There has been an urgent need for a simple and concise guide which teaches the basics of prayer for Muslims. This book has been designed for people who don't know how to pray yet or those who aren't sure whether they learned correctly or not. In this book you will learn the prayers by reading clear and simple descriptions of what to do along with pictures to make sure you understood correctly. One of the unique features of this book is that it doesn't limit itself to teaching the rituals behind the prayer only. Rather, there is an entire chapter dedicated to learning the meanings behind each statement and action in the prayer.
A little, useful book on muslim prayer, mainly meant for those starting on prayer or wanting to check their prayer style. This book is also good because it says learning slowly is good, and that one can linger on each prayer stage as long as needed.
There is guidance first on preparation: washing, being clean and dressed right, timing the prayers according to where one is, and on the direction of prayer. The prayer is divided into three phases so one doesn't have to say everything from the start: in phase one one learns the motions and stances and the shortest sentences, then the unit types (2,3,4 repetitions) which depend on the time of the day. In phase one more sentences are added and it's shown where they belong in prayers; in phase three the long ones are added, and some guidance is given to times when one may forget some sentences.
After this there's talk on group prayer (order of people, what the prayer leader says), on Friday prayer, additional prayers (briefly), and finally on the meaning behind each action and sentence in prayer.
Nicely brief, this does satisfy and let us know the basics (though not further). I wanted to know more on Muslim prayer, and this did give me enough knowledge and satisfaction :)
MashAllah Mustafa Umar does a great job introducing prayer, its meanings, and includes practical steps for one to take to develop an understanding their prayer.
I highly recommend this for all Muslims (new or not) who want to develop a deeper connection to their prayer. The practical steps included could help develop khushoo in prayer that some of us never developed due to a lack of a strong foundation and understanding.
I would strongly encourage those who do not speak Arabic to do their best to memorize the meanings of the core parts of the prayer that we recite as Umar diligently included.
This is a great comprehensive read, whether you are a revert or born Muslim it’s always good to have reminders and prompt on how to pray incase you have succumb to slight laziness. This is something I will continue to read and use as a refresher throughout my continued practice. Highly recommended to those who just want to further their knowledge on the whys behind Islamic prayer. Simply beautiful.
Great book for those new to Islam and searching for a comprehensive guide to salat. Author even goes a step further to explain the meaning behind each saying and movements.
This ebook has helped so very much in learning how to pray but also what I am saying and why. I highly recommend this ebook to any new believer to Islam.
