I had the pleasure of meeting Ardeth Kapp shortly after I read this book at "Time Out For Women" in February of 2009 in Ogden, Utah. When I asked if she would sign this book she embraced me and said, "You're one of my girls." It was a very special experience for me. She is a remarkable woman. This was one of the first books I read about the Temple. I think I read the whole thing in a day. It is an easy read and filled with the most amazing stories. Ardeth's personal experiences had such an impact on me during a time when I was growing spiritually to prepare to enter into the Lord's house.
The title says it all! It’s a must read for those that can read. The Temple is my happy place and I miss going there, but I can’t wait until they open back up!
Lovely little book of personal essays. Ardeth Kapp shares nicely crafted nuggets of thought that gain power with the use of personal stories as metaphor or illustration. None of the ideas were deep or mysterious but her phrasing and quotes and stories lifted them. My favorite was perhaps the last one called "Endless, Glorious Youth," which is introduced by the image of a brilliant field of sunflowers contrasted later in the year with the same field of brown, droopy headed plants heavy with seed. She says, "the process of maturing develops a different kind of beauty, one not so obvious at first." Perhaps this essay moved me the most because I am in that droopy, drab, aging time of life wistfully wishing to look more youthful. Sister Kapp wisely reminds me that "one season must pass if another is to follow."
I love this book because alot of the stories are about the Cardston Temple, which is where I was married in 1976. (My husband and his family are from Southern Alberta.)
It is a beautiful, simple book that will make you love going to the temple more than you already do.
I've always loved Ardeth Kapp and her books. This one is very sweet, and I'm interested because of my current calling. She shared some good insights. It's a very easy read. Each chapter is very short.
This book is very insightful, with wonderful quotes, stories, and analogies to help us understand the blessings of the temple in our lives. I would encourage every Latter-day Saint to read it.
This was a beautiful book that touched me spiritually. It held so many beautiful truths and parables that touched my soul. I recommend this book to ANYONE. Member of the church or not. Its not just about the temple. I learned so many things about myself as well as the temple. It has strengthend my learning and understanding of the temple as well as my desire to go back. I treasure this book.
