Thoughts of heaven can be unsettling. Life with no end? Space with no bounds? Are we supposed to feel good about these things?
Bestselling author Max Lucado assures us that we can. There is much about heaven that we don't yet understand. And while thoughts on our final destiny may stir questions, they needn't stir our fears.
In Beyond Heaven's Door Max takes us on a journey from finding certainty in our destination to God's great promises of the hereafter. Open the door and catch a glimpse of the joy that awaits you in heaven—and find hope for today in the process.
With more than 150 million products in print and several NYT bestsellers, Max Lucado is America's bestselling inspirational author. Beyond Heaven's Door was a wonderful book! I loved all the beautiful pictures and often wished my kindle had color. I also found it to be very uplifting and encouraging. I can't wait to see beyond heaven's door for myself one day.
This book is a reminder of the hope that we have as followers of Christ. The hope of heaven, a place where there is no more death, pain, or sorrow. I have seen death multiple times, I have felt pain more than once, and I have shed many tears. I'm sure you have at some time or another as well. If so, this book may be a blessing to you and rekindle your hope of heaven.
If you have read his book "When Christ Comes," you have pretty much read this book. Stories are the same but drawn out by putting some of the story with only one sentence on one page. This book takes bits and pieces from the other book. " When Christ Comes" (the other book) has full pages. I first down loaded a sample of this book before I bought it. It didn't tell much. But I bought it anyways after all the book is by Max Lucado. I have to say I think this book is a Gift book. The kind of book you would give to a friend .
***Max writes with specific clarity about death, dying and heaven***
Max Lucado’s new gift book, Beyond Heaven’s Door released just in time for Easter with answers to common questions and concerns about heaven, death and dying. He uses Scripture and selections from work previously published in When Christ Comes to quiet collective doubts and fears about all three in twenty short chapters that foster understanding as well as faith and trust.
Max, long considered a “golf addict, begins with a short golf story.” When pro-golfer, Scott Simpson invited him to “attend the Masters Golf Tournament” known as the “Holy Grail” of golfing, his excitement and anticipation were hard to contain. However, upon arrival he was refused entry to the one place he really wanted to see—the locker room where the “players hang out.”
He likens that rejection to fears many have about heaven. They either don’t believe or entertain doubts about going to heaven even though they are “God-fearing…church-attending” people. Yet …Full Review: http://tinyurl.com/aavtd82
I read it when it first came out and then I decided to give it another read. The book is a very short read (not only is the book small but it is not the length posted here on goodreads). The book contains many pictures, which, while it can make it stylish and pretty to look at, it means an already short book is shorter. When I first bought it, I guess I was expecting something a little closer to Randy Alcorn's book on Heaven. The book itself really does contain some great material. I truly do agree with everything Lucado wrote. Would I pay $15 for it again (when it came out)? I am not sure, but I will say if you like Max Lucado, I am sure you will like this book and it is a nice read on when we are reunited with Jesus/a little foretaste into Heaven in general. I would/will reread again for a third time someday.
As always Lucado is easy to read, basically takes one-two settings and yet you should take a few more moments and a lifetime pondering what heaven will be like and what it means to take what the Scripture has given us and apply it to our hopes and dreams. Filled with scriptures throughout this short book but presented in a logical and reasonable way to help any person, no matter how familiar or unfamiliar you are with scripture to understand what awaits us on the "other side" I especially like the three crowns that will be presented to those who put their faith in Him. My only negative is the illustrations sometimes enhanced, sometime made me wonder why they illustrated it that way. And I would rather have the darker font on each page, but that was because I was reading it with a dim light at 3:00 in the morning. Such small distractions do not matter because the message needs to be heard and told to all that I come in contact with, and I hope all that read this book.
As usual, with the gift that God has given him, Max pulls back the curtain and gives us a quick look at our eternal home. It is not an exhaustive dissertation describing Heaven in great detail but a quick look that makes us long for the day we will see the home our Savior has prepared for us.
Wonderfully written. A true word artist. He makes Scripture come alive for me. I can only imagine how incredible heaven is and will be! So thankful for Max Lucado
This book moved me closer to God's open arms. I felt both loved now and anxious to get to heaven when I am ready. Max has the ability to tell us what God has planned for us, but only if we set aside time to listen.
Beyond Heaven's Door is a small but powerful book. It captures stories and scripture to restore faith and hope. It is for all denominations of Christians.
I read this to a friend who is dying with Cancer, which gave us chills, smiles, and a few tear too. Such a beautiful book and what a great treasure awaits us in Christ!
" I make no claims to being a good golfer, but I readily confess to being a golf addict. If you know of a twelve-step program for the condition, sign me up. "Hi, I'm Max. I'm a golfaholic." I love to play golf, watch golf, and on good nights, I even dream golf.
Knowing this will help you appreciate the extreme joy I felt when I was invited to attend the Masters Golf Tournament. A pass to the Masters is the golfer's Holy Grail. Tickets are as scarce as birdies on my scorecard. So I was thrilled. The invitation came via pro golfer Scott Simpson. Each player is given a certain number of passes and Scott offered Denalyn and me two of his. (If there was ever any question about Scott's place in heaven, that gesture erased the doubt.)
So off we went to Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, where golf heritage hangs like moss from the trees. There you find the green where Nicklaus sank the putt. The fringe where Mize holed the chip. The fairway where Saranson hit the approach shot. I was a kid in a candy store. And like a kid, I couldn't get enough. It wasn't enough to see the course and walk the grounds; I wanted to see the locker room. That's where the clubs of Hogan and Azinger are displayed. That's where the players hang out. And that's where I wanted to be.
A guard stopped me at the entrance. I showed him my pass, but he shook his head. I told him I knew Scott, but that didn't matter. I promised to send his eldest child through college, but he didn't budge. "Only caddies and players," he explained. Well, he knew I wasn't a player or a caddie. Caddies at the Masters are required to wear white coveralls. My clothing was a dead giveaway. So I left, figuring I'd never see the clubhouse. I made it all the way to the door but was denied entrance.
Many people fear the same will happen to them in heaven. They fear being turned away at the door. A legitimate fear, don't you think? We're talking about a pivotal moment. To be turned away from seeing golf history is one thing, but to be refused admission into heaven is quite another.
That is why some people don't want to discuss heaven. It makes them nervous. They may be God-fearing and church-attending people but still nervous. Is there a solution to this fear? Need you spend the rest of your life wondering if you will be turned away at the door?
According to the Bible, it is possible to "know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13 MSG). How? How can any of us know for sure?
Curiously, it all has to do with the clothing we wear." (pg 10-11).
Written in a comfortable style that is uniquely Max Lucado, Beyond Heaven's Door takes the reader through an amazing way to assure you that when this life is over, if you have clothed yourself in Christ, then you will have eternal life the instant you close your eyes when this one ends. No more worry or doubt will cross your mind when you rest in the assurances that after reading this and following the simple steps Max provides, you can be assured of your final destination.
The book not only tells us how to get to Heaven but assures us that even when our loved ones pass away here, as believers their life is only so much better than we could have ever dreamed or imagined. Taking all of his references and information directly from the Bible, Max makes the entire trip towards Heaven, a personal one. You truly feel like the words from this book are like words from a trust and close friend and I believe that is where the appeal in all of Max's books I've been honored to read comes from.
I received Beyond Heaven's Door by Max Lucado compliments of Thomas Nelson Publishers for my honest review and received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. This one is a must read for anyone who really wonders what lies beyond death's door and is looking for the absolute truth before it's too late to make that decision to accept Christ. This book also provides comfort for those of us left behind when a believer dies and shows us in a small way just what is on the other side waiting for all of us that accept Jesus Christ into our lives. An unforgettable book and well worthy of 5 out of 5 stars.
Numerous publications have been printed about Heaven recently, no doubt mankind is looking up for encouragement as this World sinks deeper into darkness. Being a fan of this subject, I've had an opportunity to read the majority of these books yet Max Lucado brings fresh awareness and imperative information on this popular subject. Max seems to excel and bring to the reader much more than the average content. Although it is a joy to read how grand Heaven will be and I would be the last to say that I tire of hearing about this yet Mr. Lucado goes a step further by supplying to us the knowledge of how to ensure our chance of getting there. Using scripture, the author reminds us ''Not everyone who say's 'You are our Lord' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven"' Matthew 7:21. Max directs his readers to dig deeper into the Word of God so that they may be properly prepared and ready when Christ calls us home. He explains how we must be spiritually clothed , '"But clothed yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and forget about satisfying your sinful self"' Romans 13:14. Not mincing any words to gain favor, the author's only goal is to bring us the truth. This New York Times best selling author speaks boldly and specifically about what God expects from his children. As always, I am blown away and encouraged by Lucado's newest venture. It astounds me that he is always able to exceed my expectations and teach me new, revelant points about our walk with God. I had the honor to review this book for Book Sneeze in exchange for my thoughts. If you yearn for that place where there will be no more pain or sorrow than this book is for you. If you are down in the Valley and feel overwhelmed by the trials and disappointments in your life...this book is for you. If you can't see the rainbow and pot of gold as the storms continue to beat on your household...this is for you and if you want to see your loved ones that have passed on again, invest your time in reading this stellar book for the sake of your soul's eternity.
One of the smaller of Max's books I have read, yet this had the Biggest impact.
Max openly and honestly shares the bible and how it says what Heaven will be like.
There are many rooms in my Father's House; I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may be where I am. (John:2-3)
Max talks about us having new bodies. corruption, dishonor and weakness- changing to incorruption, glory and power. Max questions us.. can we argue with these words? I know I can't. Another question? Can you imagine a world with out sin? If you can.. than you can imagine Heaven. Earlier I said that this book hit me BIG... well I am broken.. in many ways.. as we all are. Reading this book has helped me to see that yes one day I will run with 2 legs.. both of my own body and not as now one that is man made... He will transfigure these wretched bodies of ours into copies of his glorious body (philppians 3:21 TJB
This little book is a new friend..

'Beyond Heaven's Door' is a gift book that details what Christians can expect when they enter the afterlife. The book is short and easily read in under an hour. It contains beautiful images with quotes taken from the text as well as scriptures. The author focuses on several different questions that people have about Heaven and what happens when we die. The book quotes several passages of scripture that deal with the nature of Jesus, what Heaven will be like, and what our new bodies will look and be like after resurrection. The author tells anecdotes throughout the book to help the reader understand the passages of scripture and also to show the reader what is meant by the text. Overall, this was an uplifting book that Christians will enjoy reading more than once and the images and quotes throughout are beautiful and definitely add to the book's appeal. It would make a wonderful gift to those who are questioning death and Heaven as well as to those who have recently lost a loved one.
Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
My Review: I really enjoyed this book by Max Lucado. It is a small, compact book that fits easily into a purse or tote. It has been broken down into 20 short chapters that have many personal stories that help you understand the message. I especially liked chapter 5- The Brand-New You where he uses a story of a farmer and his seeds to explain how we are like the seed. There are many examples of biblical scripture that you can refer to in your bible that also pertain to Heaven and what to expect in the eternal afterlife. I thought it was well written and very informative. I would recommend this to anyone that has a questions about what is beyond Heaven's door.
