I belong here with this monster, yet I still long for freedom.
I say that I hate him, but my heart pounds faster when he kisses me.
He breaks me. Spoils me. Taunts me when I’m on my knees before him. His punishments are exquisite pleasures I willingly endure.
Because I crave how he puts me back together again and again.
I’m nothing more than payment for a debt but Kingston treats me as though I am his most precious treasure. He swears that I’m safe, but the treachery of our enemies is subtle and cruel. They will not stop until I am at their mercy and Kingston is dead from a bullet in the back.
But I can ruin those seeking our destruction. I can save us before all is lost. Will love weaken or strengthen us when it matters most?
I’m Ava Bella Blue. A prisoner trapped in a gilded cell of lust and secrets.
Kingston Vaughn Winter is the beast I have fallen in love with.
Crush~Conquer~Protect.
It’s his personal motto but I’ve adopted it for my own now.
His obsession will become our salvation. And I will win this king’s savage heart before this is over.
April enjoys writing both historical and contemporary/dark romance with a generous splash of heat. When not penning tales of passion, she enjoys traveling with her husband, attending rock concerts with friends, and time spent with family. Brainstorming new storylines is best done while riding her horse or during long walks with her German Shepherd. A tumbler of good whiskey helps tie all the details together and brings her characters to life.
I really liked the first book but this one has become very meh. At 35% we get introduced to the hot stewardess in his private plane (with a little love nest in the back, of course). Instead of reassuring the h, he humiliates her in front of the OW, flirting with her and letting the Ow paw at him and be rude to the h… and doubles down by demanding the h get on her knees in front of him after the h attempted to take out the trash, since the hero wasn’t doing anything about it…. Then I skipped ahead and see there’s more OW humiliation coming her way at the heros brothel/sex club… and what does our strong independent fierce heroine do right after these incidences? She masterbates in front of him. 🙄 No.
I typically like Ow drama but these circumstances (her vulnerable situation) and the hero and heroine’s reactions just aren’t for me.

This one was for sure spicy. Kingston is a morally grey hero who eventually will do anything for Ava and yet she is the one being held captive. Ava ends up understanding Kingston and his protectiveness falls for him as well. This one does have some action suspense toward the end in which I couldn't put down. I really enjoyed this duet. I look forward to more from April.
*Duet must be read in order, not a standalone.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) By April Moran 4 Stars
This is a dark romance that may have triggers for some, be warned. To fully enjoy this book, you need to read the first part. This cannot be read as a standalone. The story picks up where the first book ended. Ava is still in captivity but the dynamics of her and King’s relationship are changing. As much as she fights and denies it, Ava is falling for King. She is slowly melting the ice that surrounds his heart which leaves Kingston confused most of the time.
There is more action in this book. There is still a lot of angst, danger and spicy moments. Kingston was very cold and calculating in the first book but he evolved and grew in this one. Because of this, I liked him more than in the first part. He is still an anti hero but he was better. Stupid decisions lead Ava into dangerous situations with a surprising twist towards the end. I enjoyed this book much better than the first.
What a book! April Moran outdid herself ! Kingston 🔥🔥 he is my book boyfriend! And Ava is a beautiful young lady and a tough young lady. This is book two and if you have not read book 1 then please read it first! It’s so good and will help you understand the dynamics of book two. Great character development and dialogue. I wish there was more attention to details. Kingston is your antihero and an amazingly hot alpha! He has Ava as his prisoner but who is really the prisoner? This book has so much action and suspense, and a lot of angst! Parts of this book made me breathless and whoa, The steam in this book is out of this world. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I super loved the way they slowly but surely started to fall in love with each other. Imagine a powerful gorgeous man with so much control falling for Ava! I loved reading that part. It was so beautiful, watching them fall in love with each other it was just magical after all of the violence! This is such a definite must read and a 10 star ⭐️ book.
He falls. She falls… but oh what a fall…kind of like one of this free falls that has you in the edge of your seat and has you questioning everything as you watch to see what is going to happen. This ending was action packed for Ava and Kingston and leads to their Happily Ever After and I’m (finger crossed) hoping to a beginning for Oliver.
Okay, I enjoyed this installment of The Savage Duet much more than the first. You can tell that these characters really grew on the author. While I found the pacing a little off at times, everything seemed to really come together for the second half of the book.
I've waited a long time for this second book in "The Savage Duet" series, and I have to say it was worth the wait! The story picks up where the first book ended...after Kingston saved Ava from one of his henchmen, Malcom. Ava is still trying to find her place in life after the suspicious deaths of her parents. Her freedom and sense of security have been taken away by Kingston who continues to hold her captive at "The Den." In the first book we learned that Ava's horrible brother, Carson, was trying to sell her prized virginity to the highest bidder because he owed Kingston a lot of money that he couldn’t pay. Kingston retaliated by having his brother, Oliver, drug and capture Ava. Kingston was easy to intensely dislike in the first book. Some of his actions toward Ava were absolutely cringe worthy. In "A Heart So Savage" you get more insight into Kingston and Oliver's history with their hideous father and how it impacted their lives and subsequent behavior. I like that you hear more about Kingston’s inner thoughts. He is constantly battling against his strong feelings for Ava. Despite making his own threats against her, he is fiercely determined to protect Ava from Carson and other men who want to do her harm. Because of his history with her parents and brother, Kingston believes he knows everything about Ava and to use this knowledge how to manipulate her. He also knows in his heart that he doesn't want to give her up even if he can take away all the threats against her. Ava feels like she's Kingston's pawn with no control over her own life. Her anxiety about her situation is heart wrenching. She longs for making her own choices and just being normal. At the same time she's confused about her feelings for Kingston and questions her own actions because she rather likes his dominant kinky self. Also, she's unsure if he has any real feelings for her other than his just being possessive. Okay, Kingston is still rather "unhinged" and displays questionable behavior, but you do see him making attempts to make Ava feel happy and secure. The threats against her are real and certain characters read about in the first book, make actual appearances in this book...and they are really awful. When Ava is seriously hurt, Kingston realizes he can no longer deny his feelings and confesses his love and devotion to her, and boy does he grovel! There is a satisfying epilogue, but I would love to read an extended epilogue in the future just to take a peek into the lives of Kingston and Ava. SPOILER ALERT: Throughout both books, Oliver's behavior, if I'm putting a label on it, is psycho scary. Kingston doesn't even want Ava to be alone with him. You really don't know if he is an actual threat to Kingston because he wants to take over his criminal empire. So, I was completely shocked when he's the one who actually saves Ava from her brother and his friends who are assaulting her. He double crosses them because he realizes how much Kingston loves her. It's later explained by Kingston that he goes away to work things out for himself. Hmm, does this mean Ms. Moran will give him his own book in the future? Sometimes romance authors do find a way to redeem "villains" from their previous books. If there is a possibility for a book about Oliver, I’m on board!

Ava Blue continues to be kept hostage by Kingston “King” Winter, in his prison called “The Den”. Ava can’t ignore the fact though that there is this undeniable attraction to King even though she tries to avoid it. Still King fascinates her and even takes her virginity, which makes her crave him all the more. When King takes Ava to New York she really finds out how depraved he truly is by being intimate many more times despite Ava trying to not fall for King in the process. As Ava adjusts to King’s world, she finds out a deep betrayal that could destroy everything she holds dear and will test her. Ava must confront her past including her brother without losing her own life while still trying to remain faithful to King too. Ava finds out though that many people are wanting to destroy her including King. Can Ava’s love for King end up destroying them or being his salvation after all? I really didn’t want to read this second half of the story especially since I didn’t care for the first part as much but when I was offered it, I couldn’t stop the curiousness in reading it anyway. I was mad at King because he just wasn’t a good guy and treated Ava horribly. I know that is just who he is, but I didn’t think he truly could be redeemed. Also, the story did have a lot of darkness which I didn’t mind but if you are looking for a feel-good romance with declarations of undying proclamations of love this isn’t it. The story is dark, the romance is incredibly wicked but if you wanted to walk on the wild ruinous path this is definitely a book worth your time in reading. To me I enjoyed Ava most of all her rebellion and wanting to not fall for King even though it’s hard not to, he’s handsome and rich so I can forgive her for falling for him. As the book progresses to the end King becomes a much better guy and despite his messed-up mind he’s not so bad. That’s why I rated it better than the first because I liked it more than the first part and King might have corrupted good little Ava but inside, she was just as bad as him.
A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran - Review by Jessica Stone
I'm not going to lie I am so happy that I read the first book to this one basically back to back, I don't know how long I could have waited to find out what was going to happen to King and Ava.
This book picks up right after the events of the first book, so if you haven't read book one, stop what you're doing go back and read it first and then come back, honestly you'd miss out on a ton of you tried to read this.
So I'm super into the forced proximity, reluctant relationship these two have. King is DEEP in his feelings for Ava and after everything they've been through it's only fitting that Ava spend the majority of this book questioning basically her sanity for feeling the things she does for him, and loving the way he makes her feel. And let's be honest, we all want to feel like kinky sex goddesses sometimes. King and his resolute feelings for Ava break me a bit, he's gone through a lot, and though we knew he was "intrigued" with Ava, fascinated I guess to see him fall into love with Ava was heart melting.
I love the twists this book throws in with its characters, some from the first book and some new players! But please definitely watch out for trigger warnings going into this book, it gets down to the nitty gritty, lays it all bare but I think that's what makes the story so intriguing. The author isn't afraid to tell the story, and sometimes things can get ugly, but that makes the resolutions so much sweeter.
UHMM! Oliver what??? If you've read the first book, as you should, you'll know what I'm talking about! I was blown away by that wildcard! Super hope we get a book about him and his redemption! I would love to read more like this from the author, dark mafia romance done right. Secretly hoping I can find my own Kingston one day. 🤞🏻
A Heart So Savage, The Savage Duet, April Moran, Review, Itsy Bitsy Book Bits, Dark Romance, Dark, Romance, Jessica Stone, January 2024
Ava is struggling to come to terms with her situation, lock in the fortress of Kingston Winter can't be that bad but when she discovers that her brother has abandoned her and she is not getting out of the gilded castle she starts to drawn to Kingston.
Kingston has always collected things and Ava is no exception to the rule but when he has this compulsion and attraction to her he is more in protection mode and wants her to be his forever. All things are complicated her drives her too the point that although she hates him she can't live without him also.
Can there situation move further into a relationship or is Kingston incapable of being that close to her or have his feelings brought out in the open?
This is the second half to the story and to be honest this is not a book to read independently, you will need to understand the back story to really appreciate this book and the dynamics between the two characters. As the first book the characters open up more and you get to see the true them in this story. Ava although in the first book I thought was strong and sassy shows more in this story and you get to she her strength and the struggles of understanding something is not right but having this obsession with Kingston was great to read.
Kington's character would be classed as an a antihero but as you read more of his thoughts and desires in this story you get to understand him more as you read through the book. The chemistry between these characters is off the chart and will have you turning the pages to find out what happened next.
The story is well constructed and written brilliantly with the passion and chemistry just jumps off the screen. I can't wait to read more books by this author.
A Heart So Savage is the second book (and conclusion to) The Savage Duet by April Moran. As this continues on from where Book One left off, I highly suggest reading ‘A King So Savage’ before starting on this one as otherwise you will be missing important storyline information, as well as character introductions and other relevant details that you will need to know in order to fully appreciate this second book, and the duet as a whole. It is another gripping dark romance that captured my attention right from the very first page. Full of angsty drama, chemistry, steam, emotion, secrets, danger, debts, abduction/captive, family dynamics, agendas, tension, intrigue, and so much more. As we discovered in book #1, when the King is owed money- he will ensure that the debt will be paid, one way or another. Unfortunately for Ava, her brother owed King, big time. And when he doesn’t pay up – she is held accountable. Either her brother pays, or she will. No one messes with the King. Things get more complicated as their chemistry ignites. With other agendas in play, the story took quite a tense turn and as things unfold here- I was reading as quick as I could, flipping pages, just to find out what happens. There were intense, gripping moments, and some frustrating moments where I wanted to shake someone, as well as times when the screen of my Kindle steamed up from all the heat coming off the pages. And I was completely invested, through it all. Definitely worth the read! Intense. Steamy. Dark. Delicious. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Moran does next- it’s bound to be great! Happy Reading…
Kingston and Ava have returned shortly after the events at the end of book 1. Ava continues to fall further into her confusion over her feelings for King. In his own way, he protects her - while he keeps her captive. There's no doubt his "punishments" have taught her some things about her desires and her body. He breaks and rebuilds her time and again, yet she still yearns for freedom. Maybe not freedom from him, but freedom to at least make her own decisions once in awhile. Would she abandon Kingston if given the right opportunity? He has handled some threats against her and is working to solve some more, while keeping her locked up. If he has to handle extra danger to protect Ava and keep her safe, then so be it. But as much as he makes dark decisions, her safety is his main priority.
As you see some seriously terrible decisions being made here, you also get to learn about what King and Oliver had to endure as kids, and what a terrorist their father was within their own homes. It's no wonder they don't do better - they were never shown better, and the abuse they suffered changed them as people. Their father was the REAL monster, terrorizing his wives and children. We also learn throughout the book how King feels about Ava, and battling the actual love he holds for her - until she is seriously injured and King feels the terror of what his life would be like without her. What way will Ava's decision go - is she going to accept King's way and admit her desires, or is she going to get out? Will the Winter family be able to protect her from all of the dangers in her path?
Kingston only returned when Ava was asleep. Ava was afraid of Oliver. She also knew that she was owned by Kingston since Carson refused to pay his debt. Despite his claim over Ava, Kingston didn't have sex with her. He would leave during the day and Ava was allowed free roam of the house with Paulie or Jack following her. One afternoon, Kingston told her to stay in the game room since he was having a meeting with Oliver and other men. That afternoon Kingston took Ava's virginity. Just as he was dressing himself, a call from his guards brings Kingston running. Ava tricks Jack and finds that Detectives from Bitter Springs are at the door. Ignoring Kingston's instructions, Ava eludes her guard and comes downstairs where the two detectives are. Is she going to escape Kingston?
April Moran's second book in the duet, A Heart So Savage continues Ava and Kingston's unorthodox relationship. Every interaction is a struggle between Ava and Kingston. While their attraction grows, Ava still wants the freedom to choose how she lives. Kingston knows she isn't safe without him. If he had told her what was happening up front, she might have been more receptive. But that isn't how the Winter family operates. The ending threw me for a loop. The unpredictable twists build suspense to an intolerable intensity. Involving several steamy scenes and showing the vulnerabilities that both characters try hiding, this is definitely a five star book and duet.
In this book we get to find out the answers to so many questions. Will Oliver truly betray his brother? Will Carson ever get what he really deserves? Will Ava and King figure out they are meant to be together? I am not going to tell you the answers to all those questions, but I will let you find out for yourself as you read.
Here is what I will tell you, Ava realizes that she needs Kingston more than she thought and she wants him. This causes all kinds of internal turmoil for Ava until she believes that he can’t live without her either. When she finally learns to trust Kingston, Ava discovers that other side of him that he doesn’t show anyone. Together, they can be happy.
Kingston keeps his promise to find out who killed Ava’s parents. When Kingston tells Ava the truth, she is devastated. Carson managed to take much more than she thought. When Carson’s current plan to sell Ava and have her declared or found dead so that he can take her part of the inheritance money, Ava plots her revenge.
When Ava escapes Kingston’s security to enact her revenge on Carson, things go a little sideways. Ava didn’t account for the fact that Carson wasn’t alone. Even though she got in a killer stab wound, Carson and his buddies were able to capture Ava. A giant, unexpected monkey-wrench is thrown into the works when Oliver shows up and takes control of the situation. How will Kingston react?
How can she feel safe and treasured yet be a prisoner of his dark world? The second book of the series, Ava Bella Blue is captive of Kingston Winter in his eccentric fortress-like castle. She can't escape and after learning that her brother won't save her and what danger lurks for her outside of his kingdom, decides that Kingston is the lesser of the evils. While she may hate him for what he does to her, she grows to love him and learns that his savage heart can be melted.
April Moran writes a dark yet captivating tale of possession and lust. You need to have read book 1 as this book picks right up where that left off, plus you need to understand why the characters are the way that they are. While I didn't enjoy this book as much as book 1, it still was a thrilling story. Truthfully I thought the middle of the book lagged a bit as it is very much the same things over and over again but yet readers who like reading that sort of thing will love it. I also wasn't thrilled with the ending, I really wanted Ava to somehow outsmart Kingston and win her freedom. But it was still a nice ending for it. And the writing is outstanding, pulling you right into that world and letting you feel what the characters feel. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in The Savage Duet and just wow. I enjoyed this first book in this dark romance and you definately need to read them in order but this book was everything I wished for and more. This is a dark romance with a very dominant dangerous man but what I love is the female lead is incredible. Even though she bends and submits to him she never loses herself completely and she tests her boundaries over and over again.
We are back with Ava and Kingston as they try to navigate their way through their feelings for each other while Kingston trys to protect Ava from everything and everyone wanting to cause her harm. With the truth of what finally happened to Ava's parents out in the open she wants revenge on her brother but by seeking her own revenge is she placing herself in danger. With Kingston already on the war path trying to destroy every man that harmed Ava, he knows he will eventually get to her brother but will Ava trust him to do that or will she be the stubborn person he knows she is and risk everything. And what will happen when their enemies are defeated? When offered her freedom will Ava take it or will she want to remain with the man who has captured her heart as well as her body.
This is a dark romance so some parts maybe a bit of a trigger for some readers. I can't wait to read more from this author.
A Heart So Savage is the duet that goes with A King So Savage, the question is where did we leave off? I actually liked this book better than the first one. Both are very dark but have breaks of light in them. This one definitely has a bit more light. The author pretty much picks up where the previous book left off. Ava’s brother has decided not to pay, sealing her fate. She now belongs to Kingston completely, mind, body, and soul. Which doesn’t sit well with her. He’s a monster that flirts with pleasure and pain. Yet she is confused because she enjoys it. Will she stay or find a way out? Kingston makes it his mission to keep Ava safe. And even though he’s not safe, she’s safest with him. Now that he has his prize, he knows that his brother as well as Ava’s will stop at nothing to destroy him. They don't care that Ava will be a casualty in their wake. One problem he needs to remain the vicious beast of his reputation, but Ava’s changing him. Will his attraction and affection for her be his downfall? As stated at the beginning this is book 2 of a duet. You need to read book 1 first, you will be sorely disappointed if you don’t. I don’t usually like books that have these types of dark themes but these two were pretty good. The author made sure of that.
This is book two to this series and I must tell you that if you are not a fan of violence, dark romance, dubcon, mature langue, sensitive content, adult situations, jealous/possessive themes, and the such then this book is NOT for you! If you can get passed that type of content, then check this dark romance out! This also can't be read as a stand alone. You need to read the first book to fully understand where this one starts and is heading. So Ava is a prisoner. Kidnapped and trapped by Kingston for her brother's debt (2.6 million). Instead of selling her to the highest bidder he has decided to keep her. She belongs to Kingston now and she rebels at almost every turn. Which makes him want to punish her and break her into submission. She craves his touch just as much as he wants to touch her, but the hate is clear in their eyes. He will have her break so he can put her back together again. All while she tries to win his heart so she can escape. Both falling but both don't see the danger rushing towards them. This is a book about a villain and his captive. He always gets his way. But will he this time? Such a great story. I wasn't prepared when I read the first one, but once I started this one I knew what kind of content to expect.
4.5 stars There are warnings for trigger content so make sure to read that before reading this story. A Heart So Savage is the second devilish book in The Savage Duet and just like the first book A King So Savage it is gritty, raw, bloody, and deadly. Some of my favourite things in dark romances and April does it so well. I can’t get enough. It is a captivating dark romance that will set you on fire. The characters are complex and intriguing and make the story. Ava is a prisoner of his twisted mind and world. He is dark intense, dominant, possessive, and an utterly irresistible man. She knows what needs to be done and he just has to let her. King is a dark, violent and sadistic alpha male of the underworld. He is someone you will love to hate and hate to love. He will do anything to protect her in his own twisted way, but she may just be the one that saves them both. It is a captivating romance tale with darkness, possessiveness, obsessiveness, angst, drama, violence, emotions, secrets, danger, secrets, danger, and so much more. This is one duet that you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for more of this genre from April.
This is the second part of The Savage Duet and it does not disappoint. This is a dark romance and has so much steam that I was left fanning myself while reading. It is so, so, so good. If you haven't read the first book in this duo, I highly suggest you do that and then come back to this one. This way you have an amazing understanding as to what is happening. There are many twists and turns in this book. The ending is one that is left to where the author could continue with the story line or leave it as is. I can only hope that we will get more because it was that good. The many decisions that are made by the characters in this book show growth and deep character development. I love when a bad boy can do good things but doesn't loose his edge. I found myself actually somewhat liking a few characters that I haven't liked at all. The ending is what did it for me. This book was masterfully written and will have you turning pages faster than you can read them. You will be sitting on the edge of your seat at some parts of the book and flushing at others. I highly recommend this quick paced read because it will have you riveted from the beginning.
Conclusion of King and Ava ‘s story. After realizing that Ava’s brother is not paying her ransom, King must decide whether to keep her for himself ( and lose a lot of money) or throw her to the wolves. With his half brother waiting for him to make the wrong move and unsure about who to trust, King doesn’t recognize himself anymore for he makes a decision the-King-before-meeting-Ava would never have made. Upon learning her brother is not paying for her freedom, Ava resigns herself to a life in the hands of a monster, at least he’s the lesser evil … or is he? She can’t however resign to the fact that her brother won’t pay for what he did to her and she wants to be the one to collect her revenge in a twisted attempt to regain a resemblance of independence. An interesting and unexpected twist at the end of the book makes me hope for a sequel ( King’s brother maybe?) Like the previous one This book is dark, anguished at times but King’s slow change is proof that even a cruel monster like him can be saved.
A Heart So Savage is the second book in the Savage Duet. If you haven't read A King So Savage, it's a must as this book is not a stand alone.
This book opens shortly after the closing events in A King So Savage. Ava and King continue to swing back and forth in their feelings for one another. The threat of danger for Ava continues, but Ava isn't sure whether that threat is from her brother, or King himself.
This was April Moran's second foray into contemporary dark romance. Kingston was certainly much darker in this outing. Ava even has a thread of darkness herself toward the end. If I had one complaint, their entire story was very regimented and a bit stiff. That said, I enjoy Ms Moran's writing. She has a lovely way with prose. She always opens a chapter with a line of poetry, or lyric that gives the reader a hint of where the chapter will take you.
A Heart So Savage clicks in at a 2.5 for darkness, about the same for spice. It is a little spicier than A King So Savage.
I look forward to more in the dark mafia genre from April Moran.
A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran. This is the second installment in the Savage Duet series and I would highly recommend reading the 1st book before this one. This book picks right up from the first book and is the continuing story of Ava being kept prisoner by Kingston (King). Ava is attracted to King even though she doesn't want to be. King has always collected things and Ava is no exception. He is so attracted to her that he wants to protect her which is unusual for King. I felt like Ava was stronger in the first part of the book and in the second she was more defeated and just accepting her fate. Ava also learns that she can't trust a lot of people that she thought she could including some of her own family. In the second part of the book we also see some of Kings background including he and his brother being abused by their father. Which makes things more understandable in the way he treats people. When King is injured Ava has to make a decision, does she stay or leave. Such a good read!
A heart so savage was a great ending to Ava and Kingston’s story. The conclusion was so good. I couldn’t put the book down. So many questions were answered and there was so much suspense and action. Wow. I want to say, I didn’t see that happening but I kinda did. Just not to that extent. Shocked is an understatement. This boon had it all. It was emotional, hot, and just all together crazy. I love Kingston and Ava and love how Kingston says she was always his from that day he saw her in her parents kitchen. He was like a man obsessed. I’m so glad he did what he did by stealing Ava for Carson’s debt. The last few chapters had me doing crazy. Ava is one head strong girl and is perfect for Kingston. I couldn’t picture him being with anyone else but her. I must say, I might even have a tiny soft spot for Oliver now. Another great read. I’m so glad I was able to read the savage duet. It was pure perfection
Ava is the main character and is “a lost girl searching for a safe place to belong.” Because aren’t we all a little lost, looking for a place to belong? This story certainly hits all the feels. Even Ava is confused by her feelings as the story progresses. I love the way this story develops and how the characters’ feelings shift.
“Hatred and despair had morphed into something else…something savage.”
Kingston doesn’t seem as mean in this story, but we do learn more about his enemies, well Ava’s enemies. It seems Kingston was right about those wanting to hurt her. But it’s the who that adds to the twist of the knife!
Again, this author touches on some subjects that may cause questions within the reader. Anger, fear, repulsion, concern, lust, interest, confusion to name a few. This duet is violent, sexy in a rough way, and being a romantic at heart I can see the hope building for a happily ever after.
This book picks up right where the first book left off at. This book is full of suspense, action, dark romance, twists and turns and more. This first book left us on a bit of a cliffhanger so I was happy to read that this story answered a lot of questions. I still felt like there were times I wanted to yell at Ava for being an idiot but there were also times that I can understand why she acts the way she does. I am pleased to find that Kingston does have a heart after all. It was intriguing to watch Kingston go through so many different emotions while trying to understand his feelings toward Ava. I was completely taken in by these characters and the storyline needing to know what was going to happen next. This author did a great job giving me some unexpected moments in this book. I became invested in the outcome of this story. I look forward to reading more by this author. I recommend this book.
You need to read the first book in this series prior to this one for context!
This book is as dark and twisted as the previous one. Now that Ava and Kingston both know that Ava's brother will not be paying the ransom, decisions must be made. And there are people waiting for them to make the wrong ones. As time passes, and their feelings towards each other seem to be growing stronger, are the decisions they are making the right ones? There is a lot of backstory in this book regarding Kingston and Oliver...and why they are the way they are.
I enjoyed every morsel of this book...the spice, the chaos, the protectiveness, and the darkness. You can feel Ava's anguish about trusting her own feelings...the protectiveness from Kingston...and the craziness of Oliver. I thoroughly enjoyed this duet and am crossing my fingers (and toes) that Oliver will get his own book next!
A Heart so Savage by April Moran is book two in the Savage Duet. I’m going to be honest, when I first started this duet I was taken aback by Kingstons abrasiveness. Obviously that is a part of who he is but even in the leu of that, I grew fond of his character, his loyalty and his protectiveness. As for Ava, she is so much stronger than she knows. And even though she has so much to deal with in this book, she absolutely always comes out on top. The author knows just how to keep you wanting more. I believe this is the first set of books where both characters were “talking” in the same chapter/throughout the entirety of the book. I really liked that narrative and it was easily followed. I’m sad that their story is over but man was it one intense ride and I loved every single second! Would definitely recommend to anyone who has an open mind because it truly was a great duo!
5 Stars A Heart So Savage (The Savage Duet Book 2) by April Moran
A Heart So Savage is the second book in The Savage Duet. This is a Dark Romance that will have you turning the pages till the end. I do highly suggest reading the first book in this duet as this picks up right where book one leaves us. I also want to warn there may ne some triggers in this story but if you can push through them it’s worth trying. I loved everything about this book. It’s raw, loaded with danger, suspense, plenty of steamy sex and so much more. Ava and Kingston these two frustrated me at times but man oh man. He’s claimed her and she’s being held as payment for a huge debt her brother owes him. You guys are in for quite the ride. Hang on tight. I don’t want to give away anything. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
