Favorite Lines “Lidia.”
He said my name so simply, so familiarly, I couldn’t help but stop and for endless seconds,
consider, wonder.”

“You belong wherever you want to be, Lidia. You can do whatever you want to do. The
choice is and always will be yours.”

“Wherever there’s good, bad will always follow,”

“I told you before, Lidia, you are a part of me. An integral part that if torn away would leave
me for dead. You are my soul, my heart, my air.”

“You are my companheiro, ” was my reply. Putting my hands to his shoulders, grasping his
strength, feeling the warmth of his skin. “You have been my best friend all my life, you’ve been my champion, my greatest supporter. I love you.”

“Wherever you are is where I want to be, now and forever,”

Sigh..... How have I not read this author before! Meant for me was fabulous! Part of me is spectacular!
They are kinda short but I think that's be being greedy and wanting more,
These Shadow Hunters are just..... YUMMY! Brayden and Lidia grew up together and he has known she was his mate for just as long. Lidia on the other hand is running! Running from a crazy uncle, her past, her future, and her fear. She's terrified to becaome like her uncle but what she doesn't understand is Brayden is her future, he can help fight her fears, and he is her companheiro! That's another great thing about this series! I love the language and those yummy men speaking them! I can't wait to get the next brothers story! Oh yes can't wait!

I loved this installment of this series, Brayden is something else, "I've gotta do this," he said, his face steadily inching closer to mine. "I'm gonna die right now if I don't taste you." There were a few times the boy was an a**, "Lidia's an old friend," he was saying as Kyra's big brown eyes stared up at him in question. "And Kyra's a new friend," he told me with half a smile." The boy gets off on some weird things, "Lidia looked like she was ready to rip Kyra's eyes out. I never figure that would be such an arousing sight, but damn, I was hard just remembering the scene." Lidia ain't no pushover though that girl has balls, "she wanted to make it clear that you belonged to her. I wanted to make it clear that my name is Lidia, no bit**." I finished with a shrug then moved around both of them to walk out the door." Brayden is the type of guy who doesn't like being interrupted when him and his girl are getting ready to do the naughty, "and then there was a knock at the door. "Ignore it! I don't know anybody I want to see right now," Brayden said, pressing his rigid erection against me while his fingers continued their in and out torture." Can't wait to see whose up next.

Brayden and Lidia's story is DEFINITELY my favorite in this Damaged Hearts series of the Shadow Shifters...I love Brayden's confidence that he knew Lidia was his mate and no one could tell him differently...not even her...yet despite his knowledge he allowed her to live her life as she desired...and just followed her around to ALWAYS be there to protect and encourage her...I like that they'd known each other for a long time and the romance wasn't RUSHED or forced...as much as Bray wanted Lidia...he didn't want to force her to accept the inevitable...he wanted her to realize it all on her own...another GOOD read by Mrs. Arthur...looking forward to reading more about Jace and the other Shadow Shifters...soon I HOPE!!

Brayden knows that Lidia Morales is his mate, but when he finally acts on his feelings for her she rejects him. His one concern is letting Lidia have the time to come to terms with her feelings for Brayden, but after some distance they find themselves back to square one. With outside dangers, Brayden makes a decision and it is time for complete honesty when it comes to Lidia, will she be able to handle the truth though?

The second book in the Damaged Hearts series. I felt for Brayden, he doesn't want anyone but Lidia but she is intent on pushing him away. Story was completely different then the first book and you learn more about who Brayden is. Very exciting series.

They grew up together. They were best friends. They were mates. They were shifters but life was not easy. The female character wanted to be human and wanted to ignore the mating call. I felt like her strength and independence were also her weakness. And I liked how the male character gave her space to grow and experience life, always waiting in the background to scoop in and protect her when needed. To me, this book highlights that denying one's self doesn't make you strong, but your strength is enhanced when one accepts the truth of who you are and integrates who you would like to be into that foundation.

This is the second instalment of the Damaged Hearts series and we get to meet Brayden the second brother in the Sanchez family. The Sanchez family are part of a race of Shadow Shifters whose innermost cats fight to come out to play but these strong brothers are large and in control but sometimes life throws a curve ball!
Lidia has spent most of her life protected by the Sanchez family as they took her in when her mother died and her father just walked away. She's always been treated as one of the family but what Brayden feels for her is not brotherly in any way! He believes that she's his mate but he's a patient guy and in it for the long hurl but giving Lidia freedom is pure torture for him and unfortunately about to put them both in danger.
I wasn't sure about this series when I read the previous book Mine To Claim as it's clearly aimed at young adults and a coming of age tale can often be a little too juvenile for my tastes. Happily in this book Brayden comes across as a more mature guy who is confident of himself and in his own abilities and it makes him a much more appealing hero. I thought he was written as a sensitive guy considering just how passionate his nature and urges are and applauded his willingness to give Lidia time and space when she needed it.
Lidia is quite a complicated and conflicted character . She's had the worse possible start in life and is truly traumatised by it. There's a war brewing and her family are slap bang in the middle of it. She's trying so hard to subjugate her shifter nature and appear human and have what she perceives as a normal life. The Rogues are definitely starting to take centre stage in this series and it's interesting to see just how this storyline will progress as every good story is improved by a protagonist . I enjoyed reading more action scenes in this book but happily it's offset by passion from the two main characters . The world building is starting to come into it's own now and I'm curious as to how this will play out. Surely a head on collision is inevitable and I know which side I will be routing for!
It's an ideal book if you enjoy stories about teenagers and first loves but there is strong emotional content here so it's not to be sneered at. Much more of a paranormal element than the first book which made it feel more complete and a sensual romance that appeals to my own romantic streak. If you are looking for a paranormal story to bridge the gap between young adult and the more graphic paranormals available then this series could well fit the bill. This storyline is getting interesting now and I can't wait to read what happens next.

After Aidan, it's the turn of Brayden to have to cope with the feelings to be in love and to deal with a recalcitrant soul-sister. In Part of Me, it's to the second brother of the Sanchez's family to make his appearance and the beautiful Lidia will show some hells to him. Common past, paria among her people, will to protect their clan, to be a true Shadow Shifter and especially the pangs of passion when two companheiros meet, the couple knew all of this and will not come out from it unscathed.

Lidia is completely different from Grace, she is a Shadow Shifter, confident, know what she wants, she have an objective to reach. And yet her world will crumble when Bray decides to change their relationship. She is an intelligent young woman, passionate, just, but she denies her true nature too much, which is not a good thing. She is able to call herself in question, which is really positive and advances the things. What I appreciated, it's her complicated past, tortured which worked her and allows her in a certain way of seeing the things differently than others.

Brayden is for the moment my favorite of the Sanchez's brothers, I love his personality hot as hell, he never gives up. He is Shadow Shifter in all his splendour, full of himself, about his physique, about his feelings, which doesn't prevented him to be stupid per moment, especially in some of his choices. It's amusing to see that he make errors similar to those of Aidan, despite everything, despite the hints. He's possessive, dominating, his wild side is really tempting and we understand why the young ladies are in love with him.

This time we learns some new things about the Rogues and the point of view of Lidia is essential for that. The differences that exist between the human society and that of the shifters are well seen. In parallel, the love is obvious and burning hot between the couple, the feelings of Bray so powerful and pure. The action mixed with the sexy scenes gives a good rhythm to the book, which we reads on a draft without really realizing it. Once again, I would reproach that the nowel is too short, that we have the feeling that it missing something…

A good book of romance paranormal, but also an excellent New-Adult with the described emotions. I obviously recommend this second volume of Damaged Hearts and I'm in hurry now to read the next book! Especially that Caleb intrigues me with the little of things that we know about him.

Part of Me is the second novella in the Damaged Hearts series. Just as Aidan rebelled against being a Shadow Shifter in book one, Lidia does the same in book two but for an entirely different reason – she wants to shed her shifter life and live as a human so that she no longer feels judged because of her uncle’s actions and her parents’ desertion. Because of this, she fights her instincts and the draw of her mate, insisting that her feelings are limited to that of siblings as the Sanchez family took her in after she was orphaned. With all that she has endured, it is hard as a reader not to feel sympathy and admiration for Lidia as she tries so hard to prove that she is not the same as her uncle and that their shared blood will not send her on the same path … that of a rogue shifter.

As Lidia fights her heritage, Brayden Sanchez fights his inner cat as he is determined to give Lidia the space and time she thinks she needs, time until she admits that they are mates and they will be joined as Shadow Shifters to take their place in the ever-looming war with the rogues. Of course, you can’t help but like Brayden. He’s trying so hard to fight his animal instinct in order to do what his mate is convinced she needs to do even though he thinks she’s fighting a losing battle. When Brayden begins to question whether Lidia will actually return to take her place as a Shadow Shifter with the tribe, he contemplates whether he can return to the tribe without her OR if he too will turn his back on their tribe in order to remain with his mate – even as she continues to refuse to acknowledge they are mates.

Brayden is a nice guy who finds himself between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Will he choose his mate or his tribe? You’ll have to read Part of Me to find out. As with Mine to Claim the story is focused more on the relationship and less on the sexual interactions despite the couple’s obvious chemistry, and yet again, you don’t feel short-changed. Ms. Arthur has given her readers another well-written installment in her Damaged Hearts series and I am looking forward to the next novella in the series, Hunger for You.

I liked Lidia. She's smart and practical and stubborn. She's also complicated girl. She wants a normal life, she wants to be best friends with Brayden - not more:

"...I rolled my eyes and sighed inwardly because I knew I was being unreasonable. Being upset with Brayden because he'd been right all along was petty. Being upset with my DNA was even more pointless. But dammit, I wanted to be upset! I didn't want to have a mate and I especially didn't want that mate to be Brayden." (ebook, location 1321)

I understood Lidia's desire for a normal life - a horrific past, the way she was treated by others of her kind, I wouldn't be raising my hand volunteering to risk my life on their behalf either. And then there's her fear that she will hurt the people she loves.

Her reticence when it came to changing her relationship with Brayden was both understandable - all that baggage the girl has and she risks losing her best friend - and frustrating because Brayden is an amazing guy. He's a guy you can count on, will support you and defend you, and they have great chemistry. He knows what he wants and he's willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

"I wish I could have it all," she whispered.

I moved then, turning Lidia until she lay on her back and I could look down into her face. I cupped her chin so she couldn't look away. "I only wish I could have you." (ebook, location 1420)

Part of Me was exciting, fast paced, with loveable characters and a romance years in the making. I've enjoyed this series very much and can't wait to read the next book in the series, Hunger For You.

This was a great quick read as the second installment to the Damaged Heart series continues with Brayden and Lidia’s story. I came into this series not reading the first, but I have to say I wasn’t as confused as I thought I’d be, however now I’m more intrigued to read the first because I have to know some answers. Plus I want to know more about Aidan and Grace, if Brayden and Lidia’s story was intense, I’m hoping for a great story with the other couple.

Since this was such a short story, I won’t get into too much detail. But this was an awesome introduction to an exciting new shifter series. Lidia was a unique female lead, she has such determination to be normal, and her family’s past is what’s affecting her the most. But she always has had her best friend Brayden, and now with everything that’s changed, she is pushing him away.

With Brayden, I felt so sorry for him, he doesn’t want to give up on her and after telling her everything it changed their relationship. She is his mate, but Lidia only wants “normal”. I loved the tension and chemistry between the two; it was hard reading about Brayden’s struggle with his mate. I feel overall Brayden’s character was my favorite because of what he has to go through, from love, sadness, and the possibility of loosing his mate and best friend.

I definitely will be continuing this series and can’t wait to read the first one. If you are new like I am to this series, I highly recommend reading the first one since I was a bit confused with some points of the story.

Part of Me is the second book in the Shadow Shifters: Damaged Hearts series by A.C Arthur. I’ve given her two paws up for this emotional ride. A.C definitely ratcheted up the heartache and sexual tension for this novella.

Lidia has always felt she was on the outside looking in, never good enough. Due to her family's past, she doesn’t feel worthy. But, the one constant thing in her life has been Brayden. Her best-friend, confidant and savior. One day everything changes and Lidia has to fight her family's past as well as for her normal future, as normal as she could be of course. But Brayden won’t let her go without a fight.

Brayden can’t look at Lidia as just a friend anymore. A searing kiss has been imprinted on his mind and he won’t let her forget it. His inner animal calls out for her, hungering, yearning, raging at him to take her as his but he can’t. He refuses to break her and until she can come to terms with herself and their future, he won’t stand a chance against her determination for normalcy.

Brayden and Lidia’s story may be my favorite thus far. I was hooked from the beginning and getting into Brayden’s head offers readers to feel the need he has. A hunger that rages through him, desperation, sadness, turmoil at his mate running away from him. If you liked Mine to Claim (Aidan and Grace’s Story) you will not want to miss Part of Me.

When everything seemed to go wrong for Lidia, the one thing that was the constant good in her life was her best friend Brayden. After a heated kiss Lidia knew things would change but she refuses to let her attraction for her best friend changer her course of wanting a normal life as a teacher. Should she be with him then she knows that she'll end up being tied to being a shapeshifter and all the responsibility that goes with it. All she wants is the choice to be herself.

I really enjoyed this short little steamy book. I loved the connection between Lidia and Brayden. I liked that I got to see a bit more into their shapeshifter type of world but wish I knew more about it. The characters were interesting and I loved that there was more then one point of view so I got to understand where they were coming from in the choices that they make. I loved that there was enough drama and action to keep me interested and that it was fast paced. This short story really packs a punch and I highly recommend you lovely readers to check it out.

Part of Me was an interesting spin on the whole shifter concept. The fact that it focused on one type of shifting "clan" made it easy to follow along and not overly confusing like other books I've read. I love first person and dual POVs is even better. This book did it right. You weren't getting the same scene play by play from each POV, so the story flowed smoothly and didn't drag on.

I'm going to be honest and tell you that Lidia could've ruined this for me. I found her to be annoying, self-centered, and too indecisive. Her toying with Brayden grated on my nerves, I just wanted her to make up her mind and be nicer to him.

Brayden saved the day. His love for Lidia had me baffled at times, but it was endearing to watch him fight for her.

This book is not very long so I was able to devour it in a sitting. There were parts of the book that seemed irrelevant to the story and simply took away from other parts that could've been developed a bit more, but overall it was enjoyable.

Lidia Morales and Brayden Sanchez (Aiden’s brother) grew up together and normally had a brother/sister type relationship,..until he kissed her while they were studying for finals in their junior year of college. Although it was an amazing kiss, Lidia knows that being with Brayden romantically could take away her chance at the normal life she desires. Her fear of becoming a rogue Shifter, like her uncle, and betraying her tribe fuels her plan to nip this attraction in the bud.

However, there’s danger nearby as the rogues are getting stronger and fighting it just may bring them together and reconcile Lidia’s feelings about her Shifter role. I believe this is the first time that a male Shifter didn’t put up a fight when he discovered who his companheiro, or life mate, was. Brayden made peace with it and worked hard to convince Lidia of it.

This is a short novella that hinted at a longer series I clearly don't know about. You don't get much world-building in it, in part because of its short format, but also because it may have been explained somewhere else.
Unfortunately, this left me with quite some confusions on the reasons why the heroine is so worried about her fate of a maybe-rogue.

It's clearly a NA series, where you'll get a YA theme (the pains of growing) but with sexual overtones in it. Still, you are dealing with a 20 yo couple wondering what to do with its life. It wasn't strong enough or interesting enough to catch my attention, and it was one of the few times I was actually happy it was short. (I still skipped some paragraph.) My tastes, of course, not the author's fault.

Lidia and Brayden have grown up together. Brayden has always known Lidia was his mate , his companheiro. He understands her and has always been there for her. Lidia is trying to deny her true self. She doesn't want to be part of that world, or to become a rogue like her uncle. She constantly fights her desire for Brayden, and Brayden doesn't give up, he can't. I loved him. His feelings for Lidia were so intense and he was very protective of her. There is plenty of heat between them, though sex is hinted at, rather than being graphically described.

This is the second book in the series, and I think I needed to have read the first book to understand more about who the Rogues were and what they wanted.

Part Of Me, the second book in the Shadow Shifter's Damaged Heart Series by A.C. Arthur was fantastic.

Lidia Morales and Brayden Sanchez grew up together. As they matured, so did their love. Lidia did not want to date Brayden because he reminded her where she came from. Lidia wanted to have a normal lifestyle outside of the shifter world.

Brayden knew what he was destined to do in life, his only problem was convincing Lidia that they belong together.

In this book A.C. gives us two shifters who are alike but in a different mindset in which direction their lives are going. I am truly enjoying getting to know the Sanchez Brothers.

Another great read to add to your paranormal romance collection.

I felt like I was missing something throughout the story. I did not read them in order, but the book seemed rushed and so I thought I was missing something. I am going to read the first one tonight and it might clear up some stuff. I think I needed 2 - 5 more pages of world building to make the book seem complete.

Overall, the writing style was good, there was one editing issue that confused me. I think she meant Astronomy and not Astrology. The author seems to have a good style and way with words that makes me feel like a full novel might have been a solid 4 or 5 stars. I am going to continue to read her stories.

3.5 Hearts This is the second in the series and while sweet just like in the first book I felt it is more for the YA. That being said it is still a fine read even for an old person like me. There is very little paranormal in this story even though both are shifters. Being a short read it is nice to have between longer novels just be ready for the feeling that you are watching a couple of 20 year olds deal with life.

I guess there are reasons why a series is called a series; meaning they should be read in order. I guess I should have read the first book to help my confusion. But really, even if I read the first book, I feel like this book would still be lackluster in my mind. Nothing held my interest in this novella.

I, unfortunately, did not connect with the main characters or felt passion once while reading. So I am sad to say that this book wasn’t my cup of tea.

I felt that this 2nd addition to the series was a major improvement in writing style to the 1st novella, and felt more like the original Shadow Shifter series, except in a NA tongue. I enjoyed the tale and the inner conflict that occurs between the characters in this glimpse of a family drama in the larger unit of Shifters.

Man, this was bad... I knew there was a reason I hate New Adult stories and this right here is a perfect example. The writing isn't bad, but the story is so filled with teenage angst that I wanted to scratch my eyes out. Sorry, not my cup of tea.
