The attack on Eternal Feather is a cruel reminder that there is very real danger out there for the weapons and meisters of DWMA. Tsugumi is more determined than ever to develop her skills so that she can defend her friends in the future. But the road ahead is filled with challenges...and silliness!
Atsushi Ōkubo ( 大久保篤), also romanized as Atsushi Ohkubo, is a Japanese manga author and fantasy artist known for his work on the manga series Soul Eater, which has been adapted into an anime. Okubo worked as an assistant under Rando Ayamine, on the manga series Get Backers. He also created artwork for various cards for the Lord of Vermillion game.
Atsushi Ōkubo was not a model student and was more attracted to drawing than to learning. At the age of 20, after finishing studies at a manga school where he met Rando Ayamine, the author of Get Backers, he became Rando Ayamine's assistant for two years. Finally, he won a competition at Square Enix's Gangan magazine with his first manga series B.Ichi and it was published for four volumes. After the end of his last manga, he created Soul Eater, still for Square Enix's Gangan magazine, which brought him worldwide success.
I loved the first volume, the second one wasn't as great, but this one was complete crap. Nothing happened! No one even turned into a weapon! It was a story about nothing, followed by another little manga that was all about the author complaining. WASTE OF TIME.
I like it. There are a bunch of cute, little side stories and some with the original characters of Soul Eater. I think it's a good addition and is a prequel to Soul Eater. I love the scene with Stein and the girls it's very funny! Another plus to reading the Soul Eater Not series is you get to learn more about Liz and Patty. In all it's a good book to sit and relax to and just have a little laugh.
I haven’t read the main serie, Soul Eater, so I guess I just did not understand this volume. I really enjoyed the first two mangas, they were fun and quick to read. But this?? Where was the main plot? Maybe it is just a “special content” volume? 🧐🧐🧐 Is it worth to continue reading this mini serie? Or are the other mangas all going to be like this one?
I definitely eat up any moments with Akane and Tsugumi. I was left severely desperate for more moments after reading this.
A note: This volume made a weird switch from continuous narrative storytelling to a compilation of episodic mini stories. Wasn't too fond of this and preferred the way the story was being told from the previous two volumes.
Totally didn't follow the previous story line, so there was no progression. However, I still loved this volume the most! Just some fun little moments in the characters' lives that made me smile and laugh.
JOT THIS JOT THAT. The filler really started to get a little redundant here, but it could have been worse. I'm an absolute cocksucker for fanservice. Especially when it revolves around characters I really enjoy. However, I never would have guessed that the entire plot would have taken a halt in this volume. The author, Ohkubo even mentions at the end that he was busy finishing up the climax to Soul Eater and wanted to keep NOT going to coincide with the anime as it aired on TV, so he prolonged this volumes release. Sure, but damn man, did you have to make it all feel as flat as Tsugumi? I'd like to think that by the next volume we'll get things going again, but I checked reviews; WE AIN'T.

This is the first of the Soul Eater Not series that I really enjoyed. I am not saying it is bad. I just like the original Soul Eater better. The "not" characters are not as funny in my opinion... though I do like where the witch in this one is going. I LOVE that first scene is Stein's hospital, that was really funny and totally Stein. The girls playing baseball was super cute and funny. So overall this one shows promise for the series
Wow, I never realized how little could happen in a full volume. At least half of this is one-off comics, and nothing substantial happens in the actual chapters. Both the short comics and the chapters are kinda cute and made me chuckle a few times, but not much. Hopefully the last two volumes remember what little has been set up for the plot and are able to fully resolve it, because if they continue like this, the series won't be able to end well.
This one is kind of a hodge podge of stuff. This book only contains 5 chapters of the Soul Eater Not story and only 2 of them seem to be about the actual story. The baseball and amnesia chapters don't move the story along.
This one also contained Soul Eater Jot.... This seems to be a mixture of random stuff like scenes missed in earlier books.
I do like Clay and Akane though. These boys are awesome!
Ehhhhhh, what happened here? This volume feels like it's about 90% filler. It's mostly a bunch of page-long jokes, and though some of them are kind of amusing, I really just want to get back to the actual story, you know? This was a definite disappointment after waiting almost two years for this volume to finally come out. Sigh!
I have to say in this point of the series, everything is generally going in the direction I predicted it would. So yeah you can kind of call it predictable. It's still an amazing comic book, with wonderful art. Things just brush by darker subjects a keen to it's parent series "Soul eater".
A very funny book, but sadly, it's missing a true intrigue... The characters are funny and loveable. And for those who had love Soul Eater, the characters of the manga are also in the book.
Still good but I was hoping for plot in this volume. It was also weird that the fillers were in the middle of the series, so it did make me a little mad.
