Private Investigator Mackenzie Love manages to get into trouble on a simple shopping trip where she finds herself at the business end of a gun. It’s clear her attacker mistakes her for someone else, but who? And why is her look-alike in so much trouble? Mac enlists the help of her partners, Samantha Majors and Miss P, and Detective Jake Sanders to find her doppelgänger and solve the case of mistaken identity. In the meantime, Mr. Fischer of Fischer Industries comes to the private detectives for help with a problem of his own. As Mac and Sam work on his case, they begin to wonder if the two cases are related. Can Mac and Sam unravel the clues and get justice for both Mac’s look-alike and Mr. Fischer?
Wrestling balloons into her car, Private Investigator Mackenzie Love did not expect someone to try to abduct her. She was able to fight him off until help arrived, but he clearly mistook her for someone else. And that someone was in serious danger. Then a former client, Mr. Fischer, fell downstairs at work. Or was he pushed? He has placed a bid on a component for Boeing, but mysterious things have started happening, and he wants Mac and her partner Sam to investigate. To make matters worse, Mac's former boyfriend Nate is in town, and Sam's brother Jake is acting weird, sometimes interested, sometimes not. Mac has her hands full. The book was a lighthearted, fun read with a little more romantic angst than I enjoy. The characters are distinctive, and Sprinkle has set up the ending for another book in the series which I look forward to reading.
The Case of Mistaken Identity, Book 2 in Debbie Sprinkle’s Mac & Sam Mystery series takes you on another wild ride with Washington, Missouri, Private Investigators, Mackenzie Love and Samantha Majors.
Brace yourself for a Mac attack in the opening act when Mac is mistaken for someone else and she sets out with her partners to find out who her doppelgänger is and why she’s in trouble.
Sprinkle’s down-to-earth writing style, intriguing plot twists, relatable and sometimes sassy characters, mixed with sweet romance make reading her books a pleasure.
Like an out of control amusement park coaster, this story’s twists and turns kept me hanging on from start to finish—a finish I didn’t see coming, and one that has me circling back for another 5-star ride.
This is a fantastic book filled with suspense, intrigue, and a mystery! It's almost non-stop action that kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought that I knew the perpetrators, but it was a complete surprise.
The characters are wonderful! Mac is a crime solving, butt kicking woman! Sam is super smart and usually one step ahead of everyone else. Jake, as a detective, is always ready to go at a second notice.
There's a bit of a romance in the book. It was a little frustrating that more didn't happen, but the book was mostly about the mystery.
Surprise! The end is a cliffhanger!!!! Now I'm excited to read the next book!
This book was okay but I didn't love it. I found some of the decisions by the characters to be incomprehensible. But others might like it, especially if you have to read every mystery that comes across your desk...
Okay mystery and characters, but one thing I dislike in books is when a character's name suddenly changes to something else within a couple of pages or even paragraphs. The author and the editor should definitely catch something like that before publication.
Just when you think you know what is going to happen next, a twist happens and drags you deeper into the book to find out what happens next. Great page-turner.
This second book in the Mac and Sam mystery series is had me hooked from page one. So many twists especially the ending! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Deborah Sprinkle doesn’t disappoint in her second book in A Mac and Sam Mystery series, The Case of Mistaken Identity! Mac’s love life takes a back seat to the threats to her life and those of her friends, but in the end, love wins! Except, there’s still a mystery to be solved! Can’t wait for book 3!
