One sniff of her scent and the Alpha’s know that River is their mate. When River finds out that the Lodge is owned and operated by the Wilder Pack, she wants to run again. Together they learn that River isn’t just human, but a Healer with magic that can cure the sick and heal the injured. Bryce is a mother, a writer, and a wife who loves to escape to the world she built in the Ashland Pack. She burst onto the publishing scene with a hit in The Trinity. She loves writing and talking to people who have the same tastes as she does.
I'm a wife to a great hubby and mother to three beautiful children. I love to read books and write about places that come together in my head. I try to write about what I know and usually you will find some law enforcement in my books.
I write about strong characters that I want to see succeed in life. I always write a happy ending. I have to guys. I put a lot of tragedy in my books and then give them the much- needed break they need to be successful.

Healing Their Mate is Bryce Evan's second book in her The Love of a Shifter series. Each book can be read as a stand alone book but the series does feature recurring characters.
In Healing Their Mate, human River Channing is on the run from evil vampires. After moving from town to town for over a year, she lands in Freedom, Colorado, a town full of good shifters and vampires. River meets Ash (from Once Forgotten Twice Loved) who gives her a job at the resort. River also meets vampire Reece and werewolf Jonas who claim her as their mate.
Healing Their Mate is a long story (twice as long as the first story in the series.) I usually prefer novellas but I really enjoyed Healing Their Mate and the length didn't bother me at all. The story kept me intrigued throughout the whole story with a fast moving plot line, lots of great characters, and a great romance. Highly recommend!
I loved this second book in The Love of a Shifter series. AMAZING story!!!! This whole book takes you through one heck of a ride with all your emotions. River is a strong, beautiful, caring, and loving woman that is lost in her world until she meets everyone at the Meadowland Lodge including her mates Reece and Jonas and finds out there is more out there than she could ever have imagined. I love how everyone works together to remove the threat that is coming for River. She finds family, love, and a safe place she can call home.
I LOVED this story! I loved Reece & Jonas, sweet, funny & so alpha male and River, lovely, strong but vulnerable at the same time! It was funny and so sad(made me heartsore and I couldn't stop the tears) but a fantastic story! I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series!!!
This is the second book in Bryce's For Love of a Shifter series. I am totally loving the world that Bryce has set up in the series and love each character that I've met so far!
This book centers around River and her mates, Jonas & Reece that you met in book one! Whoop! I was stinking excited finding out that it was Jonas and Reece! River is on the run from a big bad vampire who wants her for his own. River runs right into Freedom Colorado where Jonas & Reece are. Almost right away River is confronted with the knowledge of her two mates but, that's not all she has to deal with. She stumbles onto the truth that she has powers that can balance the world and finds that she is one of three.
This book has a ton of sexual tension between Jonas, Reece & River, I loved how the conflict between a werewolf and vampire mating with a human was played out. While this trio didn't have a smooth start or any relatively smooth parts, I am in love with how this story builds multiple plot points while not losing focus on the main players.
These books are very closely connected and while you probably could read them as a standalone, I don't recommend it.
Forewarning: There are some grammar mistakes that weren't caught by editing, and so sometimes the conversations are stilted or something doesn't flow. If this is going to be a problem for you don't buy it! If this isn't a problem for you, like me, then go one-click it!
This is Book two in The love of a shifter series - a series I hope continues on.
In this book we meet River, a human with no family, on the run from an evil vampire named Paddock. Paddock knows she is special and drinking her blood will make him stronger and give him the power to kill his old enemy Reece. River runs for almost a year from town to town staying just a step ahead of Paddock and his men. Then one day she ends up at Meadowland Lodge (The Lodge from book 1 in series - Once Forgotten, Twice Loved). At the Lodge she meets her mates Reece and Jonas (both introduced to us in book 1) and yes, Reece is the vampire that Paddock is hell bent on killing.
The book takes us on a series of emotions (happy, sad, joy, scared, etc) as Reece and Jonas court River and try to convince her to stay put and become their mate. River makes friends and is beginning to feel safe but at the same time she is scared that Paddock will find her and kill them all her new friends and lovers.
Does she have the strength to stay put and become a part of a community and to finally have a family and close friends? Will she pick up and run again to keep her new friends safe? Does Paddock find her? It's worth the read to find out for sure - 2 thumbs up!
Awesome, erotic love story with a great storyline. I cant wait for next book in this series!
Where do I begin, I could barely put book 1 down, book 2 forget it. I got only a few hours of sleep with this one. River,Jonas and Reece this was about them. Poor River she has been through hell and back. She stops in Freedom, Colorado pulls in a parking lot all the way in the back so she can get some sleep.someone called the sheriff to let him know. He goes to check it out and wake River up. She is scared and worried, she does everything the sheriff ask. The sheriff feels a pool to River he doesn't know why, but he has to do something. He takes her to the lodge, introduces her to everyone. River panics and goes to the bathroom and ends up passing out. Ashland feels a pull towards River also. Ashland starts talking to River and asking simple question, River is scared and doesn't answer all the questions. River is so tired she falls asleep, Ashland notices that River is acting strange so she snoop in rivers pocket brocket and finds the newspaper clippings. Ashland is worried and she calls her uncle and her friend Jonas. She shows it to them and Reece is worried. This puts things in motion. You must read this in order to find out what happens.
I truly enjoyed Healing Their Mate (Book 2) in the series The Love of a Shifter. I started this book right before I went to bed and found that I had to keep turning the pages to find out what was going to happen to River when I looked up it was way past my bedtime. This book kept me intrigued and wanting more. River is running from a crazed vampire that wants her for her special blood. River ended up in a town called Freedom where she actually thought she was losing her mind because she was able to see the animals in each shifter. River got a job in Freedom and thought she could finally settle down and stop running and this is where she meets her mates Jonas who is a wolf and Reece who is vampire. River is scared to death of them so they must prove themselves and win the love of there mate all the while with a crazy vampire hot on there trail wanting there mate for his own personal blood slave. Can Reece and Jonas save River from a vampire that is determined to have her for her special blood or will they be to late. You will have to read it for yourself to see. You want regret picking this book up. Cant wait to see what happens in the next book.

Healing Their Mate(Love of a Shifter Book 2)by Bryce Evans
WOW!!! Each book is just getting better and better!! The main characters are going to make you fall in love with them but the secondary characters are also completely inspiring too. Can't wait for their stories and they do deserve their own HEA ROMANCE. This addition brings more family members together that again didn't know they even had, plus reconnecting with characters from book 1,new mating triad of Hot Alphas and a wonderfully deserving but endangered young women..River who needs them and their journey through to get their own HEA. Plenty of twist and turns to give us readers an awesome time reading this fantastic series. So definitely don't miss out!!! I'm so looking forward to the next addition to this series!!! Hope it's going to be soon!
Fabulous story. I love River, she had such a difficult childhood and start to life, all she wanted was a family. Not knowing just how special she is she meets vampire Paddock Reed who wants her. On the run she meets her mates Jonas and Reece. It was awsome to see two Alphas being brought to their knees by a young human. Until tragedy strucks. I enjoyed seeing their love developing. This story is one emotional roller coaster. We get introduced to lots of new characters and I cannot wait to read their stories.
Awesome shifter suspense!I love the community at the lodge. The characters carry over from the first book. Each one adding their gifts to track down Paddock. Reece, Jonas, and River have their love story, but the main storyline is what the Vampires are doing to find River. I was surprised at the level of violence. It definitely isn't for the faint of heart! The community bands together to protect their own. I look forward to the next book.. *** I was given this book as a gift from the author in exchange for my honest review.***
The story to this book was great. There is so much action in the story.Tragedy brings all of these people together and love keeps them bound together.I cannot wait for book 3 to come out.Read the first book so you understand what is going on.You will enjoy the journey you're on while reading this book.
I found this book by chance and loved every minute of it .. the characters are so enjoyable to read about they pull you in with them . I think this is a must read , five stars all the way
This is a great read. I can't wait till the next book comes out . I will be watching for if to come out. Absolutely love the story line of this series.
I couldn't put the book down. I just fell in love the character. Your heart goes to what some of the characters went threw in their lives. I can't wait the next book out.
The story is pretty good but the writing is terrible.
I gave this book a 2 star because the story stuck with me and made me want to learn more about the character and what happened to them. However the writing is redundant, very few contractions (which is really how we talk in real life) and I could barely stand the representative language. For example:. Larkin and Larson stuff up to start the meeting and said: "OK, let's get this meeting started.". Another example; River, the heroine, is talking to Reecee, no one else around, and then the next sentence is River said to Reece. It's a given that she's taking to Reece. It didn't need to be stated again. There are so many frustrating repetitive and redundant things like this. I had to put it down because I wanted to edit the book so it's easier to read. But I picked it back up because I wanted to finish the story and am suffering thru the writing.
River has been on the run for way too long and finding it harder and harder to stay ahead. Falling asleep in a parking lot changes the course of her life. She is brought to Meadowland Lodge where she finds food, shelter, friends, family and her mates.
River feels things she can’t explain towards Reece and Jonas but she is not willing to act on them or let her guard down because she knows she will need to run again. Reece and Jonas want to take their time letting their mate get to know them but the mating pull is too much. Jonas seems to be more understanding in this but Reece has a hard time wooing his mate.
River knows she isn’t completely human and with the threat getting closer she knows she needs to run. She has grown fond of the people living at the lodge and doesn’t want to bring harm to them. Her mates know they must get rid of the threat or their mate will run again.
I really liked this story, with all the points of view. Also, the sex scenes are steamy. However, I sort of feel like I just read the same story twice. There are a lot of similarities between the first and second stories.
I enjoyed Healing Their Mate by Bryce Evans. While this is second in the Love of a Shifter series, this story can be read as a stand alone. I loved Jonas from the first. He was an Alpha with a wicked sense of humor. I loved his ability to put others at ease even as he picked on his best friend. When he learned that he would have to share a mate, he was able to roll with the punches. He wasn’t expecting it and while he was aware of Reece they were not old friends so they had to learn about each other while at the same time working together to ease their skittish mate’s fears. And speaking of their mate, I loved that River didn’t make it easy for them. She was afraid of paranormals, with good reason, but she fought hard to move beyond her fears. I loved that Ms. Evansgave us such a strong female character. River found the strength to make a stand even as she was worried about her new friends. I thought Ms. Evans articulated her concerns well even as she allowed River to enjoy the courtship given her by Reece and Jonas. I found myself appreciating the joy that River found in simple things like a sleigh ride or ice skating. Material things meant little to her and I loved that about her. Ms. Evans gave us a story that focused on love and acceptance. It was well written and the characters were likeable and funny. Ms. Evans is a relatively new author to me and I am looking forward to reading more from her.
River Channing grew up in orphanages. Always on the outside looking in and wishing she had family, someone to care for her. One day she meets Paddock Reed who does his best to sweep her off her feet. He succeeds until he invites her to his house where he shows his true colors. He turns out to be a vampire and wants River for the super strength her blood will give him. She runs from him, always looking over her shoulder as she tries to stay one step ahead of him and his followers. Until she finds herself in Freedom, Colorado working for some shifters.
Vampire Reece Ramsey, the leader of his clan, and Alpha werewolf shifter Jonas Glenn live in Freedom and work for a new shifter Unit charged with maintaining law and order amongst the many paranormal beings around them. They are considering the next case for the Unit when they run into River who turns out to be their mate. They and the Unit decide to make hunting down Paddock Reed their newest case. Unfortunately before they are able to capture him, he grabs River and tries to drain her blood so he and his second-in-command will be the strongest vampires around.
How Reece and Jonas, and some new friends and family they meet along the way, get their mate back and dispose of Paddock and his crew makes for very exciting reading. This book has some editing and proofreading errors but I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good paranormal story.
Bryce Evans has quickly become my favourite paranormal romance author, she has incredible talent and experience with her descriptive writing and incredible Imagination. Healing their mate has so many different pathways this storyline opens up that I am hoping this brilliant author develop's this series to encompass the different numerous possibilities that have been carefully introduced. The contents and intrigue found within the uncanny events between the amazing characters she has created for us make it so easy to feel deeply with these entertaining and thriving people. Our three main characters certainly have their lives full of challenges and numerous opportunities, it just takes a huge leap of faith by all concerned. knowing that when the fates make a choice they're never wrong. You will find yourself drawn into all the happiness, emotional turmoil and learning curves that proceed Jonas, Reece and River as they try to learn and understand how badly they need each other while realising they are perfectly matched. Trying to fight it meant you would Only create havoc to all involved including those around them who loved and cared for each deeply. Grab your copy today of this awesome novel and find out exactly what and where this fast paced action packed novel with its tantilizing characters end up. Definitely one for your book shelves.
River thought she found a good man in Paddock until she found out he wasn't a man at all. Months on the run River is on her last leg when she stumbles into Freedom, Colorado where Ash is determined to help her. When she brings in her Vampire Uncle Reece and Alpha Wolf Jonas the two realize River is their mate, but with everything shes been through will they ever be able to help her see all they ant is to love her and not hurt her?
Jonas is the perpetual jokster from book 1 always able to lighten up any situation. But he's also very serious when it comes to protecting those he loves.
Reece is an leader who is always way too serious so watching the child like wonder in him when he sees how River sees things were some of my favorite moments in the book.
River has had it tough her whole life and trusting others is not something she knows how to do anymore. She's a tough girl, but watching as she trusted her gut and allowed these two guys in was great to see.
There are plenty of ups and downs espically when is comes trust. We also see more of Ash and the other characters from book 1 and how their HEA is going. Although still a good read and addition to the series I did want to see more info about the paranormal world as well as more info and background on the characters.
This was a very good book, I enjoyed the storyline. The editing was poor, but the story itself was so good I had to read it. The story starts out telling about a young woman who foolishly believed a vampire cared for her, unfortunately she didn't know he was a vampire. He only wanted her for the power he would get from her blood. She manages to escape from him with the help of one of his own vampires, who then also goes on the run. She runs for a year, going from town to town getting waitressing jobs to keep herself together. The last stop is in a small town where she befriends an older lady and they look out for each other. Then a vampire scout shows up and she's on the run again, except this time she winds up in the right town. The story takes on speed...and eventually ends with a happy ending. This really is a very good story and I would recommend it for anyone who likes paranormal romance (with hot scenes). It would have been 5 stars if not for the editing issues.
3.5 Stars I really liked the storyline to this book and the characters. I like a book where you can feel the emotions of the characters and Bryce Evans definitely did that with this one. I felt the passion and the protectiveness that came from Reece and Jonas. River was struggling and you can sense the panic and sadness and all the emotions she went through throughout the story.
I love that it wasn't just all sad, angry and hot sex. There was also humor included which had me laughing out loud at some of things that happen. River is a spitfire for sure and Jonas will keep you entertained.
Some of the story just kinda dragged on for me and it took a while to get to the really good parts that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Also, the editing issues are a real downer. It interrupts the overall flow of the story. But overall, the story itself makes a good read.
In the second love a shifter series a vampire wants River's blood because it will make him stronger and he is willing to kill to get it. River has been on the run for over a year but strange things are happening. There are vampires and she keeps seeing animals inside a lot of people. She's at the end of her rope; exhausted, starving, and out of money, she parks at a super store parking lot and crawls in the back seat to sleep. And that's where her adventure really begins. She is the mate to a werewolf and a vampire who swears they will protect her if she will give them the chance. Find out is River agrees and what she finds out about herself and others by reading "Healing Their Mate".
Book two in The love of a shifter series. We meet River who is a human on the run from evil vampire Paddock. She finds a job in Meadowland Lodge. Here she meets her mates Reece and Jonas (we met them in Once forgotten twice loved). They set on a journey of showing River that she is the one but she is scared that Paddock will find her and kill them all. With a help from Jansen River discovers she has special powers. She meets the family that she never new she had. Together they fight evil. Great story with sexy Alpha males, new characters and hot sex. Cant wait for next book!
I really enjoyed reading this book I love the interaction between River Jonas and Reece. This book takes you are an emotional roller coaster. I also love the fact that wasn't all about hot sex either we had humor which had me laughing out loud at some parts. I also was wondering if it was true the fact that River turned into a vampire it was never confirmed if she was if she wasn't. Overall it was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in series.
