The Blue Umbrella - Stories by Ruskin Bond When ten-year-old Binya becomes the proud owner of the most beautiful blue umbrella in the world, her happiness knows no bounds. From then on, the umbrella is her constant companion and protector. But there are others, in the village, who would also like the umbrella for their own and will go to great lengths to get it. Sita lives with her grandparents on a tiny island in the middle of a river. One day, when her grandparents are away the river begins to rise. The friendly stretch of water becomes an angry, rushing flood and Sita watches as her beloved home is washed away. Will she be able to save herself? This Amar Chitra Katha brings together The Blue Umbrella and Angry River, two wonderful stories from one of India’s most loved storywriters, Ruskin Bond.
There is something extremely cozy and comforting about reading The Blue Umbrella on a rainy Sunday evening. A deceptively simple tale with a heartwarming message, this little story set in the Himalayas makes you smile.
Angry River is a tale of survival when a once familiar and calm river becomes a raging flood. It is a straightforward story of surviving and getting back on your feet.
This comic book contains two of Ruskin Bond’s most loved stories - The Blue Umbrella and Angry River - in contemporary Amar Chitra Katha form. I really liked the quality of the paper used in the pages. The illustrations are good and bear similarity with those in the Savita Bhabhi comics. For this reason I was oddly aroused while reading. LOL!
Nice and simple book with great illustrations and comic pictures. Highly recommended for Children. This was the first time I read Ruskin Bond book and I loved it.
Amar Chitra Katha as a part of contemporary classics brought out the blue umbrella and the angry river in the ACK format with Illustrations. The stories are well structured to suit to ACK format.
