This was a skim read for me (I think I've finally figured out that Dummies Guides are not written to be read from cover to cover🙄)
I didn't learn much, from this book (the Kindle Paperwhite is about as simple as it gets), but it did clarify which file formats are compatible with my Kindle. I'm also inspired to create collections with unique names, and even rename my Kindle. Eventually, that is. I also found out about a great book website: https://manybooks.net. You can find tons of Public Domain ebooks in (many in AMZ file format) in better editions than those available from Gutenberg. They also have an ebook deals newsletter.
Glad I read this book, but also glad I skimmed rather than reading through each section.
This was the first book I read on my brand new Kindle Paperwhite. I was surprised that someone took the time to write a book about such a limited yet amazing gadget. A nice book, provides all the tricks needed to maximize the return on the investment in a Kindle device. Every new Kindle buyer should give it a shot.
I am reviewing the book Kindle Paperwhite For Dummies by Leslie H Nicoll which is a very good book. I assume this book is about the updated version of the Paperwhite. It is an e-book reader manufactured by Amazon and in particular compatible with the Kindle website they own and the AMZ format for e-books. It is also compatible with e-book sites that use the MOBi and PDF formats. These sites usually don't have copy protection for their e-books. This book was around 180 pages so is a decent length read. It is a scaled down Dummies book. You can play apps on a Paperwhite and the text is crisper than a conventional Kindle. A while back these were the most souped up ,model of the Kindle although now the Voyager is the best. There is also the Kindle Fire range with the HDX being the premier model. These had enhanced features like music and video playback and are more like a tablet than an e-reader. There are separate For Dummies range titles for most of the Kindle and Kindle Fire range. These Kindles are normally charged fire the USB charger that comes with them that plugs into the USB port to charge them. You can buy a USB plug adaptor that plugs into the mains. I can't understand why this doesn't arrive as standard with the Kindle. I assume Amazon wanted to sell them separately to make more money.I did enjoy this book and do recommend it.
As much as the copyright laws allow, this is a copy of the official Kindle Paperwhite manual plus the For Dummies icons. And it should not come as a surprise. After all, the author's qualifications are wife and mother in that order.
