Welcome to the newest edition of Guideposts’ devotional, Walking in Grace 2024 . Formerly known as Daily Guideposts , this collection of inspiring stories, Scripture-based reflections, and heartfelt prayers has encouraged and blessed readers for over 45 years. If you’re looking for comfort and guidance while navigating your faith journey, then grab a cup of tea and settle in with Walking in Grace 2024 .
This year’s daily devotional theme is Called to Peace, from Colossians 3:15 (NIV), “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” This theme offers a powerful and comforting day-by-day reminder that we should all seek peace through our struggles and strive each day for Christlike love.
This year's installment in the ongoing Daily Guideposts series, Walking in Grace 2024 contained the usual mixed bag of devotions. Overall, I enjoyed them and got quite a bit of inspiration from them. As usual, though, there are some that don't seem to have much of a point, and some that are just of the "warm fuzzy" variety.
I am occasionally annoyed at devotional readings, though, that present a perspective that is nowhere close to the average person's life. For example (no names, here), when an author writes about walking through the woods behind their house in some scenic setting, or something like that. it's just not the kind of experience that most of us have. I'm glad they get to do that, and I'm not exactly jealous. I just can't really identify with it.
My favorite authors in this year's book are Marci Alborghetti (and that has been a great evolution, through the years, as I did not used to like her much), Buck Storm, Shawnelle Eliasen, and her son Logan. I also enjoyed writings from Carol Kuykendall and Ginger Rue, as well as the editor, Edward Grinnan, and Rick Hamlin. Brock and Pam Kidd's writing is usually enjoyable, as well.
There are a couple of authors whose writings I don't care for at all, but I will leave it at that. The theme of this year's book was 'You were called to peace," which is something that really resonates with me. I always enjoy the opportunity to write short reflections at the end of each month's readings. I generally try to write at least a few words for each day.
The Walking in Grace series is a good, consistent source of devotional readings, for the most part.
I have been using this devotional since they started publishing it. For most of its history I enjoyed reading the bios in the back and felt like between the devotionals and the bios I was getting to know everyday people. While I enjoyed this years devotions I found them much weaker in theological thought and the bios in the back are now mostly advertisements for the writers with less personal information.
Daily devotions from Guideposts. A page a day. Suggested scripture reading. the year ended with O God of the Past, Present, and Future, it is in You that I put my trust. Walk close with me in this coming year so that I might always keep my eyes of faith on You. Amen. Written by J. Brent Bill. A good thought or prayer for the coming new year.
I enjoy using this as a daily devotional. The stories are reflective of real life and true struggles as well as concise, and they don't drag on. They don't all apply to me, but overall I can take something from most of them. I will be carrying this into the new year.
It's been a minute since I've done a Guidepost devotional. I really enjoyed this one and decided to purchase the paperback for 2025. The simple language that connects the simple with divine is breathtaking. What a blessing!
This devotion book is so inspirational! Writers share their thoughts about how God is at work in their lives, sometimes with joy and sometimes about a struggle, but all is encouraging to the readers. It is worth having to assist in strengthening my faith.
Reading Daily Guideposts is a thoughtful way to begin the day. It allows me to take pause and reflect before delving into the day's activities, challenges, and obligations. It also encourages me to practice gratitude each day.
Another good year of devotionals. I have the writers that I look forward to reading and the ones that don’t quite do it for me. But, generally, a nice devotional to end my day.
Always well edited, I find these daily devotionals to be very inspirational. I have been doing them for a few years now, and they are always well done.
I love reading this devotional every year. A friend gave me a copy a few years ago, I was inspired and touched by the devotional so I now buy my own each year.
