Beauty really is an inside job. How many of us stop to consider that our outer layer is merely a reflection of inner processes, completely reliant on the health of the 50 trillion cells that you are made of? And the health of those cells is impacted by everything from the food you eat, the nutrients present or missing from your blood, and the hormones and messages your body makes based on whether your thoughts are fearful or loving. Think about that…
As a society, our relationship with beauty is in crisis. We are told that beauty exists only in certain forms, images, and at certain ages. We can feel bombarded with images that lead us away from our own unique beauty and encourage us to try to look like someone else rather than become and accept more of who we are. While adults can be affected by such messages, these messages can be particularly damaging to children and teenagers who so desperately want to be loved, approved of, considered special, and seen as beautiful. There is so much beauty on offer to us 24/7, at any age, inside us, around us, and shining from us. For so many, a veil just needs to be lifted so you can experience your own radiance. Let’s see what we can do!
When most people think about improving their appearance, they usually focus on a product, another “quick fix”. Yet when you consider that the skin cells on your face are a small percentage of the total number of cells in the whole body, it seems crazy that we don’t spend more time getting the majority of the cells functioning optimally, leading us to the outcomes we seek.
Through Beauty From The Inside Out, Dr Libby expertly explains your outer world, the food you choose, the nutrients you ingest, hydration, posture, movement and what your body needs to create lovely nails, lustrous hair, sparkling eyes, and clear, luminous skin. Be guided to deal with very specific bumps in the road, such as dark circles under the eyes, eczema, pimples, and hair that is falling out, just to name a few. Just as importantly, Dr Libby explains your inner world, sex hormones, stress hormones, detox, digestion, elimination pathways, thyroid and pituitary functions. Both worlds relate to your sparkle and by taking a heart-opening look at your emotional landscape, many find that that is where the real elixir is.
Beauty From The Inside Out is a must-have beauty bible for all women. Enjoy radiating your own unique sparkle, from the inside out.
This is an excellent book that can help women live healthier lives. It hones in on individual issues like acne and irritable bowel and recommends solutions.
The most important things I took away from this book are: Caffeine is not healthy Eat more broccoli and other vegetables Breathe deeply and regularly
This book also goes into detail about nutrients and the positives of different vegetables etc. the only thing I would criticise is that the author does repeat herself about some things a few times.
Dr Libby is a leading nutritional biochemist, and is fast becoming a New Zealand household name. Beauty From the Inside Out is the latest book from this Sydney based health guru, and is a must for women seeking an holistic approach to their wellbeing.
Beauty From the Inside Out takes a thorough look at our health as it impacts on beauty and ageing. Dr Libby takes us through the many facets of optimal body functioning, guiding us towards the lifestyle changes needed to achieve better health and vitality, one (marvelous) benefit of which is improved appearance. The role that food, nutrients and water play in physical appearance are uncovered; the function of hormones and stress in beauty are explored; the importance of sleep and keeping mobile is explained; even the impact of thoughts on our outward “shine” is considered. No stone is left unturned on the path to discovering how to get the most out of the (only) body you have.
This is the first of Dr Libby’s books I have read, and it was a pleasure. I am a big promoter of taking the holistic approach to health, and Beauty From the Inside Out offers a wealth of information on exactly that. I am accustomed to reading quite technical, textbook style health books, so I found Dr Libby’s no-nonsense, easy to read approach incredibly refreshing – and the very thing that makes this book accessible to everyone, no matter what your background. Better yet, she manages to explain quite simply the complex intricacies of anatomy and physiology without “dumbing down.”
Dr Libby is highly skilled at educating people about their bodies, and passionate about sharing her knowledge with the public, giving them both the tools and impetus for change. Beauty From the Inside Out is a book filled with these tools, and with all the necessary information for readers to get in touch with themselves, their bodies, and their needs. This is a common sense, in-depth-but-easy-to-follow book, suitable to read from start to finish, or to pick up and choose sections of particular interest. Beauty From the Inside Out, in my humble opinion, should be the new beauty bible for women everywhere.
There is a lot of reading in this and at some points I was hoping for it to be more short and snappy to the point. However, when you get to the Solutions Chapter which is the overall summary and lists of suggestions she begins it by saying you could just skip the rest of the book and head straight to the chapter but the point is you are more likely to take things on board and more permanently if you understand why. I have always considered myself to be quite healthy and I already knew a lot of the stuff she was suggesting but now I am clearer as to why. I've definitely taken a few pointers from the book.
Enjoyed this but like all her books wish she had a quick summary of her advice at the end as so many things to remember its hard to know where to start
Really enjoyable book, talks about nourishing all the cells of your body in order to create radiance and beauty, rather than just the outer layers of your skin.
Lots of wafty and detailed information without a real plan as to how to put the knowledge into practise. A much better book to read is The Good Skin Diet.
