This was an interesting read, full of details, quotes, etc. I liked as well that the author was not shy about sharing his simple opinion. I don't think the account was biased towards or against any particular figure, I just like knowing what the author really thinks and then I can decide if I agree or not.
One downside, I feel like the narrative didn't really flesh out until 150 pages or so in, and then it kind of got lost into chaos again for the last 75 or so. I get that history is not a narrative, per se, but the rising action and then catastrophe of the omeyyades was just so much more interesting and more of an arc than the rest of the book.
I would purchase and read a book by Andre Clot again, but I'm not ordering one right now, if that gives you an idea of my overall vibe take on this book.

Très bon panorama de l'histoire de l'Espagne, de l'arrivée des musulmans en 711 jusqu'à la fin de la Reconquista en 1492. Très simple à lire et à comprendre, il offre les grandes étapes sans donner de détails superflus.
De la création de l'Émirat puis du Califat Omeyade de Cordoue en passant par la crise (Fitna) et en allant vers la chutes des royaumes indépendants (taifas), on assoit les enjeux de cette grandes guerres de VIII siècles.

Passionnant même si à certains moments la lecture de toutes ces batailles, altercations, etc devient ardue. Sinon très éclairant

Un livre très complet sur l'histoire des musulmans en Espagne. Des informations très vastes sur la première partie (le califat) et la deuxième partie (almohades et almoravides). Par contre, j'aurai bien aimé plus d'information sur le royaume de Grenade.
Des fois, il parait que l'information se répète ou qu'il n'y a pas un ordre.
Finalement, j'ajouterai un petit vocabulaire et un arbre généalogique sur les omeyades.

It was very nice to read it and see all what happened 6 centuries before in spain, and how it was in Islam ere.
