The Temple of the Blind #5

Secret of the Labyrinth

Rate this book
What secrets lie hidden beyond the City of the Blind?

Far beneath the streets of Briar Hills lies an enormous temple of stone. Ancient secrets are buried within its walls…along with countless and unspeakable horrors. Now the time has come for the temple to finally fulfill its awesome purpose.

…and it all began with a wooden box…

Urged onward by the mysterious Sentinel Queen, Albert, Brandy and Nicole venture ever deeper into the Temple of the Blind…and into the greatest danger they have yet faced. Before them stands the labyrinth. Endless miles of twisting passageways and perilous chambers stand between them and the exit, and with Albert’s box of clues finally exhausted, they will have to navigate the dark corridors all but blind. But can they find their way out before it is too late? Time is ticking as a dangerous beast stalks them with murderous intent.

Meanwhile, Wayne has escaped with Olivia from the vast, corpse-infested forest known as the Wood and is now determined to return to the friends he left behind. Though he is hours behind them, he must somehow catch up and warn them that all may not be as it seems. With Olivia at his side and their new friend, Andrea, along for the trip, he sets out once more on the long, hard journey back to the City of the Blind, hoping he can find them before it is too late.

As the morning approaches, decisions will have to be made. Someone is lying to them. Is it the mysterious old man who aided Wayne in his search for Olivia? Or is it the motherly Sentinel Queen? Together, the six of them must decide who to trust. The very fate of the world may hinge on the actions they choose to take.

My favorite book in the series by far. Simply an amazing read. I'm not the type to get emotionally attached to fictional characters, but after spending 5 books with this group I have to admit that I got choked up when we lost a certain character, since this individual was my personal favorite.

This is a phenomal book in a phenomenal series. I only have one more left in this series and I'm excited to see how it all ends.

While I've really enjoyed this series in general, the constant depiction of how amazing various women's breasts are is starting to grate. I mean, everybody's naked, but we've only had one vague description of the dudes penises, but lots of breast ogling. And Brandy's internal monolog about her past sexual exploits, and how 'giving herself' to her two previous boyfriends even though she didn't really live them made her a 'slut' - what?! That says a lot about the author's view of sex right there...

Wow, what an amazing journey! The mystery continues as we follow the characters into the horrific world of the labyrinth, its passageways, creatures and shadows.

I cannot say too much as I don't give spoilers, but this part of the series will keep you hooked, heart racing until the end.

Highly recommended.

It's rather disconcerting how liberally the author uses the word "slut" to describe women and their actions. In this book, it was especially worse than usual. Sure, Harmon goes on about much the women are 'respected' despite being naked, but as soon as sex is involved, "slut" starts popping up several times a page, over and over throughout the books. Not sure where this juvenile mind-set of his comes from, but it makes it rather hard to take him seriously as an author. That, and all the deus ex machina that was even more pervasive than usual in this story..

I freAking love this series

His imaginative story in this series goes beyond anything I've ever read. The characters are captivating along with the plot. I was unable to set the books down let alone not buy the next book. Highly recommended.

Yet another AMAZING book..

I believe only one is left, and I'm certain it will leave me longing for more. For more of the characters I've come to know, love and expect. More of the haunting labyrinth of the Sentinels or perhaps the next world they should soon meet. More of the secrets that lie ahead...But no more Wayne, or is there? If I've learned anything, it's that I really know nothing that's to come. I can only hope the end of the story doesn't mean the end of their journey.

Another brilliant book. It is the fifth book of the series and each one has been as good as the last.
By now all the characters are known to you and you find yourself willing them on through the horrors that they all face.
A really good book with a heartbreaking ending that actually brought tears to my eyes.
