When Lainey left the little farming town in Iowa on her eighteenth birthday, she thought she was finally free. She didn’t have to live in fear anymore wondering which day was going to be her last. For those two years, she was able to live in peace. She’d made a new friend, was going to a school she loved, and was setting the path for her future career.
That all changed with one phone call from her mother.
With the push of her best friend, Randi, Lainey goes back into the town she once promised was forever in her rear-view mirror. The dark memories of her past loom around every corner, and Lainey can’t seem to conquer the demons inside of her in order to fully move on.
Bryce, on the other hand, had moved on. During middle school and high school, Lainey was his best friend, and it tore him apart when she left with only a note. A simple note saying good-bye and have a great life.
Without his best friend around, Bryce’s life quickly spiraled out of control. He got into drugs, had some trouble with the law, and found himself partying a little too hard. Sweet Annabeth brought him out of that stage in his life, and ultimately saved his life.
With Lainey back in town, Bryce is at a loss at what do. She wants nothing to do with him or the town, but he is the only person who knows her full history and may be able to help her. Knowing that Lainey’s a flight risk, and with one wrong move, she’d pack everything up and leave again, Bryce steps out to help her find the one thing she doesn’t know she needs.

Just.. WOW! I've just been reading free books from Amazon recently and found the first of the prophesized series for free, it sounded great so I read it and loved it so much I bought the rest of the series. I loved the rest of the series even more, and read the books so quickly. I wanted something else to read from Kaitlyn Hoyt, and therefore found Redeeming Lainey.. and WOW what a bloody amazing book. I don't think I've cried so much over a book before; sad and happy tears. I really love this book, and you can tell so much emotion has been put into it. It is very high up on my favourite books list (and that list is pretty long). I can't wait for more books from Kaitlyn, but i've read on her facebook page about the pressure of taking too long to write another book, but i'm sure everyone understands and is happy to wait for a book if there's a chance of it being anywhere near as good as all her other books.
I have just read this book again and feel like I need to add to my previous review. Still, after knowing what was coming up in the book I balled my eyes out at the utterly heartbreaking parts. There is such pure emotion in this book, and you can really connect with all of the characters. I think everyone should give this book a go, I don't see what there is not to love about it. Thank you Kaitlyn Hoyt for such a wonderful story, and one that I will happily read over and over again (in a room by myself, where no one can see me crying).
This book was AMAZING!! I Love love love a good "emotional" book!!! I cried, I laughed, I got frustrated! I believe that Kaitlyn Hoyt is one of my top 3 authors!!
As with every other book written by Kaitlyn Hoyt, this book was also a really great one! It was different from the books I usually read and still very enjoyable. I loved the writing style and Lainey's story was one big roller coaster ride of emotions that will most definitely make you cry throughout the book.
One of my most favorite things about this book were the characters. I loved how everyone was so supportive and understanding and always had Lainey's back, even when she refused to let them help her, especially Bryce. Even after everything that happened, he was still such a great friend to Lainey and despite the fact that she didn't want his help, he still refused to give up and did the best he could to help Lainey. Lainey was a very broken character as she had faced some horrible things in the past, and is still trying to find herself and get out of those memories that keeps hunting her. The way Lainey's character was written really helped in understanding her better. We got to see both the side of her that tried to stay strong and deal with everything as best as she could, and the side of her that was still very vulnerable and trying to let go of the past and move forward in her life. All the characters were written really well, and a big part of what made this book a great read.
However though, there were still two small things that kind of bothered me throughout the book. I felt like certain things were being repeated over and over again throughout the story that weren't really necessary. And also, as much as I loved Lainey and understood why she was the way she was, I felt that she was just too stubborn sometimes. Everyone kept trying to help her, but she just wouldn't let them and at one point it kind of got annoying. She had all this people who cared about her and supported her, but she refused to see it and tried to push them away from helping her. But in the end everything worked out and the story had a satisfying ending.
Redeeming Lainey is a very bittersweet story that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. I really enjoyed reading this book and was glad with how everything turned out. Kaitlyn Hoyt is an amazing writer and I can't wait to read more of her books!
I love this book. I was hooked from the first sentence and didn't stop until I was finished. Lainey had to deal with some dark issues and dealt with them the onle way she could figure out. I laughed and I cried. I will definitely read this book over and over. The feelings expressed were spot on.
I love this author!!!! Couldn't put it down after I had started. You will not be disappointed with buying this book. A girl with all this darkness in her life and the boy who is always going to be by her side to lead her out of the darkness.
No words to describe, how intense this book was, loved the entire story and all the characters. Definitely Kaitlyns best work yet, even though I love all the The Prophecies novels, its still my favorite!!
