Lynn’s surgery has begun, and Mel is right by her side, assisting with the operation. Things are going smoothly—until the director hears that Mel has postponed her surgeries so she can operate on her girlfriend. The tension sky rockets in an already tense situation as Sue bursts in on the operation and orders Mel to leave the room immediately. With Lynn’s heart literally on the line, Mel is forced to choose between giving in to her ex’s orders and seeing her girlfriend’s surgery through to the end.
Returned to this spicy, sapphic, medical drama/romance series at the perfect time - to get my Pride Month reading going! ✨🏳️🌈💖
Pulse is rather X-rated/NSFW, but also has such a good storyline - between a patient and doctor who have fallen madly in love. Gosh, this volume had me in tears. It’s quite jarring going from such heart-rendering moments, to scenes of BDSM. Dr Mel Sievers performed heart surgery on Lynn, the process of Lynn’s recovery is going smoothly until the director of the hospital, Sue, finds out that Mel postponed her other surgeries to prioritise Lynn. This, mixed with Sue’s own personal feelings towards Mel, put Mel’s career in jeopardy. Is this the end of road for Mel and Lynn’s relationship? Will Sue get what she wants?
”There’s a feeling we’ve all experienced before. The calm before the storm. People rarely give it a second thought… That the monsoon might already be here… Before you even see it coming.”
Ahhhhh, I love/hate this arc of the story. I hate that Sue's evil/unhinged behavior includes SA, but I wasn't surprised by it, given her "relationship" with Olivia. Her "dom" behavior is abusive and not a good example of how kink it is/should be.
I hate when stories have someone breaking up with the person they love to "protect" them as Lynn did, but given that she's in her early 20s, I felt like it fit with the character.
I am glad Olivia finally called Sue on her shit in the end, and Mel learned what Sue had done/is doing. It took her way too long (I cannot believe she didn't turn on Sue when she found out she bumped Lynn down on the heart transplant list to force Mel into a corner, but at least preventing rape caused her to act). The cliffhanger at the end is killing me. I need volume 7 ASAP.

Fantastic! Everything you want in a mature sapphic love story. W|W / Yuri - whatever you want to call it. The art is beautiful and a good story with drama, suspense and even little cutesy moments. 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a NSFW graphic love story.
Go-to binge Yuri romance with some serious steamy scenes in between the genuine love and romance between the two characters. The main characters aren't broken or anything, one is a heart surgeon who lives hard and fast and parties harder with ladies, simply because she can, and then she meets a girl battling for her life with a heart condition and decides to allow the girl into her life, thinking she could never fall for this little nobody who turns into being the best thing that ever happened to her. The ending always makes me tear up a bit. That's how you know it's good writing.
This continues to be heavy of the bondange stuff with Sue but the drama between Mel, Lynn, and Sue is very good. The ending of this volume was great and has set the stage for the final volume. I am not sure what to expect but this has been a fun read and I am hoping to see a good conclusion. The art and colors were vivid in as always.
As a complete package I think this series deserves 5-stars, although with manga it isn’t always consistent quality through all of the volumes. A delightful grumpy X sunshine situation, that strikes a good balance between being realistic and convoluted. There is some great foreshadowing. Some of the characters are a lot of fun, including the side characters.
I like the art, and the artist does a good job of using it to portray emotions and action.
The protagonists are absolutely adorable together and I genuinely wish for their happiness. They are both so wonderful, especially Lynn who is one of the sweetest little cinnamon buns.
The early volumes are very lighthearted and fun (mostly) and I really enjoyed them. The second half gets a lot more serious and has a sizable dose of conflict and angst. I highly recommend this to any manga readers out there.
I want horrible things to happen to the antagonist. Truly, horrible, unspeakable things.
