My red-hot vacation fling turns out to be my cold-blooded billionaire enemy.
The sizzling surfer charmed me out of my bikini for one unforgettable night but that was before I truly knew who he was. Dean Culver is a calculating shark in a thousand-dollar suit. Growing up, his family name was a curse word in my house and now his company’s snapped up my little tech firm, planning to downsize and devour.
But, I’ve already lost enough this year. I’m not going down without a fight. After convincing him to give all of us a chance to keep our jobs, he demands we have regular meetings to discuss it. Over dinner.
He still wants me and, no matter how much I hate him, maybe we need to get each other out of our systems… again, and again, and again. It means nothing. Men don’t stick around anyway so what’s the harm?
Except, we both have scars in need of healing and he’s not as cold-blooded as I believed while every kiss brings me closer to surrender.
Risking my heart was never part of the plan. Will I win this fight or wind up losing it all?
(This is a steamy, enemies-to-lovers office romance between a charming executive and his once-bitten/twice-shy adversary. It is a stand-alone romance though it’s part of a series. No cheating, no cliffhangers and a happily-ever-after.)
Hi, I'm Cora! Currently, I write billionaire romance as a hobby but I would love to write full time someday. I'm having a great time writing and learning all the ins and outs of self-publishing. Always love to hear from readers and I'm open to questions here.
MMMMM Muffins❤️ My problem with reading Ms North’s books is that once I begin I CAN NOT put them down! Housework is ignored, meals are forgotten, appointments are missed. And Fighting the Boss has confirmed this well-established truth. I was all in with this story from the first page. Tabitha and Dean’s meet cute is funny, flirty and playful. I couldn’t help loving them both after their banter in the waves and dealing with Tabitha’s wardrobe malfunction.
Once they are back in the real world things go a little differently. Both have different personas that they present when they are in the business arena. Dean is not the laid back surf god and Tabitha is not the sensual beach siren. At least not at work. But at no point is the reader ever in doubt of the smoking hot chemistry this couple has both at and away from work.
This is a story of preconceived prejudices and misconceptions, past and recent hurts and the power of love to forge forgiveness and healing. The relationships Dean and Tabitha have with their respective family members are both heart-warming and gut-wrenchingly horrible and give the reader an insight into the makings of these two complex characters. Ultimately, it is the love of supportive family members who help Dean and Tabitha realise their true feelings and find their way back to each other. There might also be a little bit of magic and fate at play too, be it seaside talismans or the sharing of delicious muffins.
If you are looking for a great summer read (or a great anytime read) you should definitely give this one a try. I received an free advance review copy from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Fighting the Boss is book two in the Golden Gate Billionaires series, but can be read as a standalone.
Tabitha and Dean meet in Maui when Tabitha is on her un-honeymoon. Their first meeting is fun and flirty and leads to them spending one unforgettable night together before they go their separate ways.
Four weeks later Dean appears in Tabitha’s life again - as the man responsible for her firms takeover and deciding which staff will be laid off.
Sparks fly between the former lovers, now adversaries, and there’s a lot of family issues and past hurt that they need to overcome before they can find their way back to each other.

Really great read. Crazy past secrets, haunting feelings, childhood trauma, believer of no one will stick around. Mister my family owns everything and miss I hate the family that owns everything. Their story was a joy to read and if you are ready to laugh and cry then dive into this book. More Easter eggs planted in this book about characters that don't have books but there own stories are developing.
A really lovely tale of interwoven motifs that help bring the two characters together. Found family always makes me swoon, and this was no exception. Sure, some things might have been signposted rather blatantly, but it didn't distract from a great story.

This is a wonderful story where you shed a tear and you swoon reading this story. The characters were great and brought together. I will leave the rest to you to read yourself, it is very worthwhile and highly recommended.

I read a lot of romantic novels and I can honestly say I absolutely loved Dean and Tabitha’s story. Their story story made my heart so happy and a smile on my face while ready this book.
Beautifully written but I just couldn't connect with Tabitha. I found her frustrating and living in her own little bubble and beliefs regardless of the facts that were staring her in the face. Loved Dean. Good read but not for me.
this book was awesome, showing the importance of friendship, how two people can fall in love and get to know each other. loved everything. page turner.
Most of the reviews are Arcs so I shouldn't have gone off of them to read this book.
I felt like this was really juvenile for who the characters were supposed to be. A smart and strategic billionaire and a business woman up for a promotion. But they act like teenagers and their behavior reflects that. Especially the fmc. She throws tantrums and has an immature outlook on life as well as unrealistic grudges.
