I really like this particular adaptation and the illustrations, especially for 21st century kids, but any edition you can find is worth reading. I grew up with the story of the Fisherman and his harridan wife and the magic fish, but this is better because the character does it all to herself.
"This throne is too hard and the crown is too heavy. And the wind blows down the back of my neck. Why can't I get a home to suit me?"
Similar to the story of the Magic Fish, the woman complains about her living conditions in the bottle and a magic Fairy grants her wishes continually until the fairy realizes that the woman will never be happy and she is returned to her bottle in the end.
the illustrations were colorful, an looked like colored pencil drawings, but I didn't particularly care for them.
