“Jon’s stories are wonderful. I would liken them to Jack Kerouac’s, in that his stories want me to seek adventure, damn the danger!” wrote one reviewer.

Hanging out with Jim Morrison, surviving a huge tornado at sea, saving the life of a lone fisherman helpless in a storm…

Whether you are a landlubber or sailor, an armchair adventurer or world traveler, you’ll understand why everyone said he should write a book…

Jonathan mentions me in the book and also wrote about my family. What he said about me was nice enough although a little condescending but his comments about my parents were undeservedly disrespectful. His deeply critical perspective of what it was like to live in South Carolina was offensive. When I called him with congratulations on the book he ended our conversation with ugly remarks simply because I said something that revealed I have conservative political views. He’s an intelligent man with a charming background; he could have and should have done better. And, he owes me an apology.

Truly, this book captures your attention from the first sentence. So well written, you live vicariously through Jonathan's real life adventures. I definitely will be reading all of his books. Highly recommend!

This author is very amateur. There is no flow, stories are dropped then picked up again later. Chapters don't line up. I cannot recommend this book, difficult to follow.

I entered the giveaway for this book because it was immediately intriguing to me as an adventurer. I did not win the giveaway - but I was lucky enough to receive a copy directly from Mr. White, none the less. Thank you so very much Jonathan!!!

I have had the book for 5 days now and I have read it cover to cover twice already. And it won't be tucked into the proper shelf (on 1 of 18 cases)for quite a long time - the stories are that interesting.

Everyone was right - Jonathan White should write many books about his adventures; both on and off the water!

The stories are short, and dance through his travels and time and place - giving the reader the sense that they are on the journey as much as he was. For those with a keen eye there is much advice and knowledge to be gleaned for the readers own adventures in the world. And in a couple cases the advice is spelled out for you, Murphy's Law is cited.

Jonathan, and wife Joell (who is a part of many tales), have led the kind of life many only dream of. Reading this book will push those of us already on adventures to go even further and work even harder to succeed in our own pursuits. For the "dreaming of" reader, these stories will likely settle for you if your adventurous spirit is up to the task. For your sakes I hope it is - because in my own experience - life happens when you don't know what will happen next!

Now if you will excuse me, I must go through my own scrapbook and my children's baby books ... I am truly hoping that the computer print outs contained in them read 'The Birthday Chronicles' - since those are the rightful creation of this wonderful writer. Then I'm off to research some islands to add to my destinations list - in hopes of half the adventure I know lies ahead.

This is a book of short adventure stories. Jonathan certainly has traveled throughout the Atlantic coastal region of the United States and Caribbean. There are also the stories of the UK, Pakistan and other odd places in our world. It's amazing he's still alive with so many close calls to his life on water and land!

My issue is that although they are interesting, fantastic stories, the book is not put together in chronological order. In one story he's married and in North Carolina, the next story is in Pakistan as a hippy in the 70's. So, all these great stories jump around.

For many, this is not an problem, for me it is. I probably will read the sequel, but not right away.

Captain Jon has certainly lead an adventurous and eventful life. Unfortunately the writing is choppy and chapters have no flow. If this book is meant as a bathroom reader - then add one star.

Full of stories!!! The stories were amazing. I would give this 5 stars has the stories been concurrent and advertised as stories. I expected concurrency. Perfect for quick reads.

Fun tales

Mr. White has many adventurous tales from around the world. Some better than others, but all interesting. I will read his sequel for sure.
