USA Today Bestselling author Tessa Radley considers herself a reader at heart and discovered books at an early age. Growing up in a world surrounded by Nancy Drew, Ken and Flicka, Cherry Ames, Anne of Green Gables, Bilbo Baggins and the ponies of the Pullein-Thompson sisters, she eventually moved on to reading everything she could lay her hands on.

Tessa loves writing books with a little edge and a lot of emotion—the kind she loves to read. Her favourite kind of characters are those caught in seemingly insurmountable circumstances and Tessa wrestles all day long with how to get them in and out of those impossible situations.

Nicholas Valentine returns home from overseas to learn that his six-month -old daughter, Jennie, has a new nanny. His beautiful baby girl scares him. His wife died, leaving him the sole guardian of Jennie. His whole life has shifted, and Nick needs some help. After their permanent nanny bails on them, Nick’s sister hires Candace.

Candace Morrison is a registered nurse, and when she learns that Nick needs a nanny, she jumps in on the opportunity. Instantly she and baby Jennie forge a bond, and Candace struggles with her place in the Valentine home. Candace harbors secrets that can bring her stay with Nick and Jennie to a halt. Will she take a gamble and reveal all?

Nick is a distant and remote, but he has his reasons. His wife had problems conceiving, and Nick believes she was having an affair that resulted in Jennie’s birth. Being the guardian of a baby he doesn’t feel is his own weighs Nick down. My heart went out to Nick as his story was revealed.

Eventually, he strips off his hard mask and reveals a softer and more sensual side to everyone. The best part of the story is how Jennie brings Nick to his knees. It is so heart-warming to see Nick interact with Jennie:

There was a moment of stillness when neither of them moved as they examined each other. Then Jennie gave a coo and stretched out a hand. Nick stilled. What did the past matter? This was a baby…innocent of it all.

He touched her hand with one finger.

Jennie’s hand clutched his forefinger. They gazed at each other. Nick held his breath. The silence in the nursery was absolute, the moment powerful and intense.

The story has a lot of secrets, and once they are revealed and the characters are connected, readers will be surprised. Jennie, Nick, and Candace’s story will warm hearts and readers will cheer them on. The sexual build-up between Nick and Candace is intense. They don’t rush into their affair, but take time to get to know each other and get past one another’s defenses, making their HEA realistic.

I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series of Billionaires and Baby books from Silhouette Desire.

I'm prejudiced against Australian settings and this one had nothing to keep me happy.

Synopsis:
Nicholas (Nick) Valentine, an Australian billionaire, is scared of his (or for his?) five-month-old daughter Jennie (what with Jilly, his wife, who is no more). And also because he is suspicious (eye colour?) that she is not his daughter. He is afraid of loving her, though he wants to very much.

Mrs. Alison Richard Timmings, his sister, hires a new nanny Candace Morrison (who is a paediatric surgery nurse by profession); when the previous one resigns on not being able to cope with a sick baby. This happened during Nick's one month absence due to business reasons, and without his say so. How does Nick react when he finds out about the new nanny? And what is it that Candace is hiding?

Review:
First book I read, and that too a part of the Billionaires and Babies Series where the so-called billionaire runs short of cash, to pay back the final instalment of the multimillion dollar loan granted by his father-in-law Desmond Perry. Into the first few pages, the eye colour descriptions pretty much reveal of what is to come later on in the story. Candace has conflicting emotions concerning Nick. While sometimes she views him as nothing less than a ruthless businessman, at other times he appears so vulnerable (because of the recent loss of his wife?). On the other hand, Nick has only feelings of desire if he so much as looks at Candace, which is obvious to the reader, since there was no love lost between him, and his late wife. Theirs was a marriage entered into under coercion on the behest of the calculative Desmond Perry.

Nick's interactions with Jennie are adorable; after he finally opens up to her. And Jennie, she couldn't have got a more loving mother-like figure (or mother?) than Candace.

But what I really want to know is who finally had to kiss Princess Piggy at the fest?

Oh, I love it when heroes finally realise things!
Nick faced the truth of them. Jennie needed Candace. So did Catherine. And so did he. Candace brought light and sunshine into all their lives.
He loved her.

But I sure would have loved an epilogue, with a glimpse of their future.

Unfortunately, this one didn't work for me. You didn't really see the relationship evolving. One minute, he's insulting her and calling her a liar, the next minute, he's kissing her. He didn't believe anything anyone said, yet he was not around to be able to refute anything that happened. I know it's incredibly vague, but I don't want to give anything away, in case someone else might want to read this book. I personally didn't really like how things evolved, but someone else might not be bothered by it.

Such a great title. Ridiculous plot, bizarre character development, boring sex. Nice distracting airplane read.

I don't consider Jilly to be Jennie's mother because she knew her all of a couple months and even then she had nannies to care for her.

I started this book twice, and really I couldn't develop any kinda of character sympathy, empathy, or even like. I have read books by this author before but I have to say this one just did not in any way appeal to me.

The ending was so abrupt I had to double-check my kindle to make sure I didn't skip ahead. It could have done with an epilogue.

I really liked this. There was a pretty big plot twist which added a little excitement and intrigue to the usually progression of a romance novel. It was really good. Definitely recommend it

Everything is off in this book.
The insta-lust is off, the so called attraction between them is kinda weird.
