Leading Expert Demystifies Angels and How They Interact with People
Angels have a vital role in the Kingdom of God--and in the lives of believers. Yet many Christians treat the existence of angels lightly or fail to consider them at all. In Angels Are Real Judith MacNutt pulls back the curtain on this intriguing topic, recounting inspiring, true-life stories and miraculous interactions, revealing what the Bible says about these heavenly beings, and offering insight into the spiritual realm. She draws on solid scriptural support to explore
what angels look like what they do why they are important in believers' lives the heavenly hierarchy what fallen angels are and more.
Angels Are Real is an accessible, comprehensive, encouraging guide for Christians. When believers grasp the importance of angels to God--and themselves--they will better understand God's power and his extraordinary love.
A book explaining angels from a biblical reference with actual angel stories from people who have experienced the same. I have my own personal angel story that I'll get to in a moment. The Bible does speak of a hierarchy of angels, but there is no way to confirm that obviously. I'm a heretic. I admit it. Because I simply don't believe countless things in the Bible, yet I do still call myself a Christian, because you don't throw out the baby with the bath water. To state unequivocally and lay out the hierarchy of angels that men wrote about is pointless. Who knows what the hierarchy is? Dead people, that's who. And I can't even state that with certainty. Maybe dead people don't know the hierarchy. Maybe there isn't one. Anyway, enough of my own personal Christianity issues.
There were a couple of car accident stories. One was a man driving and heard "Stop!" a few times and finally did even though there was no reason to at a green light. A car then drove threw the red light nearly hitting the couple's car at high speed. The passenger never said stop and didn't hear the warning the driver heard.
My story: I was driving down the road one day and this presence became noticeable to me in the passenger seat of my car. I couldn't see it. But I could feel it. It was a very powerful, strong, unyielding presence. I've had similar incidents in life feeling things like this, so it didn't scare me or surprise me. I started telling it to get out of my car, but it wasn't going anywhere. I didn't have a good or evil feeling about it either way. It was simply powerful - and would not go. I approached a red light and stopped at the next intersection. I was still verbally talking to this invisible presence in my passenger seat trying to tell it to get away from me and out of my car. Still nothing. I looked back up at the light and it's green, and immediately a massive hauling truck filled my vision as it crossed the green light in my field of view of the intersection as it ran the red light at very high speeds. I looked back to my passenger seat and the presence was gone. It had distracted me and I didn't make my green light right off. I have no doubt that I would have died that day with the compact car I was driving and the speed and size of that truck had I not been distracted and driven forward on the green light.
This book was a joyful read filled with informative and interesting stories. I appreciate that the author backed it all up biblically. The topic of angels is a delicate one - with often more questions than answers. However I feel confident Judith satisfied my curiosity of the supernatural realm. She has accomplished the goal she set out to do.
I also appreciated the easy lay out of the book. A reader can take it in in small chunks if necessary and still absorb the content without feeling lost. I recommend this book to others who are interested in learning about if Angels are for Real.
Very light-hearted read. It took me months to finish because I would only grab it when I was in the "mood" to read it. It's not a sit down and read for 4 hrs straight kind of book. But it was perfect on those cold snowy days when I was up too early and couldn't sleep. Very encouraging stories about angels and surprisingly Bible based.
Angels. Heavenly messengers meant to bring protect, warn, and guide us. But, are they real or just part of our imagination? In her newest book, Judith MacNutt tackles this topic with Biblical information and real life stories. We pray about many things and don't always notice how the prayer is answered. Angels could be at work. Have you ever had an experience where you know someone stopped you before a horrible accident? or, lost something that miraculously was found? These are just two of the ways angels could be working in your life. One story in the book deals with a lost ring another about being saved from drowning and another about feeling safe, and there are so many more. Opening this book will bless you with information and comfort to know that you are not alone. The research that Ms. MacNutt has done will inspire you.
I loved reading this book. There have been many times we have said that God intervened on the highway or with something lost or with someone who has been ill. God sends his love to us no matter what the answer, and angels are a big part of His work here on earth. If you are a skeptic, why not pick up the book and read Ms. MacNutt's evidence? If you are a believer, you will love the Scripture and stories contained in these pages.
Amazing book of angels being with and helping people beat the odds , miracles of God - the power of prayer , God and the love of our angels sent to help us thru it all. It Wasn't quite what I was expecting but still a very good read. I was expecting more stories of Angel interventions or maybe not more but I was expecting more individual stories of their angelic encounters. I enjoyed reading this book , the author sends a powerful message about the battle between good verses evil , with of course good always wins. I have always believed in angels and know without doubt we all have guardian angels around us , helping , loving , nurturing and guiding us. Our angels are and will always be there when we need them all we have to do is ask for their help and they will never let us down .
This is not the type of book I would normally choose to read, but I was given it as a gift so I thought I would give it a try. I was expecting it to be more of a compilation of encounters with angels, and those stories were included throughout the book, but it was also a teaching book about the different types of angels. I enjoyed the angel encounter stories best and could have done without the other. The Healing Angel stories were my favorite. I felt that the Fallen Angel stories were disturbing and the author could have left that chapter out completely.
I would give this book a 3.5. A pretty interesting read. A religious book on Angels. There are many chapters talking about Angels. What is an Angel? How Angels Appear,Angels of God, Classifications of angels. Guardian Angels. Angels for Healing and even fallen Angels. I liked the parts of the book when different people gave their experiences and encounters with Angels. Pretty good book for the most part.
This book is a page turner. Judith MacNutt interweaves her own experiences with those of others. She writes well. The book is an easy read that makes you hunger to learn more about angels. When you finish reading this book, you'll be keeping your eyes open for angels as well as angels in disguise.
I thought that this book was informative on the ranks of angels, however it lost me in the last two chapters as I am not a Christian. Because do not align myself with the Christian doctrine's view of good and evil, I found that the sections on demons to be ideologically threadbare. If you are a Christian who comes from a church that is a bit shy with concepts like healing through prayer and the supernatural. then you will find this book in line with your beliefs and still extremely informative if you take the teachings in here with a pinch of salt. For those from more charismatic churches this would be a good reference guide to angels and how to pray to invoke their protection. Me personally I am on a different path, but I will keep this book in my collection.
Not a review, rather a couple of parts I found interesting, directly quoted from the book “The Nature of Angels – angels possess higher levels of wisdom, authority and holiness than humans. Angels are rational, intelligent beings. Joy, sorrow, anger and compassionate love. Angels are humble, obedient, patient and pure.
The Job Description of Angels - 1. to return with Jesus 2. to guard the Church 3. to execute judgment 4. to give the law 5. to exalt, worship and glorify God 6. to act as God’s messengers 7. to act as guardians, to protect 8. to deliver from evil 9. to bring healing 10. to gather the elect and carry us through death.”
"Angels Are for Real", was a very well written book about a subject that interests almost everyone. It was not feel good pablum, but rather an in-depth review of what is written in the Bible and other authoritative sources about the subject, along with many examples of personal experiences by the author as well as many others. Non-Christians may not be as interested in this book since it takes a decidedly Christian approach, but the Christian reader will find it one of the best sources about Angels other than the Bible. I do recommend.
Enlightening about angels. God created angels before He formed the earth or created humans. Angels r Devine intermediaries between heaven and earth. Angels r classified. A serve and worship and glorify God. Michael was a warrior. Gabriel was a messenger (good news, happening in the future). Raphael was a healer. More…. Guardian angels. God has assigned a g a to u to guard u throughout your life. Your a carries a pure and eternal love for u. This a stays with you throughout your life and accompanies u to heaven.
This is an amazing (awesome) book. It was very difficult to put down. This is a must read book, it has given me a better understanding of life. I've learned and understand things so much clearer. There were many references I will refer back to. Thanks for an excellent book.
I loved reading this book and hearing all the stories about people's experiences of angels. It has given me renewed faith and insight into the spiritual world. I did find some of the 'theory' near the beginning of the book, about rank of angels etc a bit hard going but loved the real life stories and the reassurance this book gave me.
Very uplifting and inspiring book! A splendid book for all but especially for people who feel lost or unloved. Recommend this book for everyone who needs reasurring about God and his angels.
Anecdotes can never function as a logical form, but they shouldn't be dismissed, either. MacNutt's book is a series of anecdotes about angels' helping her and her friends. It's encouraging for the most part. My only qualm is she sometimes gives "anonymous" anecdotes. That does no one any good.
I need more Gods truth for lifes issues and this booked helped me. If life more stories of angels help us do i have a clear understanding of their power, ways, and when to ask and what i might expect. Encourages me and makes it more deal and less theory
I probably would give this book three and a half stars, but this site only does full star ratings. It's not that it's necessarily a well written or scholarly work. It's written from the perspective of a counselor who utilizes a highly spiritual approach in her practice. The writer, Judith MacNutt, claims that it is a fascination, and personal experience, that drove her to become interested in angels, and for years now she has worked to become an expert in the field of human experience with angels. The book takes the chance to provide us with a vast array of personal testimonies, some more or less dramatic, but each carrying an equal conviction of a persons personal encounter in their own life. This pushes the book to stay extremely personable rather than dictation. And for the most part, these stories tend to be quite convincing for the skeptic. The rest of the book is dedicated to the study of angels. In this sense the book steers clear of any sort of exhaustive or extensive exploration of history or objective research. And her exploration of scripture is also anchored in a particular bent. However, one does get glimpses of her knowledge of the field at the same time.
In the area of the spiritual or supernatural, these books rarely work to provide adequate evidence for the skeptic who is not religious. Rather, it seems to want to provide a platform for those who have had experiences, no matter what level of spectacular they sit on, to tell their story. And there are clearly a lot of them out there. I think the book probably will also fall short of entertaining the religious skeptic, as there always remains a leap from moving from the pages of scripture to our modern setting. That in some sense is too bad. There are other scholarly works that deal with miracles and supernatural experience of God in a much more decisive manner, but just because this book speaks to the level of the "people" doesn't mean it should be regarded as fluff or irrelevant. This sort of spiritual reality remains at the core of Christian and other religious belief, and should be treated as such.
This book had its ups and downs. My partner and I read it together for a few months. What really annoyed both of us was that over 50% of the accounts siting angel encounters were by anonymous authors! The supporting scripture was helpful and encouraging and gave us good spiritual insight. 4 stars ****
After my own encounter with my Twin Angels I immediately went out & bought a book to learn more about them & let me tell you this did it for me! Another thing Angels Are for Real taught me was a complete descriptor of what God Jesus & Angels can look like when you see them in their heavenly, spiritual form. Very comforting & enlightening to say the least.
Completely incredible and unbelievable. I was looking forward to reading about the different angels but this is a disappointment. All of the personal accounts seem fabricated and highly improbable to me and I'm a practicing Christian.
