Each of these books is about 10 pages, each of which has one picture of one baby. Apparently it’s really common for infants to be fascinated by pictures of faces, and my daughter was no exception. She loved these books. SMILE was the best of them. However, I’m not sure why, when a book only has maybe 50 words, the author can’t keep a steady meter. Or will break it on the very last page!

All 3 of my children's favorite book at the appropriate ages to enjoy this book. I have ordered a lot of baby-face board books over the years because they liked seeing faces, and this one remains the favorite. I think because the kids aren't really doing anything in them (i.e. getting dressed, wearing a hat, clapping, taking a bath, etc) but just really close portraits of their faces.

My 14-week old really dug this. First time she seemed truly interested in the book. I liked it, too. Good reading rhythm. I believe we got this one through OurShelves.

The first book both of my children fell in love with. Nothing makes a baby smile like other babies. Very cute.

My toddler wasn't as engaged in the words, but loved looking at the different baby faces. He would point out features on baby faces and find them on his own face. Very engaging in that regard.

An interesting introduction to some colloquialisms about smiling and laughing with real baby photos to match.

I really liked this book when my son was still a baby. He loved seeing the different babies, and I loved that he was getting exposed to all the different faces.

Now that he's a toddler, I'm a bit ready to move on ;-). The words of the story are very flat, and I've now read "look at the birdie..." a few hundred times.

Since we're very blessed to live in a diverse area, he now has friends who represent all the different ethnicities in this book, and even more. If this wasn't the case, I'd probably be a lot happier to see him still wanting to read it.

To be clear, the 5-star rating is from my 9 month old who loves this book. I didn't know that babies were so fascinated by pictures of other babies! She babbles at it and even seems to prefer some faces over others. It's fast become one of her favorite books.

I'd rate it as a 2 or 3 as the adult reading it aloud, though. There's some rhyming, but not much. No fun noises and no plotline. We'll soon be flipping through it without reading it.

This is the first book my son took out of the library and we've been renewing it since he was 6 months old. This would not have been my first choice- the photos aren't the best quality, the color looks off and most of the similar books we have feature cuter babies. That being said, he really loves this one for whatever reason and continues to enjoy being read to.

Given all the discourse I've encountered recently (thanks, Jessica Jones!) about women/girls being pressured to smile, I very nearly noped out of this at, "Give me a smile / Will you please?" I wasn't really loving the text asking the kid to smile to begin with (I'm reading to you! you don't need to *do* anything!) but that bit really squicked me.

So I don't much care for books like this with just pictures of babies and one or two words in them. They aren't much fun to read. This one is better than most. But the reason I gave it 5 stars is that it never fails to make my 12-month old daughter laugh out loud.

This was a gift from Natalie's doctor office at her four month check up. It is much nicer than our other baby face book. The pictures are big and focus on smiling. The little rhyme that runs throughout the book is cute, too.

My nephew loved this as a very small baby and so did my daughter. One of the first things I remember her really reacting to, these big smiling baby faces could hold her attention a long time. It's not a book that stays in rotation past maybe 8 months, but when it works, it works.

As far as baby faces books go this one's not that great because, of course, it only deals with one emotion. There are other baby face books that I like better

Another fav of Nat's. Babies love looking at other babies, so this whole series of baby faces books by Roberta Grobel Intrater really does appeal to him.
