Life has been far from easy for Nicolette Dorsey. Poor life choices have taken her down roads she never intended to travel. Still, she has one undeniable blessing -- her daughter, Willa -- and two sometimes blessings: her sisters Collier and Petie. But Nic has to make a decision ... one that she's sure her sisters aren't going to like. Not one little bit.But when Nic and her sisters return to Persuasion, Alabama, for their annual Christmas celebration, Nic's decision isn't the only surprise waiting for them. Their eccentric aunts have rented a room in the family home to the town's returned prodigal son, Sam Moss -- who also happens to be Persuasion's new minister. The one man Nic hoped to never see again. Before the holiday is over, the Dorsey sisters will have their secrets revealed, their motivations uncovered, and their faith ignited!
Setting: Persuasion (small town) Alabama A bit wordy .. but warm family relationships and Christian love shine through this tale. Willa is a special needs child (8 years old) and a stand out character. Her mother Nic, short for Nicolette, is the female protagonist. There is lots of Christmas in here too .. so very appropriate for this December of 2024 :).
This was a wonderful story about redemption, forgiveness, and second chances. although a bit predictable. i really enjoyed it as it illustrated basic truths in a straightforward way. It is a great holiday (or any time) read.
3.5 It was an okay read but I thought parts of the book sort of drug on unnecessarily. I liked the town coming out for the tree in the church and I liked the sermon at the end of the book. those were the best parts of the book. I really liked the character of Sam and of course I loved Willa. Nicolette had me on and off the fence as did the other two sisters. This won't be a keeper but at least I finished it.
