But that one word asked many times led me to science and writing--especially in the physical sciences. And all of that led me to have quite an wide range of other writing topics--from weather in Antarctica to the many facets of Forensic Science. Yes, I've always been "the geek next door"... and with more than three dozen books to my credit (mostly on science), no one questions my geekiness anymore!
The latest book is from Visible Ink Press--The Handy Forensic Science Answer Book. Thomas Svarney is my co-author, and is one heck of a researcher. (He also has a science background, so we can discuss the mechanics of the climate without scratching our heads in puzzlement...Well, within reason!) The book was interesting to put together and we learned a great deal about forensics. It was especially fun since the subject includes so many different sciences.

With such an intriguing title, there was no way I could pass up entering the Goodreads giveaway. And I’m so glad I won!
This is a women’s health book, loaded with information about the fairer sex. It’s in a Q&A format, with each question being answered in great detail. There are ten chapters total, nine are themed and the last one is of miscellaneous questions. Following this is the appendix, source citations, and resources for further reading. There are also “Them and Us” segments scattered throughout that more closely compare men and women.
Instantly, you can see that this book is incredibly well researched. The author backs up each answer with studies and the prevailing theories. But this doesn’t mean the book is boring. It certainly doesn’t read like a textbook. Barnes-Svarney make the information interesting and easy to understand. Also, she’s funny. There are jokes and funny remarks throughout that make the book more enjoyable.
As for the questions themselves, they are very interesting. Some are things people often wonder about. Others, people just assume they know the answer already. But what we think we know by way of wives tales are dismissed, replaced by facts. Even if you know the general answer to a question already, as was the case for me with some, there is still more to learn because of the depth of the answers. Plus, it nice to be able to give sources when someone says “prove it” to you.
Overall, this book is well written and makes learning about health fun. It is both informative and insightful. I’d recommend it to any woman interested in learning more about how her mind and body works. I’d even recommend it to men who want to understand the opposite sex better.

I liked this book a lot for its informative, often humorous, explanations of random questions that many people have probably wondered about. Some serious, some not so serious. It's all about women, although it often discusses men as well. It's a light read, doesn't have to be read beginning to end, and could be a great bathroom or beach read.

Let me be honest, the title of this book is what drew me in. Title aside, I liked this book and all its random tidbits of information. The book is in a Q&A format and the writer (who seems to have spent a lot of time researching her material) goes in to detail in answering every question

This book is a great read when you just have a few minutes, or if you just need something light and witty to read in your downtime. Even though I'm the type of person who researches everything any time I have a question, this book taught me a lot of things that I was totally unaware of - it even explained things that I remember wondering back when I was a teen (and totally forgot about in adulthood). This is definitely a book that every woman (teen and up) could enjoy reading.

This ia a goodreads free book for me, and I am glad I got it. I found the information inside informative, thoroughly researched and well presented. I think every woman should read this book because it answers questions about and probes areas where we all seek more information. The format, question and answer, is well suited. There are ten chapters, nine of which cover specific areas and one of which is a chatch all, miscellaneous. Throughout there are also areas where male and felales are compared. The tone of the book is light yet shows a great deal of research on the part of the author. I think the title is the one thing that will and does attract a reader's attention. I intend to pass this on to my favorite women.

As I'm sure we are all here because of the same reason, there is no way that the title of this book does not make you curious. There are many categories in this book, so don't think it is only questions about sex. There was actually a lot of information in it, some which would be good for most or all women to discover.
I was actually quite surprised by some of the answers, but doing some research for fact-checking, it seems to be correct. I found it to be a very intriguing book, and would recommend it to anyone that is interested.

I won this book from a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
It had a lot of interesting information in it, I'll certainly give it that! Each chapter is broken down by question topic. This works well because all of the questions in a chapter have the same general theme to them.
It is apparent that a ton of research went into making this book and I give the author a lot of credit for that. At times, however, I felt like the writing style wasn't sophisticated enough. It seemed a little unpolished.
I would certainly let people borrow this book, as it's a good read through.

This is a book that every mother and daughter aught to read together throughout the daughter's teen years. Had I had this book as a teen, I might have saved myself alot of self-doubt and frustration.
Many of the questions asked in this book have been asked by teen girls and adult females throughout history, and they answers are both timely and sometimes a little surprising. For example, Women can sometimes feel, smell, or taste colors.

After reading the title I HAD to enter the giveaway for this book! and I am so glad i won! Not only was this book fun and witty but also quite informative! I read this book while on vacation so it was even better to have a nice light and fun book to read in between my trips to the beach! Such a fun read! I would recommend it to anyone!

woman oriented, lots of interesting facts and explanations. However, the title is misleading. It is not just about sex.
