Cassie Lewis has always gone with her family to their favorite vacation spot, the Mexican beach at the Sea of Cortez. It has had a huge impact on her life and career. The Sea of Cortez is the only place where the very elusive Vaquita, the smallest of all porpoise species live. They are extremely endangered.
Alejandro has never denied his future or his family and the Baja Resort will be his family's crowning glory. Too bad they are planning to build where the Vaquita Sanctuary was supposed to be built and operated by Cassie, until the offer was withdrawn.
When Cassie is in distress, Alejandro comes to her rescue but she does not know who he is and what company his family owns.
The author captures you with her beautiful descriptions and you feel as though you are right there with the characters in this wonderful tropical local.

Saving the vaquita porpoises from extinction has been her focus. Now all that work may be lost along with these beautiful animals. A last chance to save them may lead to a chance at the love of a lifetime, but will a family secret rip that away too?

I know this was meant to be a short story, so I shouldn't fault it for lack of detail/depth, but I didn't feel much of a connection to the characters at all. The story was fairly superficial and didn't even feel like a full story. I've read plenty of *even shorter* novellas that manage to accomplish much more.

I did not enjoy this book very much. I would give it 1 1/2 stars.
The characters were one dimensional and unrealistic. The storyline dragged and then wrapped up in a very neat bow. Thankfully, it was short.

This was a quick read that found me turning pages to see if Cassie would be successful in her plan to save the endangered dolphins.

Should you wish to waste some time reading a very short story, here's the sum:
Cassie wants to build a sanctuary in Baja Mexico for the vanquita, an endangered species of dolphin. Her proposal is refused by the landowners who wish to build a resort that will threaten the rest of the living dolphins. She decides to go to the area anyway and plead with the land owners to allow them to build the space.
First day there, she's swimming, gets caught in a net and is speared by a fishing hook and is rescued by a handsome Mexican stranger, Alejandro. They're attracted to each other and she tells him all about the vanquita and they go on a boat to look for them and they spend a day together. Her friend, Taylor, is not super sympathetic as she's getting a little somethin' somethin' while she's on vacay and it turns out this guy works for or with Alejandro... and that's when Cassie discovers Alejandro's lie.
It all works out in the end, and I suppose they love each other, but I don't remember it being said and if it was, it wasn't memorable, and I hate that.
This story did not need the grotesque description of the fishing hook in order to make its point about dolphins getting caught in fishing nets, either.

Typical romance
Cassie is an advocate for a rare type of porpoise nearing extinction. When a large company make.plans to build a resort in the area of Mexico where the porpoises live, she jumps.into action to try to convince the corporate giant to preserve a small area of the beach for a sanctuary to breed the porpoises and save them from extinction.
The plot was good, but wasn't developed well in my opinion. I didn't really connect well with characters, didn't really sense much of a connection between them either. A little more.development would have made this story really good. Some elements were predictable. It also seemed a little short.

Happily ever after in the last 3 pages. Writing style and dialog made me think the author is still in high school, or just barely out of.
