I have been around the French language all my life and I really have to take issue with some points in the pronunciation scheme in this book. One example is using "oh" for the o sound in "homme." It does not equal the English long o sound as in "home, but is more like the u in "sun," although not exactly. Still, it is closer than "oh." If this book is followed, one might get used to pronouncing "homme" like the word "ohm." Totally inaccurate.

On the positive side, it's basically not a bad vocabulary-building book and I suspect than many would think it sufficient for one who wants to learn just enough French to get by for a visit to a French-speaking country. Just be aware that you might want to use another source for French pronunciation if you are serious about learning authentic French pronunciation, such as "Pronounce It Perfectly in French," published by Barron's.
