t good for her or Claire. I have to give these two ladies credit for keeping their wits about them and trying to do the best they could in a lose-lose situation. Thank goodness that Kane and Kingston showed up to help diffuse the situation against someone who was out for whatever he could take. I’m excited for whatever happens next with Phoebe and Kane, and it looks like there might be something brewing between Claire and Kingston. I’m also looking forward to possible stories for Phoebe’s siblings. This author is great with her surprises in her books and this surprise was a big one. Wonderful book. Excited for the next book!

Montgomery Ink Legacy book six has arrived, and Ms. Author has knocked another one out of the park! As always, I recommend reading the series in order, but the books can be read as standalone individual books. HLC is a romantic suspense, second chance romance filled with drama, family and steamy moments to light up the pages.

Talk about a relationship that started at hello! I enjoyed Kane and Phoebe's story from the first chapter - heck the first page.
Kane reeling from the recent events that have been occurring to the important people in his life is feeling guilty about such events and his inability to prevent them from happening. He meets Phoebe after she goes running from a bear while hiking with a friend. The pair have an instant relationship that ends shortly after it started. They restarted their relationship after they were attacked and it was unclear who the attack was aimed at.
Phoebe enters her relationship with Kane quickly but struggles with her place in life in regards to her family. She has an over protective group of siblings that treat her like a child while her mother is absentee and her father is too busy working only to find out later that she and her siblings were his secret family. She struggles with drawing the boundaries with her family while having her relationship with Kane.
The pair had chemistry that was off the charts and their story moved along well. I enjoyed the return of characters from the previous books in the series. I enjoyed this book and thought that it was a great addition to the series. I also look forward to what is to come with this series.

End freaking game. That's Kane and Phoebe. I had all of the feels for these two. Carrie is so talented. She can make you want to cry one minute and laugh right after. Kane was my favorite type of MMC. He was growly, possessive, protective. Just simply swoon worthy. He also had a filthy mouth. I absolutely loved how he was with Phoebe. When she mentioned his protectiveness being too much I just thought, "girl, I will take him off your hands." 🤣🤣🤣 Don't get me wrong, I did love Phoebe too. She grew a lot in this and ended up being totally kickass. These two together were electric. Five alarm fire. So many ways to say that their chemistry was explosive. I was so glad that both of them took their second chance seriously. Both wanted to make it work and last. One wasn't putting forth more effort than the other. I really appreciated that. The whole stalker thing and the competitor thing were both so well written. I absolutely loved how Carrie handled both. The family drama was quite shocking but it made so much sense too. Secondary characters galore in this and each one was flipping awesome. I am so excited to read Kingston and Claire's book. Bravo, Carrie! 👏👏👏

Ms. Ryan has done it again with this love story that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride of your life. The way she pulls you in right from the start with a chance meeting to the celebration of love at the end, has you feeling all the feels. Second chances are my favourite tropes to read as they give me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside and this book had me smiling as well as holding my breath a couple of times.

What a wonderful story. Kane and Phoebe met under very unusual circumstances and I loved how she rambled because she was nervous. That did start their romance and then she ended it. He really didn't know why but honored her request to break up. Then when she is afraid when she has a stalker, she comes to him just as the man that has caused his family and friends hurt and problems, and he gets shot but protects her. He decides to be with her most of the time to find out who is bothering her. As this happens, she tells him why she broke up with him. They still loved each other, they just had to communicate more. The story gets way more complicated when her father died and that opened a whole nother can of worms. That still isn't resolved in this story. It was a shock to everyone involved. Things started to settle down when the person what Kane has been searching for shows up again and causes shock to Phoebe, her roommate Claire and Kane.
This story had great romance suspense, surprises and lots of Montgomeries. They keep growing!

WOW!! There are so many things to say about this book! First Kane is most definitely a Montgomery and a Carr which makes him awesome to begin with. Phoebe is just as amazing and bears are not feared enough when in a national park...just saying. Their meeting was great and then life hit and I felt this one on a personal level. I really wish my life was like one of her books. Carrie Ann Ryan is amazing. The chemistry they have, and the drama that is the Montgomery family is as expected. It was great to see some of the others again. But the steam and drama of this book!!! And the secret that Carrie Ann Ryan has been keeping?!!! How did I not see it coming? I screamed when I found out. This book made me laugh, cry, scream and feel so happy. That ending was the perfect conclusion for Kane and Phoebe. I need more of Kingston and Ford and Crew. The whole Montgomery crew is great. Phoebe's family is great. Isabella is the classic eldest sibling and sister. Kyler is a mystery and great, I need more of him. Sophia and Emily are also great and I needed more of them as well. This secret is going to rock the world and I am all for it.

Kane is the son of Thea Montgomery and Dimitri Carr (Restless Ink, the second book in the Montgomery Ink: Colorado Springs series) and was a bodyguard and co-owned Montgomery Security. When he first meets Phoebe, he knows this is a woman he wants in his life. But just when he thinks their relationship is going smoothly between the two of them, the woman he loved abruptly ends things. Then months later, Phoebe informs Kane that she suspects she has a stalker, which leads to Kane insisting that he be the one to keep an eye on her while the rest of the team tries to figure out who the stalker may be. He can protect the woman he has never stopped loving, but Phoebe can never be his again. Especially not if the person who's been watching her has anything to say about it.
I love a protective male main character, and I would prefer someone who was overprotective than someone who couldn't care any less as to what happens to their significant other. There was no questioning that Kane would go above and beyond in order to ensure that Phoebe was safe, something that he did during their original run as a couple; so imagine that protective nature of his go into overdrive when he found out that there was a very potential threat to the one and only woman who owns his heart. I understood why Phoebe felt it necessary to break up with Kane, although I confess that I wished she had communicated her concerns with him. Same goes with her feelings regarding her siblings. But I did love seeing her growth, and ditto with Kane's growth. The love was always there, but these two also learned to communicate better. There was also a MAJOR twist in the story, and I can't wait to see where the author takes readers going forward. These Montgomerys never disappoint! 4.5 stars go to His Second Chance.

Wow Phoebe and Kane, this one is a doozy! They have you rooting for them from the start. They have really work to get there happily ever after, but they have the best meet cute ever it’s so great! You think Montgomery Carr family is wild. Just wait till you meet Phoebe’s family. They are just a little kooky, but in the best way. It’s just a family dynamics just add hilarity to this book. Now with a stalker on the loose Kane stop at nothing to protect Phoebe. I love watching Kane and Phoebe’s relationship being rekindled after their time apart. This is a good thing. I love that we get to watch them rediscover each other and fix things that they broke and make their relationship stronger the second time around. But nothing is going to go smoothly. That would make life too simple. With a curveball that no one saw coming, that literally turns Phoebe‘s life upside down. Kane will be there to support her every step of the way. I love the banter when they’re together, it’s so fantastic. But in the end they get there happily ever after and it’s beautiful.
