The Drakos Baby #1-2

The Drakos Affair: The Pregnancy Shock / A Stormy Greek Marriage

The Pregnancy Shock

When his PA asked for extended leave, Greek billionaire Alexei Drakos was extremely inconvenienced. He relied on Billie Foster for everything — running his life, even getting rid of his girlfriends. Little did Alexei know that Billie had left to have his baby! In fact, he didn't even remember their passionate night and he had no idea she was pregnant! With Billie gone, there was something missing in Alexei's glittering existence. When she returned, he needed to offer her something special to make her stay — maybe a wedding ring of convenience?

A Stormy Greek Marriage

Billie's wedding day should have been the happiest of her life. She was marrying the father of her baby...her ‘secret ‘baby. But tycoon Alexei Drakos had suffered amnesia, so he had no recollection of the incredible night he'd spent with Billie a year ago...

Tonight he was expecting his new bride to be a virgin...Billie knew that a marriage laced with hidden surprises was not likely to last. If only for their son's sake, she had to convince Alexei of the truth — starting tonight in the honeymoon bed!

Lynne Graham was born on July 30, 1956 of Irish-Scottish parentage. She has livedin Northern Ireland all her life. She grew up in a seaside village with her brother. She learnt to read at the age of 3, and haven't stopped since then.

Lynne first met her husband when she was 14. At 15, she wrote her first book, but it was rejected everywhere. Lynne married after she completed a degree at Edinburgh University. She started writing again when she was at home with her first child. It took several attempts before she sold her first book in 1987 and the delight of seeing that first book for sale in the local newsagents has never been forgotten. Now, there are over 10 million of her books in print worldwide.

Lynne always wanted a large family and has five children. Her eldest and her only natural child is 19 and currently at university. Her other four children, who are every bit as dear to her heart, are adopted. She has two 9-year-olds adopted from Sri Lanka and a 5- and a 3-year-old adopted from Guatemala.

In Lynne's home, there is a rich and diverse cultural mix, which adds a whole extra dimension of interest and discovery to family life. The family lives in a country house surrounded by a woodland garden, which is wonderfully private.

The family has two pets. Thomas, a very large and affectionate black cat, bosses the dog and hunts rabbits. The dog is Daisy, an adorable but not very bright white West Highland terrier, who loves being chased by the cat. At night, dog and cat sleep together in front of the kitchen stove.

Lynne loves gardening, cooking, collects everything from old toys to rock specimens and is crazy about every aspect of Christmas.

Other shelves: womanizer-hero, hero-got-amnesia-in-2nd-book, heroine-is-PA-of the hero, heroine-has-to-see-hero-dating-with-ow, heroine-hides-feelings-for-him, heroine-is-a-dumb, hero-i-want-to-kick-100-times, etc.

A convenient format for reading both books in a romance duology

I checked out this novel in eBook format via Hoopla. I highly recommend doing that rather than purchasing this book, even if you are a diehard LG fan, as I am. (It also seems to be the only way you can access this book in digital format.)

This collection contains both books in the duology called The Drakos Baby, rechristened The Drakos Affair for this edition, which is a convenient way to experience both books. Book 1, The Pregnancy Shock, ends on a cliffhanger, and with this collection, you can move right into Book 2, A Stormy Greek Marriage, with no frustrating delay. Essentially, these two books together constitute one big, 100,000-word, single-title, romance novel.

A whole lot of romance fans have despised the hero, Alexei. He is one of the most arrogant, self-important, high-maintenance, sexually amoral, Alpha heroes LG has ever created. But for me personally, Billie makes this series worth reading for herself alone, because she is utterly unique among LG heroines. For over four years, she maintains a highly successful, highly paid, and highly stressful career as Alexei's incredibly competent, personal assistant--before the night they have the unprotected sex that leads to the conception of her secret baby. The main things Billie shares in common with a typical LG heroine is a codependent relationship with a toxic female relative, in this case her mother, and the existence of a beautiful, persecuting, termagant of an Other Woman in her story.

The sole reason that I read this problematic duology from cover to cover is that I am a big fan of LG. There is always enormous emotional intensity between her romantic protagonists and, as a result, I never skim any of her books, including this one, and I am willing to tolerate weird plot angles from her--like the bizarre plot in this duology--that I wouldn't tolerate from any other romance author.

I'm not a fan, i kept reading it thinking it will get better but I finally gave up at 1/2 way mark. The male character is so stupid and the woman is just spineless who can't stand on her own or do her own decisions.(Amazing PA though). Why do marry someone who is condescending and acts like you are a child.
He himself has had countless women but then expects her to be virgin and will marry her because he thinks she is virgin, rude shock to be had if he realizes that he took the virginity before marriage but forgot all about it. 😂

The story had a good potential, but then it turns out to be really unbelievable, even for a HP...
