Sister's of Holmes County is a book about faith hope, love ad being tested in life. d threat
I really liked this trilogy as I do so many of this type of writing in which you find good Christians who are committed to family, community, and faith.
The first book deals with how important honesty is in relationships, particularly in marriages, and how important forgiveness is when someone you love has disappointed you.
The second book deals with moving through loss to find new love and with appreciating parenthood even when it's not achieved according to plan.
The third book deals with the idea that we shouldn't judge others as responsible for our hurts because of personal issues with them, and it also deals with the idea that we need to trust people even if circumstances might speak against them.
Throughout all three books, the family was dealing with serious attacks of vandalism against them, and so, they had to learn to trust God even through painful situations.
I chose this rating because this book was So suspend ful all the way to the end. It was very interesting to see the clues and yet not be able to connect them to any one person. I kept changing my mind about who could be responsible. This is my favorite so far of all the books I've read by Mrs. Brunstetter.
I loved this whole trilogy. This follows the lives of the Hosteller family, and the mystery that surrounds the home of this family. A mysterious fiure is vandalizing the property and making it look as if someone else is the one rresponsible.
Each book in this trilogy follows a different sister, while also trying to solve the mystery of what is going on.
I flet the most heartache for Grace, the oldest sister. She had such a hard time coming back to her family after such a long time. It was great to see her get a happy ending with Cleon.
The one family member that was the most frustrating for me was Roman. He seemed to have a lot of issues with a lot of people in his community. I glad he was able to forgive by the end.
This was a wonderful trilogy by Wanda E. Brunstetter, and ihighl recommend it for anyone a fan of Amish fiction.
When I need a break from heavier literature, I love to read Amish Fiction. The first 2 books in the series I got free from my church rummage sale. I liked them so much I had to purchase Book 3 to complete the story of family, 3 sisters, and a mystery of vandalism and crime with many suspects. It was a light and enjoyable read.
Lovely Amish multi book based on faith, family, finding love and a dark mystery to solve. I really enjoyed reading this book while learning more about the Amish and how the live. I won't give spoilers but I really couldn't figure out who the villain of the series was, who was targeting the family nor why. I definitely recommend reading.
Wanda Brunstetter is one of my favorite authors. I loved the this book. I loved the characters. I love how she writes. The trial, each sister had to face, and learn to forgive, and put faith in God was perfect...
This author has always inspired me and this story of love and forgiveness is no exception. World building teaching of two things needed most in life. Adorable characters and settings made me feel I was right in the story with them.
A three book series by Wanda about the Hostetler sisters in Holmes County. They each have their own struggles to deal with and the attacks on their Amish community. Their Faith is tested. Easy reads and page turners!
I love that these books were put into one book. These sisters face different challenges and you will fall in love with all three. This is a must read book and I highly recommend it. Wanda Brunstetter writes such interesting and faith filled stories.
I barely finished this book, and several times I had to just put it down and walk away out of frustration. I found the whole thing to be shallow and repetitive. This series cannot really be called romance in my opinion because there is no development of feeling; I didn't feel anything for or between the people in the book. For example; I didn't even realize that Grace wanted to marry Cleon for the longest time. There was no development of their relationship, just shallow conversation and so it wasn't until the end that I realized, hey maybe she actually likes this guy. Also, the shallowness of the writing made the characters seem extremely dim-witted. They all just kept repeating the same phrases; I also think that the constant changing of POV made it hard to really relate to or love the characters. So much more could have been done. Disappointing.
Books 1 through 3, make up the set in the Sisters of Holmes County by Wanda Brunstetter. Each book is wonderful and drew me in with its rich Amish story. Author Brunstetter is a master storyteller and I love that her books all contain a Christian message.
Each book builds on the other. There are real life issues tackled in every one such as honesty, forgiveness, judgment, loss, hurting, and new beginnings. Even though it is an Amish community the life lessons hold true for everyone.
The characters are realistic. The writing took me to Amish Country easily. I loved the authentic dialog and the descriptions of daily life. Mostly, I love how they trust God.
I highly recommend this set to anyone. The best part is that you won’t need to wait for the next book in the series because all three are included! It gets a 5 star rating from me.
This was a good series, however it was really 3 books in one, so a very long read. It did keep you guessing with some good twists and turns. I would recommend all three of the Sister's books, but possibly as separates to save ones arms lol. In the end I felt like I was leaving a family behind.
Actually the rating is 3.5 stars. I believe this is the only way to read this series as the mystery is not solved until the end of the last book.
I almost shelved the whole thing while reading book one. Grace just annoyed the stuffing out of me. She came very close to TSTL. That's Too Stupid To Live. She has a secret that would come out eventually. Frets. Moans. Argh!
The ONLY thing that made me skip through quite a bit was the Mystery. And Grace did finally settled down enough that she no longer was aggravating.
The Mystery builds through the books. And the author does keep you guessing.
There was one silly error where words were left out and a comma appears on the middle of a non- word. And a graded down the first book due to the above. But the rest of the serviceable my attention.
