Friends since childhood and lovers as adults, Roxi leaves Jonathan without explanation. He assumes it's due to his changing lifestyle; venturing deep into the world of BDSM, but she has a deeper secret that has her running away.
After a life-changing year in hiding, Roxi comes home a new woman, a sub with masochistic needs. When she confides her secret to him, Jonathan realizes that to keep her safe from harm, he must be her Dom, and help her obtain the physical peak she needs. Love cannot be a part of the equation. Jonathan has to protect his heart and guard his soul.
As he finds himself falling for another woman, Roxi admits she wants more from Jonathan. She wants his heart and soul along with his perfect domination. She wants a life with him, but can he risk loving Roxi again?
I'm an emotional reader so that's how I rate books that I read:
5 Stars - really, really loved it! Made me real emotional - I laughed, or I cried. 4 Stars - loved it! Made me giggle, or made me sad. 3 Stars - enjoyed it - didn't provoke emotions in me but it was a good/okay read.
Silken Edge #2 can be read as a stand alone which is what I did. Not sure if not reading the 1st in this series shadowed my comments but I just did not like Roxi and Jonathan. BDSM flavor but outside of the Liam character, Roxi's New York Dom, the main characters were just very disappointing. Jonathan was not only not a strong lead but one that held grudges and was full of himself. Roxi who left her long time friend and lover comes back a high strung women with dark issues. "A copy of this book was provided by Season Publishing via Negalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
This is book two from Silken Edge series, and the story of Roxi and Jonathan. It's different, and a little dark compared to The Silken Edge's story of Jake and Kristy, but they are two different couples, with two different life styles.
Review from BDSM Book Review:
"The BDSM scenes are scrumptious and enticing as they capture the reader’s attention and even their imagination...This story receives a spankalicious five out five paddles. If the scale went higher this story would receive a much higher rating."
Even better than the first! Jonathan was my favorite character from Silken Edge so it was nice to read a book where he was the main character. He and Roxi both have a lot of issues and the development of such problems was really well done, as well as the consistency when it came to character development. I also enjoyed seeing characters from the first book and LOVED meeting the new characters. The roommates were hilarious. If you never had roommates like that, you will probably wish you had.
My oh my, She warned me. I promised she did. She told me I was gonna get frustrated with these two but love the book over all and what do you know she was right. Roxie and Jonathon will have you yelling at the book going you are complete idiots. Dont yall know you both love each other the same. But like i said with the first book Ms Paige hooks you in within the first few pages and makes you need the next book to figure out whats next for the whole cast. I cant wait for the next installment and see whats next for this lovely series.
Silken Desires is a spicy roller coaster ride of emotions that gets in the minds of the two main characters, Roxi and Jonathan. I liked that it switched back and forth the way it did. The storyline was entertaining and mysterious. This relationship was one full of exploration. I could only imagine what kind of research it took to get this story just right. ;-)
Even though this is not my usual genre I found myself intrigued and wanting to know more. Anticipating the next move.
Jonathan and Roxi= explosions! It's obvious to everyone but themselves how much love they have for each other. Both are strong-willed and stubborn! Laci adds even more dimensions to BDSM relationships in this second book and it rocks!
Jonathan, I loved you from the first book, but oh did you drive me insane with some of your actions-- even if I did understand your reasons. A must read! Can't wait to read more of this series.
I received a free copy for this e-book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I started reading this book because I was curious about Roxi and Jonathan's story after having met them in the first book, Silken Edges. Their story turned out to be way more complicated than expected and filled with emotional and sexual roadbumps. I loved it!
From the first book you might think that Roxi left because she doesn't do kink and couldn't handle that side of Jonathan, but the reality is quite the opposite; she likes pain in the kink and doesn't believe he can inflict it on her, at least not at the level she needs. But the love is still there. She returns after a while and they bot get their emotions messed with, he is guarded about letting her back in to his heart emotionally and she needs a Dom and wants nobody but him. In the end, after several detours, wrong assumptions and some heartbreak, things end well for our couple.
I like the depths of the characters, the phsycological aspect of Roxi's need for physical pain and the way Jonathan can, to some extent, switch personality when being a Dom and not. In the beginning it was hard to connect with Roxi, because it is hard to imagine being addicted to pain so badly that you will do anything for the person inflicting it upon you. If I had to kneel on a floor for several hours, even if it was as a punishment, I would not have been happy with that person afterwards, so her crying and feeling guilty over what she did in stead, did not sit right with me. But being submissive is a lifestyle and I suppose you have to embrace it fully in order to have to full effect. I also struggled with them supposedly being able to separate kink and love. I get that Jonathan manages at work, but not in his real life, with a person he has loved for years. And as it turns out, he didn't manage after all.
The last part I struggled with was the lack of jealousy. No one, not even Linda, who is supposed to be a "normal" person, shows a hint of jealousy! Everbody is so understanding and intuitive about R and J's situation. If the guy I dated said he loved his best friend and she was his sub, but they could never be a couple so no worries, I would not have been completely ok wih that. And Liam, who loves Roxi, just lets her go because she loves Jonathan and he is so understanding about it that he can even do the binding ceremony with them. Some sad feelings are mentioned, but not a hint of jealousy or fighting for the good thing they had going, which would be reasonable since R and J were both adamant about them never working out. But what do I know, maybe it is an BDSM thing...=)
Sounded fun but....I didn't like it. My first Laci Page read, and I'm unsure of whether its just this book, or her writing style that I didn't like, so I need to try another before deciding she's not an author for me.
I just found it weird how they separated, found it distasteful how Jonathan supposedly still loves Roxi but is off searching for other women for sex at the first opportunity. We see that right at the stat with Linda, the air stewardess, when he forgets all about Roxi needing his help, to trot off after her for sex. That leads Roxi into being injured and sets things up for them to stay close for a few days.
For a couple that had been so close for so many years they just don't talk to each other, and have no idea about each others real needs and feelings. I know some people have issues and need pain, but I didn't understand why Roxi was this way, when it started, what was the focus, the cause. It just felt as if she's woke up one day thought "I need pain, Jonathan can't do it so I'm off" And left...
One moment she's saying Dom Liam, who she'd spent the past year with, wanted more than she could give, and wasn't great, then she seemed to think he's Mr Wonderful. From the way she talked about him I expected someone very different from the respectful, caring man he proved to be. I didn't like Linda, she thought Roxi and Jonathon were together but had no issues with hiving him off elsewhere on the plane so she got her chance to chat him up. Jonathan sees that but still doesn't care either. I just couldn't understand what was between Roxi and Jonathan, they had no idea of each others real needs, they never seemed to talk, to have ordinary conversations, and everything just seemed to revolve around playrooms and the two BDSM clubs. Even actions there seemed pretty lax, compared the the usual strict behaviour put forward in most BDSM reads. Even RACK clubs have basic rules, to ensure everyone is actually consenting.
My biggest issue though was the way Jonathon was constantly telling himself he loved Roxi, while going all out for sex with whichever female was to hand, disregarding their actual feelings and not behaving in any way as a good Dom IMO. Then all those issues they both have through the book suddenly get resolved - and I'm still not sure what actually changed, not convinced Roxi and Jonathan wouldn't fall at the next little hurdle.
Stars: Two, a fail for me :-( didn't like many of the characters, didn't like the storyline as it played out.

Sigh...once again I am in the minority about a book. So here it goes. Silken Desires just did not do it for me. I didn't like or connect with either of the two leads, Roxi and Jonathan. I found Roxi to be an insecure, whiny mess and Jonathan to be one of the least Dom like Doms, ever. If his eyes welled up in tears one more time I would have thrown him a couple boxes of tissues and left him to it.
For the life of me, I could not understand how Roxi and Jonathan ever got together in the past or in the present because they didn't seem to even like each other. For two people who were supposedly so in love, they sure didn't act like it. She, with her running off and ending up with another Dom because she needed more pain, and he with his endless subs and all the other women he graced with time between the sheets. Sheesh, it was a veritable sex fest, but with people other than the two leads who supposedly loved each other and only each other.
And then the fact that their two needs just simply did not complement each other's. She needed lots of pain, and Jonathan could not bring himself to inflict it on her. But, at least she found her way through that issue, AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE!!! Whatever.
Ugh, I will admit that Silken Desires is hot. The BDSM scenes are sexy, and they carried this story. Jonathan and Roxi absolutely did nothing for me but annoy the ever loving shit out of me. But, at least the sexy times were plentiful and hot. That's about all Silken Desires had going for it, in my opinion.

I am giving this book a 1.5 star rating. I wanted to start off saying that I like this author's writing style. It makes for a quick and easy read. I like this author from reading her first book. However, I can say this this book was not for me. I was warned that the characters were a little immature so I expected that, but the story was riddled with tons of immaturity. These was not the same characters that I read in the first story. They were so sure of themselves, knew who they were, and knew what they wanted. It was the total opposite in this book.
This is the story of Jonathan and Roxanne (Roxi). Jonathan has been the best friend of Roxi's twin brother since they were children. Roxi and Jonathan were destined to be together. They just could not know how to make their relationship work. From the very giving I saw the immaturity. Roxi made a statement saying that only if Jonathan could be the man she needed him to be. That made it seem like his was the only problem and that he needed to change. She was perfect and did not need to change a thing about herself and her attitude towards him.
If I remember correctly from the last book, Roxi and Jonathan were trying to find a way to coexist or find a median into a normal relationship that she wanted and the kinky aspect he craved. This book started as if they had already decided against a relationship and that was no way to salvage it. They kept having thoughts saying they loved each other but their actions said otherwise. Throughout the story I was not getting a good impression of Jonathan. He seemed selfish and a prick. He basically forgot about Roxi to pursue another woman and only cared about her when she got hurt from his neglectful behavior. Roxi and Jonathan just kept pushing each other away but they wanted a D/s relationship that did not involve emotions. That did not make sense since they love each other deeply. That kind of decision was a disaster waiting to happen. Keeping those emotions away was a promise neither of them was able to keep. The characters were up and down.
Also, the storyline moved too fast. It was not connecting. If this was a standalone book then the reader would be very confused. The reader did not get to know the characters' backstory, the connection to each other, and what they went through. The plot took too many tangents and involved other characters to where you thought these characters would not ever get together. Jonathan met a stewardess, Linda, on the plane. This was the reason he neglected Roxi in the first place. He says he is attracted to Linda and had strong feelings for her to where he could imagine himself having a relationship with her. I was confused by all of that. He treated Linda, a person he barely knew, very nicely. He cherished her and made her feel special. On the other hand, he treated Roxi, who he claimed was the love of his life, like crap. And Roxi was back and forth with her former Dom. These characters were confused about what they wanted.
Another thing I did not like was that the author made the D/s relationship aspect seem like a joke with the storyline involving Linda and her roommates. It might have seemed like comic relief but it came off more as not being serious. He could not reveal the details of his activities with Roxi but he could just do all those private things in front of Linda's roommates and be comfortable with it. It did not register to me to be something solemn and special between 2 people.
I cannot recommend this book. The characters were just too different and there was too much going on. Maybe the next series will be up to par.

The second book of the Silken Edge series follows Roxi and Jonathan's story. The story includes Linda and Liam as well as our well known characters of Kristy and Jay from book 1. Once again the love scenes are around BDSM lifestyle but with more hard scenes than the first book.
I think the author in this book has put quite an effort to develop the characters in depth and the whole story is full of emotional analysis. Once again the story has a happy end.
If you are into BDSM I think you will like it more than No.1. If you did not like No.1, then you will not probably enjoy much this one as it has more hard sex scenes.
Roxi and Johnathan known each other forever and I believe that truly contributed to the dynamic of this love story. They showed ua the true give and take involved in a relationship and that you should always have open vommunication instead of running away from your problems, that never resolves anything. I was so drawn into this story and this couple who had to learn that love conquers all! I loved their story and the love they share is magnificent.

This is book two in the Silken Edge series and once again the Author did not disappoint. From the first book I wanted to know more about Roxi and Jonathan and she definitely explains what happened to cause their distance. Jonathan has been in love with Roxi and vice versa since they were kids, and that love never dies. They just have to get past many things in order to be together. It’s definitely worth the read and I look forward to the third book.
A wonderful exploration of BDSM. Tumultuous. Endearing and dripping with hot sexy Doms. A turbulent love affair Johnaton and Roxi share a complicated love.
This book had me going through a lot of emotions. Happy one minute then crying for characters. I wasn't even sure who I was crying for. This author had me from page one. I felt like I was right there.
I am going to warn you upfront there are many elements of this book that will not appeal to traditional romance readers. The leads spend time in the sack with folks other than each other, this is usually a deal breaker for me. It is more real life romance, with all the drama and heartache, than a fantasy love.
While there were many things about this book that did not appeal to me, the fact the guy spends more time in bed with other women than the so called love of his life, I still enjoyed the read. In the end I agree they were meant for each other, they just took a long time getting there.
Roxi is all over the place for most of the book. For somebody so familiar with the lifestyle, she certainly has a lot of hang ups. For most of the book I was not loving Jonathan, he tends to think with his pants.
I love the mixed narrative on this book, it really helps you get into the mind of masochists and sadists. It does come with a lot of dram in the relationship, but the alternating POV helps you follow where the leads really are. Often times they say or do things out of spite, very real life!
I listened to audiobook narrated by John Anthony Davis. His ladies voices were no better than the last narrator on the series. Ugh, it was so disappointing because everything else was strong. He had terrific pace and energy throughout the read. All the men were deliciously voiced. Perhaps he should do MM narration.
Overall, I was happy with the conclusion of this book, but it was a struggle getting there. I prefer the fantasy romance where the couples are only with each other. This was a huge lesson in the darker side of BDSM, very nicely handled from beginning to end.
Silken Desires is the second book in the Silken Edge Series by Laci Paige.
It is an emotionally charged, well written story of Jonathan and Roxanne who have been in love since they were kids. Jonathan is a Dominant and Roxanne is his submissive until one day she leaves him and does not return until a year later. Which is when we eventually find out her reason for leaving Jonathan so abruptly.
In the first book we met Roxanne’s twin brother and Jonathan’s best friend Jake and his Submissive/Girlfriend Kristy. In that story Kristy is introduced to the world of BDSM. Roxanne and Jonathan’s story is a little darker than Jake and Kristy’s as their tastes in BDSM are different. Jonathan enjoys verbal humiliation whilst Roxanne enjoys pain.
This is an interesting story and does keep the reader intrigued as to which direction this couple’s relationship will head. Yes, we do get that happy ending we are all in search for however it takes a lot of pushing and pulling so to speak before we reach that point.
Even though this book is darker than the first , the ending left me with a smile on my face and thinking about it long after I finished. You do not need to have read The Silken Edge to be able to follow this story but it is an advantage to have done so as it provides you with a little background knowledge of Roxanne and Jonathan.
If you like books that contain BDSM in it then you may enjoy this.
They just keep getting better.. I enjoyed Desires even more than the first book! Laci opens up a window on the world of BDSM and gives the reader front row seats.. the easy reading style of this book just adds to the enjoyment and I found quite deceptively drew me in and immersed me.. I half expected to come out of the book with red spank welts on my butt.. okay I may have one or two.. no more than five.. or six.. err anyway back to the story.. something for the voyeur in us all!
I wanted to read this book as soon as I read the blurb for it. I almost didn't finish it when I got into it because the characters just wasn't what I wanted.
I really enjoyed this book and the characters Roxi and Jonathan...They are definitely HOT in all the right places...Will definitely be back to read more by this Author...Thank you Laci Paige for taking me along for the ride :)
Jonathon and Roxi have been in love forever, supposedly. She left him without explanation and is now back. He says he loves her but sleeps around in front of her. Their relationship is confusing and frustrating. Nothing about it feels like love and by the end I stopped caring especially when the reason she left is something she no longer wants.
