Do you or someone you know have cancer. This little book really helps bring hope and understanding to this crazy road for you and your loved one. The short chapters are great if you are battling with chemo brain or fatigue. They share great stories of hope and a constant focus on God. It was nice to see some of my hopes and fears and struggles come alive on the page and be able to relate to the other cancer survivors. Thanks Lyn.
My brother read this throughout his cancer journey. He gave it to me when he was finished and made me promise to read it. When he passed 9/20/24 I decided to give jt a try. It was hard. But I did it. I cried a lot. Grief is a funny thing. I miss him so very very very much. This is the first book I’ve completed since his passing.
Outstanding book offering hope & inspiration for cancer patients, along with their families and friends after a recent diagnosis. This book has been a blessing to my family during a very difficult and scary time.
This little book was sent to me when cancer entered my life by another friend who was fighting her own battle with cancer. Some mornings it was a godsend and some mornings it was just hard to find hope. I highly recommend this little gem for any one fighting cancer. It is a glimmer of hope
50 Days of Hope - if you, a family member, or a friend are currently battling cancer, this beautiful devotion is filled with hope and love. It lets you know you are not alone in this journey and that God is with you every step of the way. 5 stars!
Some good, some bad, some ugly. I’m thankful for it because it was a gift and came at the right time. But there are better books such as Jerry Bridges.
Lynn Eib is not only an author, she is a wife and mother, patient advocate in an oncology office, the facilitator of a Cancer Prayer Support Group she started in 1991, and a cancer survivor. In this small book she offers emotional and spiritual support, encouragement, and hope to newly diagnosed cancer patients and the family and friends who care for them.
As cancer and its treatments often cause physical bodies to become weakened it can also weaken the spirit. Supplements may be needed to supply nourishment for the body and inspiring words from people who have “been there done that” can shore up sagging spirits.
The daily readings are short, often humorous, offering God’s encouragement through inspiring stories of real people living with cancer. Eib shares stories of her own journey with cancer and the journeys of other cancer survivors; a cancer survivor is anyone with cancer, from day of diagnosis and for the rest of his/her life. Each day there is a story of a survivor, their family or friends, most days a scripture, and always a prayer.
At the back of the book there is a section with scripture references about things like fear, worry, peace. It is not an exhaustive reference but it is encouraging and helpful in finding comfort.
Though this is written specifically for cancer survivors and those who love them it could certainly be helpful to someone facing a difficult diagnosis of any kind. The book is small and has an attractive green leather-like cover and is comfortable in the hand. The only down-side is the print is small and the ink green. It was not difficult for me to read but might be for someone with any vision impairment.
50 Days Of Hope would be a thoughtful gift not only for cancer survivors but for anyone with a serious or chronic health challenge.

Author Lynn Eib weaves stories of hope and inspiration gleaned from meeting many diagnosed with cancer and those in her cancer prayer support group in this book. Her own cancer survival story and insight are also included. All this is done in a truly loving and compassionate way everyone can appreciate.
Each devotion concludes with a scripture and a prayer which is extremely welcome. There is no shaming, blaming or anger represented within the pages of this devotional. A reader will find love, hope, joy and caring within.
There were a couple technical features I disliked. One is the use of green ink throughout. I realize green is calming and a great cover color. But it is not the most enjoyable text color for an entire book. I would have also liked each new devotional to start at the top of a page rather than run together. At times this little book made me feel constricted. Breathing room is relaxing. More so to me than green print.
There are not many good things out there to hand a person who has been given a bad diagnosis but this little devotional is a gem. It would also be useful as a common text for a cancer support small group. It probably won't sit on my shelf for very long. I will no doubt hand it to someone soon at the hospital or after receiving one of those calls pastors do not like to get. Cancer is never welcome, but encouragement like 50 days of hope is.

“50 Days of Hope” is an inspirational must read for any cancer patient or for those afflicted with any serious illness. Lynn Eib, longtime colon cancer survivor and current oncology patient advocate, writes “daily doses of inspiration” for those suffering with cancer or for those who support a loved one on their cancer journey.
Her spiritual and emotional inspiration comes with a focus of hope, something recently diagnosed cancer patients and survivors desperately need in the “…first few months after a cancer diagnosis.” This, for many, is their “darkest time.” Lynn has walked that road where she learned hope for the future takes many forms, just as hope “changes from hour-to-hour.”
She fought a long, hard battle with her own colon cancer and knows what it feels like to hear the dreaded diagnosis “that shakes your world—‘its cancer.’” Now, as a cancer survivor of twenty-plus years she shares with readers how it feels…Full Review: http://tinyurl.com/cpzevus
Lynn Eib, colon cancer survivor, shares her messages of encouragement to others facing cancer. Ironically, one day before I received my copy of 50 DAYS OF HOPE to review for the Tyndale Blog Network my mother called to relate to me that the doctors discovered another lump in her breast. Our family was looking forward to her reaching her five year cancer free diagnosis which was right around the corner. Our faith is in God as we await the results of the biospy. This book is the perfect gift to give your loved ones if only to share the awareness that they are not alone. Lynn Eib is able to relate on a more intimate level having experienced the ups and downs of treatment that others must face. She is able to share how her illness brought her closer to God thus finding the positive during difficult times. Yes, I highly recommend!
